Wallace40912 Alfred Hitchcock And The Making Of Psycho Adds A Crime Scene Investigator

Fox Searchlight’s Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho just added another key member to its already impressive cast. Wallace Langham (“CSI”, Jurassic Park) will be joining the prestige pic.

Per Variety, “CSI” star Wallace Langham is in talks to play Saul Bass in Sacha Gervasi’s Fox Searchlight pic. Bass designed the main titles and handled the storyboards for “Psycho” and many of Hitchcock’s other films despite famously clashing with the headstrong helmer.

He joins Jessica Biel (The Tall Man, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003)Toni Collette (Fright Night 2011),Danny Huston (30 Days Of Night), Michael Stuhlbarg (Lincoln) and Michael Wincott in the film. Wincott will be playing Ed Gein and Biel will be playing Vera Miles.

As previously reported, Anthony Hopkins will play the iconic director, while Helen Mirren will play his wife, Alma. Scarlett Johansson and James D’Arcy are to play Psycho stars Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins. Gervasi’s pic follows Hitchcock and his struggles during the filmmaking of the horror classic. John McLaughlin penned the script. Ivan Reitman, Joe Medjuck and Tom Pollack will produce through their Montecito Picture Company along with Tom Thayer.

Scarlett Johansson As Janet Leigh & James DArcy As Anthony Perkins In Making of Psycho!

Fox Searchlight’s Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho just became one of my most anticipated films of 2013.

Variety reports that Director Sacha Gervasi has tapped the stunning Scarlett Johansson and James D’Arcy to play Psycho stars Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins, respectively!

As previously reported, Anthony Hopkins will play the iconic director, while Helen Mirren will play his wife, Alma.

Gervasi’s pic follows Hitchcock and his struggles during the filmmaking of the horror classic.

John McLaughlin penned the script. Ivan Reitman, Joe Medjuck and Tom Pollack will produce through their Montecito Picture Company along with Tom Thayer.

Sources tell the mag that Making of Psycho has drawn comparisons to My Week With Marilyn, and that the role of Janet Leigh could lead to the same awards consideration for Johansson that the Marilyn Monroe role did for Michelle Williams.

Though D’Arcy’s role is smaller compared to his co-stars, it’s still considered a major part given how important Perkins is to the Psycho legacy. READ MORE

Searchlight to Tell the Take of ‘Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho’

After four years in development at Paramount, Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho is in the process of being set up at Fox Searchlight, says Heat Vision.

Anthony Hopkins, who is still attached to play Hitchcock, and Sacha Gervasi (Anvil! The Story of Anvil), who is directing, are making the move and are being joined by Helen Mirren, who will play the filmmaker’s wife, Alma Reville.

Sources caution that the dealmaking behind the move and Mirren boarding is in the early stages, but an April production start is being eyed.

The project is based on the non-fiction book by Stephen Rebello that tracks how Hitchcock, at the height of his game as a director, decided to make a “lowly” horror movie. No studio wanted to touch it initially, so Hitchcock scrounged for financing by himself. The movie, of course, became one of his biggest hits and one of the most influential of all time.

At the center of the script by John McLaughlin (Black Swan) and Rebello is the relationship between Hitchcock and his wife. READ MORE

Anthony Hopkins and His Evil Mug Grace ‘The Rite’ Poster

I want to see another cool exorcism flick, I really do. I just really doubt anything will ever come close to The Exorcist. Maybe it was because Reagan was a young girl or because the effects were outstanding, but I would never put my money on a new studio film. With that said, I still sit in anticipation of every single exorcism-inspired film in hopes that it’ll give me a fraction of fright that William Friedkin’s 1973 classic did. On January 28th Warner Bros. will release The Rite, Mikael Hafstrom’s “true story” spin on the subgenre that stars Anthony Hopkins, Colin O’Donoghue, Alice Braga, and Ciaran Hinds. The film follows skeptical seminary student Michael Kovak (O’Donoghue), who reluctantly attends exorcism school at the Vatican. While in Rome, he meets an unorthodox priest, Father Lucas (Hopkins), who introduces him to the darker side of his faith. Check out the official poster inside…and all hail Hopkins!
