Rockstar Mayhem Energy Festival 2013 Lineup Announced And It’s AWESOME

The sixth annual Rockstar Energy Mayhem festival lineup has been unveiled and I’m already beginning to lose my mind! The festival will be headlined by shock rocker/horror director Rob Zombie along with Five Finger Death Punch and will also see performances from Children Of Bodom, Machine Head, Behemoth, Job For A Cowboy, and many more.

Personally I’m very excited to see Rob Zombie again as well as get a first chance to see Behemoth, Amon Amarth, and Battlecross.

[OMFG] New Couple Uses “Raining Blood” As Wedding Intro

Newly wed couple Dan Phillipps and wife Kinga decided to start their wedding off with a bit of a bang by entering the hall to Slayer‘s “Raining Blood”. In a story to Blabbermouth.net, Phillipps stated, “Slayer has always been a very special band to me. Slayer, Metallica and Anthrax were the reasons I got into heavy metal. I remember first hearing ‘Hell Awaits’ in 1987 and being blown away. I never heard anything like it.

“When I first met Kinga, I didn’t know she was into extreme music. She’s from Poland so I randomly asked her if she heard of Behemoth or Vader. To my surprise, she heard of them and had seen them live in concert a few times. So we instantly clicked. Our second date was a Rotting Christ concert.

“When I was planning our wedding intro, I knew that I didn’t want your typical wedding music for our intro. I spoke to Kinga about it and she agreed. A standard wedding intro just didn’t seem right for my wife and I. Something about the ‘Raining Blood’ intro seemed like the perfect walk-out music for us. I got goosebumps just thinking about it. Most of my friends and family loved our intro. They said it was perfect for my wife and I.

Become The Ultimate Hell’s Angels Member With The Behemoth Motorcycle

In what might become the most metal mode of transportation, Polish custom motorcycle shop Game Over Cycles will be unveiling the official Behemoth motorcycle this May. A video can be seen below that shows bits and pieces of the bike being put together, although a full revealing shot is not given (such teases). Playing over the short video are excerpts from Behemoth’s song “Ov Fire And The Void”.

Just so you know, the only appropriate way to ride this motorcycle is to wear corpse paint whenever you’re on the road. Anything less is simply unacceptable. READ MORE

Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival Announcing Line Up In March

One of the biggest summer festivals in the US, the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival has been bringing quality metal from countries all over the world, from platinum selling artists to underground artists that deserve a chance, and all at a pretty damn good price. Honestly, I’m a huge fan of the tour because it’s usually got at least three or four bands that I love checking out live and would normally not get an opportunity to see on such a large scale.

As for this year’s lineup, nothing has been officially announced (although Polish death metal band Behemoth is almost certainly confirmed [source]). However, that isn’t stopping the tour from teasing their fans and building up anticipation. Below is a video that shows past years and what the festival looked like along with the announcement that the full lineup will be revealed on Mar. 18th. READ MORE

Metal Blade Records Celebrates 30th Anniversary By Offering Free Music

It’s hard to believe that Metal Blade Records has been around for 30 years but here they are, still rocking and bringing some of the very best metal to fans ears. To celebrate this occasion, Metal Blade teamed up with Scion A/V to bring a free showcase concert with performances from Six Feet Under, Cattle Decapitation, Battlecross, Gypsyhawk, and Pilgrim. While there, Scion A/V conducted interviews with each band as well as recorded the showcase to release a 7″ featuring a track from both Gypsyhawk and Pilgrim. You can download the 7″ below and head on over here to see some awesome interviews.

I look back at Metal Blade and, while I’ve enjoyed some of their more recent years, I cannot thank them enough for introducing me to bands like GWAR, The Black Dahlia Murder, Behemoth, Battlecross, Mercyful Fate, and so many, many more. Metal Blade is one of those labels that didn’t just release music, they helped shaped the very foundation of metal would become.

And so I raise my official Metal Blade pint glass and say, “Congratulations Metal Blade on making it to 30 years. Here’s to another 30 of you kicking asses all over the place!” READ MORE

Behemoth Frontman Nergal May Face Up To Two Years In Jail

Even though he was acquitted of all charges by a judge in 2011 for a similar case, Behemoth frontman Adam “Nergal” Darski is once again facing jail time for anti-Catholic statements made during a 2007 concert in Poland, including calling the Catholic Church, “the most murderous cult on the planet”. He is also being accused of tearing apart a Bible, calling it “a book of lies”. If found guilty, Darski faces up to two years in prison. The Polish Supreme Court is labeling this a “blasphemy verdict”, according to Reuters.

Conservative former member of the Polish Parliament and lobbyist for Darski’s conviction, Ryszard Nowak exults, “The Supreme Court said clearly that there are limits for artists which cannot be crossed.

Darski’s lawyer, Jacek Potulski, states “[The decision] is negative and restricts the freedom of speech. The court decided that this is allowed in a democratic system.” However, the legal team has not given up, saying, “We are still arguing that we were dealing with art, which allows more critical and radical statements.

