[Podcast] 40oz. Of Horror EP 43: Chad Visits Eli Roth’s Goretorium And We Argue Netflix’s Original Series

We’re back from vacation. The 40oz. Of Horror Podcast was absent last week, but with good reason — Chad was MIA while visiting Eli Roth’s Goretorium. Is it worth the cost of admission? Chad has the answer.

Are Netflix original series worthy of marathon viewings? Chad and James go toe-to-toe and duke it out over original on-demand television — what is your opinion?

In WTF News, we talk about a company who will mail your enemies… well, something brown and smelly. And of course we have tons of horror news to catch you up.

Also, we must apologize for the drunken shitshow that was last episode. If you were drinking along, sorry for your hangover.

How Much Would ‘Psycho’s’ Bates Motel Sell For?

With A&E’s “Bates Motel” now airing Monday nights, Movoto’s regular readers were apparently thinking about the middle-of-nowhere deathtrap known as the Bates Motel. They wanted to know how much it would cost to purchase the creepy motel from Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho and set up shop.

Their best guess is that the original Bates Motel from the Alfred Hitchcock movie would cost evil investors just over $800,000 if it were placed on the market today. Why is the price so low? There are two reasons. “First, Norman Bates’s murder shack is located in an out-of-the-way location, which is good for killing weary travelers, but not so great for tourists. The second—and probably biggest—factor is that the motel is relatively tiny. Afterall, it is a mom and son business.” Says the writer, “If you want to know how I figured it out, lock your doors and conveniently forget to shower.READ MORE

[TV] Get Norman Bates’ Manga Sketchbook Here (Whatever That Means)

I still havent’ gotten around to A&E’s premiere episode of “Bates Motel,” yet (I was pulled away from it right as I was starting) so I’m going to have to take the official word on this one.

For those that are still catching up on the series Norman Bates discovers a sketchbook hidden underneath the carpeting in one of the rooms at the Bates Motel. Inside, he finds Chinese writing and manga sketches, immediately becoming captivated by the drawings. Norman, along with his classmate and friend Emma Decody, begin to dig deeper into the story behind the sketches and stumble upon a bigger mystery than either of them could have imagined. As the season unfolds, more characters from the manga are introduced and more secrets exposed; this book is the story of one of those characters.

[TV] Images From “Bates Motel” Episode 1.02, “Nice Town You Picked, Norma”

I was a huge fan of A&E’s premiere episode of “Bates Motel,” which has since gone online here for those who missed it.

In episode 1.01, “First You Dream, Then You Die,” “After the tragic death of her husband, Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga) buys a motel on the outskirts of an idyllic coastal town seeking a fresh start. Her handsome and shy teenage son Norman (Freddie Highmore) quickly catches the eyes of the local girls, much to his mother’s horror. Norma and Norman soon discover the idyllic town isn’t what it seems.

We now have a stack of images from episode 1.02, “Nice Town You Picked, Norma.” In the episode, Dylan immediately begins causing trouble; the Bates are drawn into the secrets surrounding White Pine Bay.

[TV] “Bates Motel” Video Bonanza: Several Videos Tease Premiere Season!

This evening A&E (you know, that joke of a channel jam-packed with “Storage Wars” shows) took a step in a new and bold direction with “Bates Motel,” a dark and disturbing new spin on the Psycho lore.
