New Nine Inch Nails Music Confirmed…For 2014

Remember when Trent Reznor confirmed that new Nine Inch Nails music was in the works? Yeah, well it seems like we’re gonna have to wait a little while, according to an article by The New Yorker. The first sampling of new music is apparently going to be on a “Best Of” compilation album that will feature two new tracks. Supposedly a new NIN album will follow sometime after that.

On top of that, Reznor fully explained what his collaboration with Beats By Dre is all about: music streaming. Currently called Daisy, the service “…uses mathematics to offer suggestions to the listener… [but also] would present choices based partly on suggestions made by connoisseurs, making it a platform in which the machine and the human would collide more intimately.” It is set to be released early next year.

Reznor also says that the difference between Daisy and Spotify is that, “…you’re not stumbling into anything. What’s missing is a service that adds a layer of intelligent curation.

He finished describing Daisy as “…like having your own guy when you go into the record store, who knows what you like but can also point you down some paths you wouldn’t necessarily have encountered.”

You know what? That sounds pretty interesting! However, I’m curious to know what kind of pricing model will be used to pay the artists whose music is streamed. READ MORE

Trent Reznor Working On New Secret Project

Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails, How To Destroy Angels) has taken to his Facebook page to announce that he is working on a project that involves Dr. Dre, Jimmy Iovine, Luke Wood, who are all behind the Beats By Dre. While no details were given regarding the project or the style of music, Reznor states that this project is something out of normal element and that we will begin to see this work emerge in 2013.

Reznor’s official statement reads, “Some of you may have read that I have begun working with Beats By Dre. For the past year I have indeed been involved with Dre, Jimmy Iovine, Luke Wood, and the rest of the team on a number of very interesting projects that will start to emerge next year. I have been wanting to experiment and focus my energy and creativity in some different directions, and Beats has afforded me that very opportunity. The process has been challenging and fascinating and as much as I’d like to tell you about the things we’ve dreamed up… I just can’t. Not yet…(I can tell you it’s probably not what you’re expecting!)

Who’s got some guesses as to what we’re going to hear? READ MORE
