Another Viral ‘You’re Next’ Image Haunts Some ‘Peeples’!
We’ve got yet another awesome viral image (via Collider) from the amazing You’re Next (review here), in theaters August 23.
After popping up at a Wedding and on a Temptation Bus Ad, another one of the film’s masked killers has popped up on a poster for Peeples in New York City, defacing yet another perfectly good Lionsgate poster.

Another ‘You’re Next’ Animal Invades Los Angeles Bus Shelter Ad!!
Back on Sunday we told you about the coolest viral campaign we’ve seen all year – Lionsgate had printed bus stop ads for The Big Wedding, only they were invaded by one of the “animals” from their forthcoming slasher You’re Next (review here), in theaters August 23.
While the ads had previously been reported across the New York area, an eagle-eyed reader in Culver City, California confirmed that Los Angeles is also being stalked by the killers from Adam Wingard’s You’re Next! Inside we have an insanely cool bus shelter ad for Tyler Perry’s Temptation that reflects yet another “animal” from the film. It’s unclear how old the Temptation photo is as the movie came out end of March, but these ads must have been up for a while. Lionsgate would not return our calls to comment. This ‘You’re Next’ Viral Is The Coolest Thing I’ve Seen All Year!!
Update: Another bus shelter ad was spotted in Los Angeles! Lionsgate has just won the year with their absolutely ingenious viral campaign for Adam Wingard’s You’re Next (review), which opens in theaters August 23.
While we’re unaware of how many cities partook, Los Angeles and New York bus stops reportedly carry displays for Lionsgate’s upcoming comedy, The Big Wedding, which reflect one of the “animals” from the hotly anticipated slasher You’re Next!!
Looking at the following image, I can’t tell of there’s an actual reflection or if Lionsgate “printed” the animal on the top layer of the Big Wedding poster; either way, what you’ll see inside is pretty haunting and beyond eye-catching. Take a look and marvel at the brilliance behind Lionsgate’s marketing department. What do ya’ think?

Patrick Wilson, Amy Seimetz And Patton Oswalt To Star In ‘Scary House’ For Blumhouse!!
You have to respect Jason Blum’s ability to play things close to the vest. Aside from Sinister 2 – which they only had to announce because Eli Roth tweeted about it – he only really lets you in on stuff when he’s ready to start shooting (which seems to be the case here). Blumhouse Productions has announced the start of production on their new film Scary House.
It stars Patrick Wilson (Insidious, Watchmen), Amy Seimetz (The Sacrament), Jessica Tyler Brown (Paranormal Activity 3) and Patton Oswalt (Young Adult) in what’s described as “a haunting slow burn inside a typical suburban home that may or may not be infested with supernatural forces.” The film will be directed by Scott Stewart (Dark Skies) from a script by Chad Hayes (The Conjuring).
In a way, the title leads me to wonder if they’re using something so general as part of some meta The Cabin In The Woods approach, but apparently not. It seems like they’re swinging for the fences to make the “ultimate” suburban haunted house movie.
Per the official synopsis, “After suffering a loss, Jonathan (Wilson) and Lindsay (Seimetz) and their young daughter Amethyst (Brown) move into a modest home in a quiet suburban enclave where they intend to mend their family back to normal. While Jonathan struggles with unemployment and Lindsay yearns for the man he used to be, the tensions between them worsen as things slowly start going wrong with the house itself. Unwilling to move out of the house and unable to suffer one more night of ‘things happening’, they consult paranormal expert Aleksandar (Oswalt) hoping to find solace. Instead, they find that they are living in their greatest nightmare.”

The ‘You’re Next’ Trailer Is Here! And It’s Worth The Wait!!!
It’s funny – a March 28th trailer release for a movie that comes out on August 23rd is still fairly early. At least it’s not late late. Yet, because Lionsgate’s You’re Next has been anticipated for so long (due to the Summit/Lionsgate merger, not due to quality), it feels like it’s been an eternity. A lot of you have been asking us for the trailer for 18 months… so we’re just as stoked as you are that it’s finally here. And it’s great! I dig how the trailer sells the suspense and horror of the film without giving anything else away – there’s still a lot you haven’t seen (it’s relatively spoiler free in that regard). I also dig the moment when the chorus of “Perfect Day” comes back into the mix. From what I gather this is just the beginning of a pretty big marketing push.

