Taking Back Sunday To Perform Two Hurricane Sandy Benefit Concerts

Punk rock band Taking Back Sunday have announced that two of their upcoming 10th anniversary Tell All Your Friends shows will be benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The first show takes two shows scheduled for the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ (originally scheduled for Nov. 16th and Nov. 25th) and will combine them into one “megashow” that will take place at the Pine Belt Arena on Sunday, Nov. 25th. Tickets for both of those shows will be honored at the new venue, which has a bigger capacity, allowing more tickets to be sold (they are available here). Support will come from Bayside, The Menzingers, and Kenny Truhn. A portion of all tickets sales will go to the Toms River Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund.

The second show will take place this Friday, Nov. 16th, at the Best Buy Theater in New York City and will see support come from Bayside, and The Menzingers. 100% of ticket sales will go to relief efforts in and around Long Beach, where several TBS members are originally from.

Taking Back Sunday bassist Shaun Cooper said, “We’re devastated to see all of the damage this natural disaster caused in our community and the communities around us, but it is always inspiring to see people come together and push forward. We’re making the best of this difficult situation. Thanks to the fans for the continued support and understanding why these changes needed to take place. We would also like to thank the Starland Ballroom for helping coordinate these efforts despite being located in an affected area.READ MORE

Terrible Things Debut Album Out Aug. 31st

When arson claimed the homes of over 40 families in his hometown of Coatesville, Pennsylvania from 2008 to 2009, the emotional trauma of the tragedy spurred Fred Mascherino (ex-Taking Back Sunday) to pick up his guitar and start penning music for his new all-star supergroup Terrible Things, which includes Josh Eppard (Coheed & Cambria) and Andy Jackson (Hot Rod Circuit). Their self-titled major label debut will be released on August 31, 2010 via Universal Motown and was produced and mixed by Jason Elgin (Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster, Collective Soul) and mastered by Roger Lian (Bayside, Coheed & Cambria). “The album cover is metaphoric to what was going on in my town last year and it was actually pretty emotional for me watching that house go up in flames,” Fred says of the image of his two children having a tea party while a nearby dollhouse is engulfed in flames. Fortunately for Terrible Things, the only thing that will be on fire will be the band, as they blaze a trail this Summer for a handful of shows on the 2010 Vans Warped Tour and October dates supporting Mae (tour dates inside).
