Marvel Launches Infinity Crossover For Free Comic Book Day 2013!

Marvel announces their big Infinity crossover event, coming from Jonathan Hickman and Jim Cheung, will kick off on Free Comic Book Day 2013. The crossover wil pair together the Avengers, X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy, Fantastic Four, Inhumans, and Spider-Man to take on the deadly Thanos. Look for the seeds to be planted for the series beginning as early as this month. READ MORE

[NYCC '12] Marvel Prose Panel: Hawkeye and Black Widow Do The Dirty

For a room that seats a few hundred people, the Marvel Prose panel was quite empty; apparently without the pictures, you lose the fans. Already out from the Marvel Prose line is “Civil War” from Moore, and Whedon’s “Astonishing X-Men” by Peter David. Coming in 2013 are “New Avengers” in January, which will be followed by “Iron Man Extremis” by Marie Javins in April. The panel spoke about the liberties taken when adapting a comic to prose form and the new character relationships that have spawned out of that. Details follow. READ MORE

Soundgarden Release New Single “Been Away Too Long”

Soundgarden has released “Been Away Too Long”, their newest single from the upcoming album King Animal, which comes out Nov. 13th (deluxe pre-order here). The song streamed first on Banana 101.5. You can listen to the song as well as check out the King Animal trailer, see the track list, and check out the single artwork below.

Marvel was heavy on the blood with the teaser this week for a new series by Dennis Hopeless and Kev Walker for Marvel NOW! Revealed today on Marvel.com, they announced that the book will be called Avengers Arena. The series takes 16 young heroes from the Marvel Universe and pits them against one another in a Battle Royale-esque setting, organized by the villain, Arcade. Taking off the popularity of The Hunger Games, Marvel brings a bit of teenage fights to the death in “Avengers Arena”. The book will pull characters from books such as “Avengers Academy’s”, “Annihilation’s”, “Runaways’”, plus a bunch of new characters that will have to fight to survive. New Music Videos From Soundgarden, Jeffrey Nothing, And Job For A Cowboy

Today is apparently the day to release new music videos. Below you’ll find new videos from Soundgarden, Jeffrey Nothing (Mushroomhead), and Job For A Cowboy.

Soundgarden’s video is for Live To Rise, the first new track from the band in over 15 years. The song appears on the soundtrack to the upcoming film The Avengers, which hits theaters this Friday. The song will NOT appear on the upcoming Soundgarden album as it was recorded specifically for the film.

Jeffrey Nothing’s Sin O’ Cism comes off his debut album, The New Psychodalia. Revolver has an interview with him about the meaning of the song here.

Job For A Cowboy’s Imperium Wolves lyric video comes from their latest album Demonocracy, which came out April 10th via Metal Blade Records. READ MORE

What’s Coming? Avengers Vs. X-Men!

So what’s all the hoopla about this ‘It’s Coming’ teaser nonsense from Marvel? Yep, you guessed it Avengers Vs. X-Men. The publisher revealed their “secret” plans yesterday afternoon on their website as well as in USA Today that their next big event will not be run by one single man, but by a team of their best writers. Avengers Vs. X-Men will be co-written by Marvel’s five “Architect” writers: Jason Aaron, Brian Michael Bendis, Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction and Jonathan Hickman with illustrations by John Romita Jr., Olivier Coipel and Adam Kubert.
