Anna and her eight year old son Anders are under the witness protection program following a difficult relationship with Anders’ father. They move into a large apartment complex. Watch the lengths a mother will go to protect her son as Lionsgate debuts The Monitor (formerly Babycall) on DVD, Digital Download and On Demand July 24. Winner for best actress for her role in The Monitor at the Rome Film Festival in 2011, this psychological thriller stars Noomi Rapace (Prometheus, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Kristoffer Joner (King of Devil’s Island) and Henrik Rafaelsen (Happy Happy). Eerie and suspenseful, The Monitor DVD includes deleted scenes.

“After escaping an abusive husband, Anna (Rapace) and her 8-year-old son move far away to a secret location. Terrified that her ex-husband will find them, she buys a baby monitor to keep in her son’s room at all times – but she soon discovers strange noises echoing through the monitor from elsewhere in the building. As she witnesses the sounds of what she believes is another child being murdered, she fears the worst – that it’s her own son. Noomi Rapace Gets Terrorized In New Babycall Trailer

I’m obviously not a mother, but I can only imagine how freaky this trailer would be to one. Already released internationally, and opening in the US on March 30th, is Babycall, a new horror flick starring Prometheus and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo‘s Noomi Rapace.

Also starring Joner and Vetle Qvenild Werring, the Pål Sletaune-directed pic “follows Anna and her eight year old son Anders who are under the witness protection program following a difficult relationship with Anders’ father. They move into a large apartment complex. Anna becomes overprotective of her son and even buys a babycall to keep track of him. Soon, strange noises from other apartments appear on the monitor, and Anna overhears what might be the murder of a child.
