Lately, I’ve been feeling my age a little bit. Things like knowing that the original The Legend of Zelda came out 27 years ago as well as the 3D rerelease of Jurassic Park are sharp reminders that I’m no longer a spring chicken. These thoughts make me yearn for a time when things were a bit more innocent, a bit more simple.
That’s the feeling I get when seeing Bat For Lashes new video for ‘Lilies’, which comes off her latest album The Haunted Man (review“). Watching it, I’m reminded of films like Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal and books like Where The Wild Things Are. There are strange, outlandish monsters but there is something playful and reassuring about them. Give it a view below and let nostalgia work its way into you. READ MORE
The full Coachella 2013 lineup has been unveiled and…well, it’s pretty boring. There are some pretty cool entries, such as the first ever live performance of How To Destroy Angels, or Ghost and I’d definitely be up for Bat For Lashes and Wu-Tang Clan, but not terribly much else pops out. Then again, I will fully admit that Coachella is not the type of festival that is aimed at my type of audience, so I’m sure there are countless thousands of people that are collectively crapping their pants at this festival. Below is the official poster with the full lineup.
The festival will take place April 12th-14th and again on April 19th-21st. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, Jan. 29th here. READ MORE

Yep! It’s that time of year again. Thanksgiving is on Thursday, which means dutiful consumers are already preparing for the Holiday Shopping Season. If you think you’re exempt from that, think again. Either you know a fellow horror fan (or family member) in need, or you want something for yourself! You can take this as advice for what to buy, or what to ask for.
So we’re kicking things off this year with our music list! I know a lot of you folks are into metal, and we’ve got plenty of that. But we’ve also got a few surprises tucked in there as well! Extra thanks to Jonathan Barkan for his suggestions, they’re designated as “JB”.
Btw, I’ve mainly included iTunes links – they have a “gift” option – to these releases. Even though I prefer discs, I realize I’m a relic so I’m saving links to physical products for the special Box Sets where it’s really worth it to go whole-hog and impress someone special. Head inside to check it out! READ MORE
Alright, so I’ll fully admit that this edition of Twisted Music Video Of The Week is partly to promote our Bat For Lashes contest we have going on. But that doesn’t change the fact that the video for “Daniel” is dark, atmospheric, eerie, and those people dressed in black move like the nurses from Silent Hill (totally going to see the new movie later tonight). It’s also a beautiful song, one that I have to leave on once it starts. Check out the video below and, as always, leave a comment with your suggestion for next week’s video!
“Daniel” comes off of Two Suns (iTunes). READ MORE

It was in 2009 that I got hooked into Bat For Lashes’ sophomore album Two Suns. Something about the haunting, ethereal songs touched me and I was unable to stop listening to the album for a good few weeks. I still come back to it on occasion, playing the album from beginning to end without skipping a single track. But there came a point where I realized that, for as much as I loved those songs, I wanted something new, a new journey to undertake.
So when I heard that a new album was on the way, I was immediately intrigued and full of anticipation. After all, Bat For Lashes puts out a style of music that I don’t really hear anywhere else, so it’s like getting a breath of fresh air, a new playground in which to have fun. And so I entered into The Haunted Man with somewhat baited breath, wondering if it could match what I had wanted for the past year. READ MORE
