The story revolves around the president’s quest to rid the world of vampires, presented as part of the conflict behind the Civil War.
Seth Grahame-Smith’s revision of a Jane Austen classic explores the secret life of our greatest president, and the untold history that shaped our nation. The journal reveals the incredible story of a clandestine warrior who never stopped fighting for the country he led and the people he loved.
In addition to the footage posted this morning, we’ve now landed a third clip from Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the Timur Bekmambetov-directed historial retelling of the 16th President of the United States who will hunt bloodsuckers on June 22. The crew at 20th Century Fox are coming out swinging promoting their historical retelling of our 16th (most badass and excellent, according to Bill & Ted) President.

Twentieth Century Fox has released a slew of new imagery from Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter 3D, his 3-D historical retelling arriving in theaters June 22. In this historical fantasy, produced by Tim Burton, vampires strike the same twitchy nerve among the citizenry that terrorists do in our real world. One of the images features Benjamin Walker as “Honest Abe” wielding an axe and taking full-swing (hopefully about to take a vamp’s head off!) The other displays Lincoln in his younger days, already aware of the vampire menace, but just beginning to learn that he and his trusty felling axe could do something about it.
Anthony Mackie, Dominic Cooper, Rufus Sewell, Robin McLeavy, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jimmi Simpson, and Alan Tudyk also star.

Props to our good friends at Latino Review, who received a lot of sh*t when their breaking story was debunked. Only thing is, they were 50% right. The site had reported that Robin McLeavy (the psycho-chick in the Aussie horror The Loved Ones) would be starring as Mary Todd, Abe Lincoln’s love interest and eventual wife in Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter 3D for Twentieth Century Fox.
McLeavy is now confirmed for a role, only she’ll be playing the role of Abraham Lincoln’s mother, “Nancy Hanks Lincoln.”
Spoiler Warning: The role is brief but sets the tone for the action, reports Deadline. It’s her death at the hands of a bloodsucker that hardens young Abe Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) into going to war against the growing scourge of vampires in the 1800s.
Fox will release in theaters on June 22, 2012.

I’m still feeling a bit weird saying it out loud: “Trent Reznor, Oscar winner.” The Nine Inch Nails frontman has come a long way since his bout with drugs, depression and writer’s block. A decade after the release of “The Fragile,” Reznor is married, has released a slew of new albums, alongside produced side-projects, and is now an Academy Award winner for his work on David Fincher’s The Social network. F*cking awesome if you’re a fan (which I am).
While I was hoping we’d one day get a new NIN album, Trent Reznor has stated he’s working on a full “How to Destroy Angels” album (thanks to Yoko), while he’s also committed to working with Fincher again on The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
Add one more to the list as Reznor will reteam with Atticus Ross to orchestrate the score for Timur Bekmambetov and Tim Burton’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, reports BadassDigest.
Even cooler is that the site claims Reznor will also “be appearing as the vampire who kills Lincoln’s mom, as well!”

It was reported on a pretty reliable website earlier this week that The Loved One‘s Robin McLeavy had landed the major role of the 16t President’s wife in Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter 3D.
Unfortunately, they got this one wrong as the Hollywood Reporter writes that horror veteran Mary Elizabeth Winstead will play Mary Todd in 20th Century Fox’s period vampire adventure that goes behind cameras next month in New Orleans.
She’ll star opposite Benjamin Walker, who plays Abraham Lincoln. She previous starred in Black Christmas, Grindhouse, The Ring Two, Final Destination 3 and can also be seen in Universal’s The Thing remake.
Penned by Seth Grahame-Smith, the story revolves around the President’s quest to rid the world of vampires, presented as part of the conflict behind the Civil War. History will be rewritten on June 22, 2012.

Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker, Million Dollar Baby) is in talks to star with Benjamin Walker in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter for 20th Century Fox, reports Deadline. Mackie will play the role of Will, Lincoln’s best friend. The site claims the role is a good one as he gets to be in the center of the vampire slaying. Variety adds that Dominic Cooper (Hello Darkness) is in final negotiations to play “Henry”. Director Timur Bekmambetov is putting together a group of up and comers to headline the movie that arrives in theaters June 22, 2012.
“Seth Grahame-Smith’s revision of a Jane Austen classic blew readers’ minds and became an instant national bestseller. Now, he tackles our greatest president… When Abraham Lincoln was nine years old, his mother died from an ailment called the “milk sickness.” Only later did he learn that his mother’s deadly affliction was actually the work of a local vampire, seeking to collect a debt owed by Lincoln’s father. When Abe learned the truth, he vowed revenge and kept one passion hidden throughout his life: the brutal elimination of all vampires. His valiant, bloody fight against the undead was all but lost to history, until Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln. Using the journal as his guide, Seth reconstructs Lincoln’s life story and uncovers the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation. You don’t know Abe. Honest.”
