[Toys] NECA Announces Hicks, Possible New Queen

Even though the New York Toy Fair has come to an end, NECA continues to announce a rash of shocking new products.

While we already knew a Prometheus line was on the way, along with a new “Warrior Alien” from Aliens, details were beyond slim.

This weekend NECA took to their official website to clarify said reveals, while also announcing that we’ll finally get a Corporal Dwayne Hicks along with another soon-to-be-announced Colonial Marine! They also reveal that a Queen Alien could be in the works for 2013.

Even with all of this, I don’t understand why we still don’t have any Ellen Ripley figures? I mean, Mattel just announced a Dana figure for their Ghostbusters line, therefore she’s willing to share her likeness… READ MORE

International Teaser For ‘Prometheus’ Provides Almost Nothing New

PrometheusHighLandscape121411 International Teaser For Prometheus Provides Almost Nothing New

Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is certainly one of my most anticipated films of the year. I imagine it’s one of yours as well. So while I could watch this new International Teaser a bajlillion times today and still be happy, I’m having a hard time finding any real differences between it and the US teaser released a few months back.

So far all I’ve got is that it omits the slow, Alien-esque, title reveal from the original teaser.

Ridley Scott, director of ‘Alien’ and ‘Blade Runner,’ returns to the genre he helped define. With ‘Prometheus’, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

In theaters June 8, Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Guy Pearce, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Benedict Wong, Emun Elliott, Ben Foster, Patrick Wilson all star.

Hit the jump to check out the new teaser and let me know if you’ve found any other differences! Doesn’t matter how small they are – I’m curious. READ MORE

[Toy Fair '12] NECA Announces Reese, ‘Aliens’ & Colonial Marines

[Toy Fair 12] NECA Announces Reese, Aliens & Colonial Marines

In addition to making action figures based on Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, NECA is heading into James Cameron territory as they announced at Toy Fair rights to a slew of new sci-fi horror toys.

First up, we’ll finally see a “Kyle Reese” (played by Michael Biehn) action figure based on the 1984 The Terminator.

NECA has also announced a new Aliens “Warrior” featuring more articulation and removable limbs.

Lastly, the toy company will release a line based on the forthcoming video game “Aliens: Colonial Marines”. In development by Gearbox Software, it is to be published by Sega for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360. The game is a first-person shooter based on the characters and creatures of the Alien franchise, particularly the film Aliens. It is slated for a fall 2012 release. READ MORE

The Aliens: Colonial Marines Cover Art Is Worth Drooling Over

Some might look at this cover art for the long in development Aliens: Colonial Marines to be nothing more than neat box art. Its eye-catching, there’s no denying that, but there’s more to it. You see, the marines are inside the xenomorph’s head, and that’s actually a metaphor for the complex relationship between the xenomorphs and the marines. I’m just kidding, the xenomorphs want to to tear the marines into pieces while they scream and fear-pee themselves, and there’s not much else to it.

Ridley Scott Conceiving ‘Prometheus’ Sequel

 Ridley Scott Conceiving Prometheus Sequel

Ridley Scott’s return to Alien franchise was originally conceived as a trilogy all stitched together to set up his iconic 1979 sci-fi horror pic.

With the prequel Prometheus hitting theaters June 8 in a flurry of hype, Scott is once again thinking “sequel”.

In speaking to EW about the upcoming Blade Runner, Scott reveals that he’s “also thinking about what the hell I might do for a ‘Prometheus 2.’” as he knocks the wood coffee table and grins.

Those keeping up with the Prometheus mythos know that the film is supposed to set up exactly how the dead Space Jockey crash landed on the planet. This still leaves plenty of years (or millions of years) to explore. READ MORE

Already featured in magazines, below you’ll now find a clean look at Noomi Rapace and Logan Marshall-Green in Twentieth Century Fox’s Prometheus. The duo apparently have oxygen and are standing in front of some alien writing. I believe it says, “This is not a prequel to Alien, but actually, it is.” Just a wild guess.

On June 8 Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define. With Prometheus, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is getting closer and closer to release and, while mystery is still high (and should be – I don’t want to be totally spoiled), more and more is beginning to emerge.

Like this still for instance. We’ve seen glimpses of this imagery in the teaser, but not from this angle. It features the giant stone head from the posters amidst what looks like the egg rooms from Alien and Aliens. Only the egg-like objects in Prometheus seem to be made of granite or perhaps some alloy and they are more conical in shape. But there’s no denying what they’re intended to invoke.

