In this line of work there are many times when you are lucky enough to sit down and interview with someone who is such a treat to talk to that it leaves you walking away with one of those smiles on your face that lasts the rest of the day. One such interview was definitely Vertigo/DC scribe for “AMERICAN VAMPIRE”, Scott Snyder. The author sat down with me on Day 3 of the convention to talk about his ubber successful series, and even gave all of us here at Graphic Content a very appreciated shout-out. Major kudos have to be given to genre scribe Scott Snyder for his work on “AMERICAN VAMPIRE” since legend Stephen King parted ways with the monthly from Vertigo, as the series has continued to be quite impressive in his absence. Ever wonder what it takes to bring the cover of a comic book to life? It isn’t easy, and often times an illustrator can find him/herself pulling their hair out over the cover to the book than the actual contents. It is hard to come up with something eye-catching that is going to pull new readers in month in and month out, but for the folks over at Vertigo and their ubber hit, “AMERICAN VAMPIRE”, things seem to come easy. With all of the hype surrounding Stephen King and Scott Snyder’s vampire tale “AMERICAN VAMPIRE”, the teaser photos, the doting news coverage, the decidedly epic trailer, and the expectations of readers everywhere being so high, this past Wednesday proved to be one the most important of Vertigo’s year. After all, a lot of people can talk the talk when it comes to releasing a title from a name as legendary as King’s, but it is an entirely different thing to walk the walk. The horror author’s most famous work in the genre is undoubtedly is the classic “SALEM’S LOT” published all the way back in 1975. Since then King has dabbled in with bloodsuckers, but never has he come close to reproducing such a literary gem for vampire fans as he did with that title. So with all that said: what about “AMERICAN VAMPIRE”? Is it the ‘be all end all’ of horror comics this year? Is it King’s comic book masterpiece? Is this the story that is going to put Scott Snyder on the map? Read on to find out.

Some weeks it takes a full 7 days to decide just which title to choose for this column, but this was not one of them. Since it was announced that Stephen King would again be teaming with writing partner Scott Snyder to bring readers his vision of the first American vampire the title has been the subject of talk among everyone in the industry. In a way that only the legendary horror scribe can, King singlehandedly grabbed the attention of readers across the world with the promise of delivering his next truly epic original title, and his first story written specifically for the medium. And now that the title is just days away from being unleashed on the world we have the first 3 full pages of the issue, and the teaser trailer that was released tonight by King himself. Today Pamela Mullin over at Vertigo comics released a press release detailing plans for a slick and downright cool looking variant cover for Scott Snyder and Stephen King’s new vampire-western monthly “AMERICAN VAMPIRE”, to be released on March 17th. The hotly anticipated new series from the horror legend and his past collaborator Snyder, marks Kings first fully original monthly comic book series that tells the story of the first American vampire set against the old west.
