Last week Riot Fest (Chicago) revealed bands that were no longer able to perform this year (Motörhead, Bad Brains and Attack Attack!) while at the same time revealing bands that would be joining this year’s line up (Pixies, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Suicidal Tendencies, Andrew W.K., Hatebreed, T.S.O.L., Off With Their Heads, The Wonder Years, The Flatliners, Hostage Calm, The Interrupters, New Beat Fund and Pet Symmetry). While it is sad that a couple of the bands had to drop off I feel what’s being put in their place isn’t too shabby. In addition to the the new bands Riot Fest has also released single day passes along with what bands will be playing specific days. Both of which you can find past the break.
Coming soon to Southern California, MusInk 2013 will be combining some of punk’s finest acts with some of the best artists the tattoo industry has to offer. The three day festival begins Friday, Mar. 8th and runs through the weekend. The festival will see performances from bands such as Reverend Horton Heat, Bad Religion, Pennywise (who recently reunited with all four original members), TSOL, and more. Tattoo fans will be able to meet with such artists as Jack Rudy, Robert Atkinson, Small Paul, Tomas Garcia, and more. In total, there will be over 300 tattoo artists showcasing their craft. Tickets are available here.

It’s Friday which means it’s time for another Twisted Music Video Of The Week to kick off your weekend. Today I bring you “Choking Victim” from Fear And The Nervous System. Featuring Munky from Korn, Billy Gould of Faith No More, and Brooks Wackerman of Bad Religion, and more, this is definitely a band worth checking out. Their debut album was also just released this past week, so make sure to pick up a copy on iTunes.
The video has influences of Rob Zombie‘s Halloween (only done well) and is certainly made for the horror fan. Check it out below!
As always, leave a comment with your suggestion for next week’s edition! READ MORE
Located in Ithaca, New York, Pyramid Sound Studios was founded by Alex Perialas in 1974. In the 80′s, this studio was responsible for recording artists such as Bad Religion, Anthrax, Testament, Overkill, Agnostic Front, and many more. Not only catering to national acts, the studio also recorded many local artists, solidifying its place as a staple of the local music scene. Now this studio faces possible condemnation in the face of renovations being one to the Clinton St. Bridge. Local officials have their hands tied as, legally, bridge renovation is a federally funded endeavor.
Perialas states, “This is one of those things that is a state and city project where they’re replacing a 70-year-old bridge and its right in our footprint, if you will. With the building of this new bridge, there’s a chance that if they aren’t careful, they could do damage to the studio. I’m currently working with the administration to land on an amicable solution to the situation. This has been a landmark facility for years. We pretty much created a style of music here that people had never heard of before. It would be a shame to lose such an integral part of music history due to this temporary construction.”
Are you ready for another music super group? How about this: Munky from Korn, Billy Gould from Faith No More, Steve Krolikowski from Repeater, and Brooks Wackerman from Bad Religion. Holy s#^t! Talk about a gathering of badass musicians! Well, these guys have been jamming for quite a while and are now ready to unleash their music upon the world. If you head to their official website, you can download a free mp3 of their song Choking Victim (hear it after the jump). Seriously though, this song is awesome and I highly recommend checking it out. It’s a great way to kick off the July 4th weekend. READ MORE