Below is video footage of the incident in question. READ MORE

Behemoth’s Nergal Is Out Of The Hospital

After losing Ronnie James Dio, Peter Steele, and with Chi Cheng still in a semi-conscious state, it’s always a joy to hear that an ailing musician is doing better. Behemoth’s Nergal is out of the hospital, four weeks after receiving a bone marrow transplant. Below are some messages from Nergal.

“Hey! What’s up! At last – one could say. After almost half a year of treatment in various hospitals, several cycles of chemotherapy, irradiation and a bone marrow transplant, I have been finally released home in a pretty fuckin’ good condition. I’m feeling ok, taking the intensity of treatment under consideration. That was not an easy period of my life, but, as I envisioned, I left the hospital victorious. I never considered any other options, but anyway, there were rough moments too… At this point I must express my thanks to the people who made all of those downs fairly bearable. My parents – thank you. You deserve a monument for all your love and patience. Dorotka, thank you for your heroic attitude, love and support. I can’t forget Doda’s fans, who made a gigantic effort for me and other ill people. You rule! Absolutely fantastic Behemoth fans from all over the world were organizing various events to make people aware of what leukemia is. To all of you out there – my deepest respect! Thank you – the real heroes – Prof. Hellmann, Dr. Piekarska, Dr. Knopinska, Doc. Giebel, Prof. Hołowiecki and all the nurses of the hematology division of the Medical Academy in Gdansk and the Oncology Clinic in Gliwice for all the professionalism and great hearts. My band mates for all the friendship and never-ending support. All my friends for sticking to me throughout the whole period of my illness. The list is too long to mention you all, but remember, you have special place in my heart.”

Nergal will now go through a recovery which will last for several months. During this time he will stay in his flat in one of the Gdansk’s districts.

“Although the whole treatment went really good, as well as the bone marrow transplant and the post-transplant period, the next several months is the time when I must really take care of myself. Of course I will have plenty of time to recover, think about the strategy and my return to the stage – which approaches imminently (laughs). First of all however I must rebuild my physical condition… apart from that, I hunger for playing, I haven’t been playing the guitar for a half of year now! Really much to catch up, but also a huge motivation and a desire to work again at the same time. This year will be a really important one for me and the band!” READ MORE

Behemoth’s Nergal Has Found A Donor!

Behemoth’s Nergal has checked in from the hospital to announce that a matching donor has been found! Diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year, Nergal has been receiving treatment in a hospital in Poland since then. Nergal has issued a statement:

“Hello, everyone! I’m still in the hospital but in quite a good shape so I write to let you know about my health and the further stages of treatment. I’ve been through four planned chemotherapies and have stayed in hospital for over 3 months now. I’ve gone through the whole therapy smoothly, though I also had a couple of difficult moments. All this means I have finished the stage of pharmacological treatment and I am about to start the irradiation and then the marrow transplant. Yes, we’ve found a donor! Having searched for months, the foundation has found a person whose genotype is identical to mine. It would have been difficult to achieve if it wasn’t for the support of so many people. Most of all, I want to express my admiration for Dorota – my wonderful and devoted fiancee. She did everything she could to help me and many other people, regardless of adversities and comments which were often unfair. Your help is invaluable! Thank you! I love you. On behalf of me and all other people ill I thank everyone who registered in the bone marrow bank regardless of origin, skin colour or religion. The concerts for charity have been organized all over the world and people of show business, bands and, most of all, the fans got deeply involved. You are beyond great! One of you made my transplant possible, but remember, your attitude may save many others in need. So I appeal to everyone: don’t stop the madness! The march for victory continues! Horns up!’

Behemoth’s Nergal Responds To All Well-Wishers

Since news on Nergal’s recent health issues has been released, the band, management, and label has received an overwhelming response from fans and bands all over the world asking how they can directly help Nergal. In response to everyone offering his or her help in terms of setting up benefits and shows to raise money for the frontman of the Polish blackened death metal band BEHEMOTH, Nergal has issued the following statement:
“I haven’t intended to manifest myself in any way and, especially at this stage, to share my feelings or any other news with the world for obvious reasons. It is simply too early for it. But it was YOU who provoked me to say a few words. Regarding my personal low opinion of humankind, I’m shocked by the reaction to my illness. I actually expected NOTHING yet received feedback which surpassed all expectations. I want to ensure you I read EACH mail I receive, although I’m unable to reply to all of them. The power of your words is pure magic and I thank you all for it. You are a gigantic indestructible army that truly inspires me in this difficult time. The fact is that a fight with this illness is going to last for many months. Most of this time I will spend in hospital and I will go through various psychophysical states. If you know the history of Behemoth you also know we achieved everything by hard work and a steely determination. The same goes for my private life. I happen to be a strong son of a bitch. I have no faith but rely on a 100% victory and I am sure I will get out of it stronger than ever. Sun Tzu in his ‘Art of War’ said that if you know your enemy and yourself the result of a thousand battles will not surprise you… I enter the ring with this Nietzschean attitude and I will leave it as a winner, as usual. Just watch and see!