That up above is a new still from Lionsgate’s You’re Next (read our review), which takes an ax to theaters on August 23. Also – the trailer is set to debut tonight on “Entertainment Tonight” on CBS at 7:00PM PT / 7:30PM ET. Knowing them, they might talk over it. One of the reasons behind the film’s creative success is Adam Wingard‘s incredibly assured hand as a director. I’ve always been fond of his work, but You’re Next is unlike anything else currently on his resume – a taut, crowd-pleasing horror film that has a uniquely addictive energy. I sat down with him after the screening to talk about the film’s violence and his approach towards making it feel huge.

While it was my third time seeing the film (which gets better with every viewing), it was the first time I’d seen it with a big audience and I wasn’t anticipating just how much of a crowd pleaser it would actually be. One of the most important components to that success is the performance Sharni Vinson delivers as Erin, the highly capable protagonist. “I’m now producing a film called The Sacrament that Ti West produced and directed,” Roth, producer on CBS Films’ forthcoming The Last Exorcism: Part II, tells The Guardian. “He made a terrific film called House of the Devil, and had a great idea about a found footage docu-style horror movie set it a Jonestown type cult where we watch a mass suicide begin and the filmmakers are trapped inside. It’s really, really scary.”

Worldview Entertainment’s horror thriller The Sacrament, written and directed by Ti West (V/H/S, The Innkeepers, House of the Devil, The Roost) is currently in its third week of shooting in Savannah, GA.
We’ve learned that The Sacrament stars Joe Swanberg (V/H/S, You’re Next, A Horrible Way To Die), AJ Bowen (You’re Next, A Horrible Way To Die, House of the Devil, The Signal), Kentucker Audley (V/H/S), Amy Seimetz (You’re Next, A Horrible Way to Die, Tiny Furniture) and Gene Jones (No Country for Old Men). Talk about a reunion!
The Sacrament is produced and will be presented by Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever). Worldview is also producing and financing Roth’s The Green Inferno, marking the company’s second project with the prolific filmmaker. Production on the much anticipated film is set to begin in Peru and Chile on November 5th.

Lionsgate Schedules Hotly Anticipated ‘You’re Next’ For August 2013
Well, that took awhile. After scooping up the film at the 2011 TIFF, Lionsgate has been sitting on You’re Next, Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett’s incredible home invasion slasher that stars Sharni Vinson, Nick Tucci, Wendy Glenn, AJ Bowen, Joe Swanberg, Margaret Laney, Amy Seimetz, Ti West, Calvin Reeder, Larry Fessenden, Kate Lyn Sheil, Barbara Crampton and Rob Moran. Presumably, the issue of releasing arose when Lionsgate acquired Summit, leaving few slots for their upcoming horror releases. Now, a year after being sold in a massive bidding war, Collider reports that the Gate will now release in theaters on August 23, 2013.
In the film, which received rave reviews (read mine here), “A family comes under a terrifying and sadistic attack during a reunion getaway. Barricaded in their secluded country home, they have to fight off a barrage of axes, crossbows and machetes from both inside and outside the house. Unfortunately for the killers, one of the victims proves to have a talent for fighting back.”

A Horrible Way to Die (V)
When a serial killer escapes from prison, he pursues his ex-girlfriend, who has fled to start a new life in a small town.
Long Synopsis: Sarah is starting life over. After her last relationship ended with a revelation that sent her boyfriend, Garrick, to a life sentence in prison, Sarah had no choice but to leave her past behind. Now that she’s been relocated to a small town and given a new identity, Sarah’s embracing the opportunity to start life fresh. Unfortunately for Sarah, the past won’t let go. Garrick escapes prison and discovers Sarah’s new location, then blazes a violent trail across the country to track her down and disrupt her seemingly perfect new life.

LeGros plays a New York Chef and TV cooking personality, who takes culinary revenge on the food critic (Leonard), who recently savaged his restaurant in a review. Batali plays the owner of the restaurant.
