[TV] See Norman And Norma Argue In This “Bates Motel” Teaser That Has Us Starting Over

Is this the first actual footage from “Bates Motel” that we’ve seen? Going through the posts, I think it might be our first look at stuff actually culled from an episode. I actually like the mother/son stuff here. Not so hot on the dayglo rave stuff though. Who knows? Maybe the show makes it work?

The series stars Academy Award nominee Vera Farmiga (“Up in the Air,” “The Departed”), Freddie Highmore (“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Finding Neverland”), Max Thieriot (“Disconnect”), Olivia Cooke (“Blackout”) and Nicola Peltz (“The Last Airbender”). Season one also co-stars Nestor Carbonell (“Lost,” “The Dark Knight Rises”) and Mike Vogel (“Pan Am”).

In “Bates Motel,” following the tragic death of her husband, Norma Bates buys a motel on the outskirts of the idyllic coastal town of White Pine Bay, seeking a fresh start. As Norma and Norman get ensconced in their new home, they discover this town isn’t quite what it seems, and the locals aren’t so quick to let them in on their secrets. But the Bates’ are done being pushed around and will do whatever it takes to survive – and will do whatever it takes to protect their own secrets.

On The A&E Network from executive producers Carlton Cuse (“Lost”) and Kerry Ehrin (“Friday Night Lights”) – the show debuts on Monday, March 18 at 10 PM ET/PT. Head inside for the spot! READ MORE

[TV Bites] Hi-Res “Bates Motel” Poster; “Cult” Opening Credits; “True Blood” Season 6 Images!

In addition to a hi-res look at the “Bates Motel” teaser poster (airing Monday, March 18 at 10 PM ET/PT on A&E), we’ve got two more television bites to kickstart your morning.

First, check out the opening credits for CW’s “Cult,” which promises that seeing is deceiving. ““Cult” follows Jeff (Matt Davis), who’s a journalist blogger (all of us professional bloggers are extremely handsome and heroic, don’t you know, and it’s about time broadcast TV recognized it). He teams with Skye (Jessica Lucas), a production assistant on a popular television crime series called Cult, as they investigate the fans of the series who are re-creating the crimes on the show.” Added meta twist: The fictional version of Cult airs on a fictional version of The CW within the show. “Cult” premieres Tuesday, February 19.

Also inside, we’ve got a few looks behind-the-scenes of “True Blood’s” sixth season, taking us to the home being used for “The Governor” of Louisiana. The images come courtesy of Alexander Skarsgård Fans. “Here is Arliss Howard rehearsing the scene. His character is not a big fan of vampires,” says the site. Academy Awards TV Promo Jokes On ‘Psycho’

The Academy Awards are coming, and frankly, we don’t give a shit. The pretentious garbage of an awards ceremony neglects genre films, treating them like they can’t be art in the eyes of snot-nosed academy members. And each year they try and play to us fans, acting like they give a shit. They don’t, let’s get that straight right now.

ABC released the following promo for this year’s Oscars, which air February 24th. It features host Seth MacFarlane staying at the Bates Motel where Norman is making a ruckus. It’s an obvious reference to the new series, “Bates Motel,” premiering this spring on A&E.

Keep it down. I have a meeting in four hours,” MacFarlane jokes as Janet Leigh screams in terror. READ MORE

I’m not entirely sold on the idea of this being a modern day show, complete with iPhones and Norman being a fan of Manga (apparently), but I’ll give it a shot! TV: A&E’s ‘Psycho’ Prequel “Bates Motel” Goes To Series

A few months ago A&E announced it was in early development on “Bates Motel,” and that it would serve as a prequel to the Alfred Hitchcock 1960 classic Psycho. The plan was to offer an understanding into how Norman Bates’ psyche developed and would tell the back story of the film’s killer. The audience was to learn of how his mother and her lover damaged him, transforming him into serial-killing motel owner.

And that plan looks like it’s going swimmingly. Apparently their faith in exec producer Carlton Cuse (formerly the showrunner of “Lost”) is stronger than expected because they’ve committed the project to series without seeing a pilot. Per Variety, “Cabler has ordered 10 episodes of the Universal Television series while forgoing a pilot. A&E’s faith in not asking for pilot first comes in the form of former “Lost” showrunner Carlton Cuse, who will exec produce with Kerry Ehrin.

We are proud to be partnering with Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin on their thrilling reinvention of one of the most compelling characters in cinematic history,” said A&E president Bob DeBitetto and exec VP of programming David McKillop in a joint statement. “It’s a provocative project from two of the best storytellers in the business and we’re looking forward to getting started.

“Bates Motel” premieres in 2013. Who do you think should play Norman Bates?

Carlton Cuse has joined the Roy Lee and Mark Wolper produced series.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, “Carlton Cuse, who along with Damon Lindelof executive produced and acted as showrunners of ABC’s “Lost”, is boarding A&E’s “The Bates Motel”. If the show is picked up to series, Cuse will executive produce and oversee the writing and production what is being envisioned intially as a six-episode “event” that would lead to additional seasons. It also marks the first “genre” TV project for Cuse since his acclaimed run on “Lost”.

The show, “aims to tell the story of a young Bates and how his life with his deranged mother and her lover unhinged his mind, eventually turning him into a serial killer. It has been described as a cross between “Twin Peaks” and “Smallville”.READ MORE
