Isaac Clarke Joins The Cast Of ‘PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale’

Everyone’s favorite engineer-turned-Necromorph slaying badass is taking a break from strategically dismembering monsters to make an appearance in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale — ya know, that Sony version of Super Smash Bros. I haven’t had a chance to play it yet, but this certainly piques my interest a bit. See him curb-stomp that chick from Heavenly Sword after the jump.

[TV] “Battle Royale” Television Series NOT Going To Happen

TV Guide Magazine tweets that there is not a “Battle Royale” television series in development, as previously reported earlier last year.

Forget what you heard about #TheCW developing #BattleRoyale,” says the mag, “CW boss Pedowitz says it was a single phone call that went nowhere. #tca13

Nice of them to have a single phone call, alert the press, break the news, and then back-peddle. I call bullshit on that. Bullshit or not, it isn’t happening anymore, so back to sort of caring about The Hunger Games

[OMFG] Watch ‘Halloween’ Re-Envisioned With ‘Battle Royale’ Characters!!!

I flippin’ love October. Forget Halloween, the entire month is jam-packed with juicy morsels of goodness courtesy of talented individuals from all over the world.

I had just sat down for the day when I was e-mailed by Raynor Shimabukuro, who produced the following must-see short entitled “Halloween vs Battle Royale”. Created by Gigi Saul Guererro and Luke Bramley, the Lucha Gore Production stars Mayumi Yoshita, Emi Kamito, Liz Cha, Sharon Lin and Jonathan Woodhall as Michael Myers!

Inside you’ll find their mash-up that imagines John Carpenter’s Halloween had it starred characters from Kinji Fukasaku’s legendary Battle Royale. To top it all off, it’s incredibly well made (bonus!). READ MORE

Hey Guys! Do You Think ‘Battle Royale’ Should Be A Teen Show On CW!?! They’re Thinking About It!

Wow. If you guys were concerned about The Hunger Games (which I liked) watering down the themes of Kinji Fukasaku’s classic Battle Royale, then I’m guessing you’ll be about – I dunno – a billion times more concerned about this development. The CW is considering making a “Battle Royale” TV Series. I’m usually open minded about things, but I think I’m having a stroke right now.

This isn’t a joke, it’s a possibility that’s actually being explored. The Neil Moritz/Roy Lee-produced remake never quite got off the ground (due in part to the success of The Hunger Games), but that doesn’t mean a TV show is out of the question. Per The LA Times, “In the last few weeks, the CW has had talks with the project’s Hollywood representatives about the possibility of turning the property into an English-language show, said a person with knowledge of the situation who was not authorized to speak about it publicly. The talks were preliminary, but if a deal could be reached, the network would acquire rights to Koushun Takami’s underlying novel, then unpack and expand on it for an hourlong dramatic series.

While it’s not a done deal, we now live in a world where it’s somewhat possible you’ll hear the words, “Next, after ‘Gossip Girl’, stay tuned for ‘Battle Royale’.”

What do you guys think? Is there any way they could pull this off and make it work? I just don’t see it – but I’m super curious to hear what the actual pitch is.

[Double Dip This!] ‘Battle Royale’: Arrow Films vs. Anchor Bay

After a little over a decade, Battle Royale was finally picked up by Anchor Bay for stateside distribution. We were thankfully not subjected to a 3D release, but the film did begin a brief theatrical run late last year, eleven years after it was originally unleashed on the world. Now, after being almost impossible to distribute due to post-Columbine backlash and MPAA concerns – try imagining this thing cut down to an R and tell me there would even be a movie left. READ MORE