We Already Know There Are Space Jockeys In ‘Prometheus’, But Here Are Their Suits!

PrometheusHighLandscape121411 We Already Know There Are Space Jockeys In Prometheus, But Here Are Their Suits!

The LA Times has an interesting article on Prometheus today, and there’s definitely a smattering of the Alien mythology in the pic they included.

It’s interesting that they ran this exchange with co-writer Damon Lindelof, “What the two do have in common, Lindelof said, is that the universe in which each takes place shares a similar aesthetic. When the writer signed on to the film, Scott was already deep into discussions with production designer Arthur Max, whose résumé includes work on “Se7en” and “Gladiator.” Scott took Lindelof to what he described as a “thick, dramatic vault door” where five twentysomethings who “looked like they were playing video games” were rendering images of planets, creatures and space suits.

I think at this point it’s safe to say that the films share more than a “common aesthetic”.

Noomi Rapace Holds Horrified Gaze In Fresh ‘Prometheus’ Still

Meet the ‘Prometheus’ Space Jockey Known Simply As “The Engineer”

Meet the Prometheus Space Jockey Known Simply As The Engineer

Only in horror is the man in a rubber suit revered as a God, which is appropriate considering the enormity of the following scoop.

With a fair spoiler warning to prelude this story, Damon Lindelof’s screenplay for Prometheus, Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel, is said to begin when a group of humans discover a map of the universe that leads them to their creators – or “Gods”. Said Gods are the Space Jockeys as eluded to in the corpse seen in Scott’s 1979 Alien.

In Twentieth Century Fox’s Prometheus, arriving in theaters June 8, one of these Space Jockeys is referred to as “The Engineer”. While there are said to be multiple engineers, Bloody Disgusting can exclusively report that Ian Whyte will portray one of them. He will soon be referred to as our “creator” or “God”…

Whyte also worked in costume as the Predator in both Alien vs. Predator films. We’ll hopefully have more soon as there are quite a bit of interesting rumors surrounding this casting. We’ll work on confirming before we report back. READ MORE

While the lush 3D location shots of a desolate Moscow are admittedly stunning, the forgettable characters and paint-by-the-numbers plot threaten to burn the entire film out of your brain mere seconds after you’ve left the theater,” says Daley before joking, “Remove the sporadic alien attacks and ‘The Darkest Hour‘ suddenly feels like a Sunday night slideshow of your parents’ summer tour of the Motherland.”

It’s a Space Jockey Extravaganza in ‘Prometheus’ Screengrabs! Updated in HD!

Its a Space Jockey Extravaganza in Prometheus Screengrabs! Updated in HD!

Ok, so the trailer for Prometheus is finally online. We’ve reveled in it at least once; some of us have watched it 14 times (I know, I’m sick in the head). On the surface it’s just (just?!) a mind-blowing sci-fi horror flick that taps into the soul of Ridley Scott’s 1978 Alien, but it’s actually much, much more…

From the pods to the Space Jockey rising out of the ground with his enormous canon (obviously a moment from the film’s finale, which will set the stage for the big discovery in Alien), there’s no doubt in my mind that this Damon Lindelof-penned flick is an authentic prequel to said film.

Thumbing frame-by-frame through the trailer we’ve uncovered quite a few freeze-frame treasures that range from the aforementioned Space Jockey rising out of the ground to the head of a Jockey sitting on a bed, and even what looks to be a device that channels the alien race. It looks like all sorts of awesome.

Shot in 3-D, Prometheus launches to the depths of space on June 8. READ MORE

Wanna See a Dead Space Jockey From ‘Prometheus’?

Wanna See a Dead Space Jockey From Prometheus?

I seriously don’t think I’ve been excited for a film this much since Freddy vs Jason came out back in 2003. I’ve been so pumped for Prometheus – the prequel to Ridley Scott’s Alien – that I’ve been gazing over images and looking at all of the teaser clips over and over again. Obsessed is an understatement, I’ve transcended into creepy (I’m a Prometheus stalker? I’m OK with that.)

The point, yes, yes, the point. While other horror sites will discover what I’m about to show you in about a month and eventually report it as “fresh” news (see The Darkest Hour alien images), we discovered that one of the images released by Twentieth Century Fox carries a look at a dead Space Jockey…and it was right under all of our noses! Take a look inside for a cropped look at the still and say your prayers for the alien God.

Giger, and promises with a bold face that we won’t be seeing the xenomorph synonymous with the franchise.
