This apocalypse nonsense is just that, nonsense, and I can’t wait for the 22nd to roll around so we can all shut up about it. With that said, this is glorious. I’d very much like to spend the rest of my days here, or at least, the ones we have left. So sit back, turn up the volume, and just bask in the glory that is this Majora’s Mask themed doomsday clock.

5 Horror Movies With Amazing Endings!!!

A few months back I wrote a piece that highlighted 5 horror films and the horrible endings that the filmmakers chose for them. But now it’s October and I’m in the mood for love, especially when it comes to my favorite genre, so it’s time to turn the tables and talk about the films that really hit it out of the park with their endings.

When it comes to endings, sometimes you’ve got to take the advice of Jesus (as played by Jerry Cantrell in Jerry Maguire) and hang your balls out there to be great. So while all of these endings are awesome, most of them aren’t exactly happy. It’s not that I’m against happy endings, but often they clash so harshly with the film’s overall tone and theme that you just know they’re tacked on compromises.

Head inside to check it out. And let me know YOUR favorite horror endings in the comments! READ MORE

Selma Blair Wants ‘Hellboy 3′ As Much As The Rest Of Us! Teases The Film’s Apocalypse…

Selma Blair stars in In Their Skin (formerly Replicas), a thriller I really enjoyed which you can currently find on VOD/On Demand. I just got off the phone with her, and while the bulk of our conversation is centered around that film (a conversation you’ll be able to read in its entirety before the film’s theatrical run on November 9th), we did speak briefly about a certain sequel many of us are dying to see happen.

So I figured I’d share this Hellboy 3 tidbit with you in the meantime before the full interview goes up. First of all, it seems like something she’s really passionate about. I didn’t even have to bring it up and I get the sense that it’s not just another job for her – it’s a role she’s invested in and an arc she wants to complete.

Head inside for what she had to say. READ MORE

[BD Selects] We’ve Acquired ‘Exit Humanity’ (A.k.a. We’re Heading to the Apocalypse With Bill Moseley!)

[BD Selects] Weve Acquired Exit Humanity (A.k.a. Were Heading to the Apocalypse With Bill Moseley!)

Bloody Disgusting is pleased to announce the U.S. acquisition of John Geddes’ post-apocalyptic Exit Humanity for DVD and VOD release as part of its Bloody Disgusting Selects film series.

It portrays a young man’s struggle to survive in the aftermath of an undead outbreak during the American Civil War. Heavily inspired by classic films such as Jeremiah Johnson and The Outlaw Josey Wales, Exit Humanity is a poetic tale told through the journal entries of its protagonist Edward Young.

The Canadian feature blends live-action and animation to explore deeper themes of fear, hope, redemption, and evil.

Starring horror icons Bill Moseley (Devil’s Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses), Dee Wallace (E.T., Cujo), Stephen McHattie (Pontypool, The Watchmen, 300), and new horror hero Mark Gibson, Exit Humanity is a zombie saga that tells the tale of the ultimate battle of good vs. evil. Brian Cox provides narration.

You’ll find the trailer inside with our image gallery here, and more at the official Facebook and website. READ MORE

Warner Bros. Lands on Ben Affleck for ‘The Stand’ Feature?

It’s looking as if Ben Affleck could be directing Warner Bros. Pictures epic battle of good vs. evil.

The studio has chosen Affleck to adapt and direct The Stand, Stephen King’s apocalyptic mammoth book, reports Deadline.

Affleck has become a cornerstone director for the studio, but this would be his greatest challenge yet. Even King has been reticent about the idea of making a feature of his book, which previously was turned into a miniseries. Affleck recently directed both The Town and Gone Baby Gone. Harry Potter‘s David Yates was the original choice.

The 1978 “The Stand” is a story of good vs. evil after a virus wipes out most of the American population. While it features dozens of characters (such as the Trashcan Man and Mother Abigail) and overlapping story lines running over many years, the struggle boils down to a group of survivors fighting the Antichrist-like Randall Flagg. Bloody Disgusting Selects: Hyper-Charged Trailer for ‘Phase 7′

It was announced yesterday that Bloody Disgusting Selects will bring the apocalypse this July with Nicolás Goldbart’s Argentine apocalyptic horror film Phase 7 (Fase 7), which opens exclusively at AMC locations on July 13 (Wednesday and Friday nights). Executive produced by Steven Schneider (Insidious, Paranormal Activity) and starring Daniel Hendler, Jazmín Stuart, Yayo Guridi and Federico Luppi (Pan’s Labyrinth), Phase 7 premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in March, and also screened at the Boston Underground Film Festival and the Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival.

We have now added the official theatrical trailer that can be viewed below. It’s a hyper-charged look at the end of the world, which comes courtesy of the New World Order. Freaky stuff….

Before its theatrical release, it will screen at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal and the Danger After Dark Festival in Philadelphia–both in early July.

The film mixes satire, humor, horror and social commentary in a way that reminds viewers of the arch Shaun of the Dead and the savvy claustrophobia of [REC].

In the film, Coco (Hendler) has just moved to a new apartment with his wife Pipi (Stuart), who’s seven months pregnant. At first, they don’t seem to notice the growing chaos around them, but when authorities quarantine their building after a deadly pandemic breaks out, Coco joins forces with his off-kilter, but well-prepared and stocked next-door neighbor Horacio to defend his refrigerator and keep Pipi safe. Meanwhile, outside the building, Buenos Aires–and the world as the apartment denizens know it, is disappearing. The world is ending; got ammo?

That’s right folks, hold onto your butts, your loved ones and your gaming console because come May 21st we’ll all be goners. Because that’s what a few people are saying, that the apocalypse is just around the corner. Whether or not this is true doesn’t really matter because one day, whether it’s this weekend or a hundred years from now when we’re all busy having sex with Cylons, the world will end. Lucky for us, gamers have an edge over the common folk because we’ve all survived some form of apocalyptic event at least once over the course of our gaming careers. Resident Evil and Left 4 Dead gave us the know how to make it if zombies ruled the world, Fallout offered invaluable tips for surviving in a nuclear war-induced wasteland and there are plenty of other games that covered more post-apocalyptic scenarios. So if you care about yourself, and I’m sure you do, I suggest reading this handy little guide to surviving whatever it is that’s thrown at us when the world inevitably ends. READ MORE

First Official Casting for ‘REC: Genesis’!

Fans of Filmax’s REC franchise get ready for two more films as co-creator Paco Plaza is now in pre-production on REC: Genesis, the third film that set up the fourth and final REC: Apocalypse.

Bloody Disgusting learned exclusively that Leticia Dolera (pictured) – who ironically played a reporter in the REC spoof Spanish Movie – and Diego Martin will topline the Spanish-language film that’s shooting to be completed in 2011.

The action in REC: Genesis encompasses the events of the first two films and after the sense of claustrophobia previously experiences. The action now takes place miles away from the original location and partly in broad daylight giving the film an entirely fresh yet disturbing new reality. The infection has left the building. In a clever twist that draws together the plots of the first two movies this third part of the saga also works as a decoder to uncover information hidden in the first two films and leaves the door open for the final installment the future REC: Apocalypse.
