Behind-The-Scenes Video For ‘Pacific Rim’ Explores The Amazing Jaeger Piloting System

I love this behind the scenes glimpse (via IGN) at Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim because it shares and explores one of the movies most interesting concepts. If you’re a Jaeger pilot, your co-pilot has to know everything about you. Literally. I think this is the key to lending the film some immense human relationship stakes without having to break away from the action too much, the film combines the two.

In theaters July 12, “When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Robert Kazinsky, Ron Perlman, Max Martini, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff and Brad William Henke all star. READ MORE

New First Look Featurette For ‘World War Z’ Gets You Up To Speed

Paramount has released an EPK style first look featurette from Marc Forster’s World War Z, their zombie movies raising the dead on June 21. The video includes comments from the cast and creative team along with some footage, nothing earth shattering though.

Starring Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, Matthew Fox and David Morse, the one-sheet displays a mile-high piling of rotting, decaying zombies attacking a helicopter.

The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop a pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen. READ MORE

New Set Pics From ‘Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes’ Mo-Cap In The Woods

We’ve got our first behind the scenes look at Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to Twentieth Century Fox’s 2011′s hit franchise reboot Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Matt Reeves is currently directing the sequel, which has already enlisted Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, and Gary Oldman playing some human characters with Judy Greer and Andy Serkis (and many others) playing the chimps. These photos from the Daily Mail cropped up after a shoot in the woods that presumably features both humans and chimps, since Russell and Clarke look normal and Serkis is wearing the mo-cap dots.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, in theaters May 23, 2014, continues the story of how ultra-intelligent simian Caesar (Andy Serkis) presides over the fall of human civilization. After the apes break out of their facility, a virus breaks out that causes the collapse of human society. The new project is taking the story to the next level, with the apes on the path to emerge as society’s new rulers.

Exclusive Clip From ‘The Collection’ Blu-ray Takes A Look At The Film’s Practical Effects!

The Collection arrives on Blu-ray Disc, DVD, Digital Download and Video On Demand today March 26th from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. The Blu-ray Disc and DVD will both feature Ultraviolet Digital Copy. The Blu-ray and DVD include audio commentary with Director/Co-Writer Marcus Dunstan and Co-Writer Patrick Melton and a host of special features – from one of which this exclusive clip was taken. The Collection follows a twisted madman who “collects” humans in a booby-trapped house of horrors. Starring Josh Stewart (The Dark Knight Rises), the film also stars Emma Fitzpatrick (The Social Network), Lee Tergesen (Texas Chainsaw: The Beginning) and Christopher McDonald (HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire”), and is written by established horror writing team Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan (Feast series, Saw IV – Saw 3D: The Final Chapter). Directed by Dunstan, it is the second time he has directed a film the pair has written.

See Bane Without His Pants In This Behind-The-Scenes Video From ‘Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones’

If you’re looking forward to Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, then perhaps you know who Magnus Bane is. I have no idea, personally, aside from the fact that he’s played by Godfrey Gao. Anyway, MTV caught up with Gao on the set and the rest, as they say, is some middling promo material.

And then we’ve got a behind-the-scenes look at Mr. Zombie onset as well as a snapshot of Sheri Moon Zombie and Bill Moseley chilling in between takes.

Mama

New Featurette Takes You Inside ‘Mama’!

Gearing up for the January 18 release, Universal has released a new behind-the-scenes clip from Mama, the Guillermo del Toro-produced horror thriller about a group of feral children raised by something sinister. The video features interviews with Del Toro, Jessica Chastain and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau along with some new footage!

Five years ago, sisters Victoria and Lilly vanished from their suburban neighborhood without a trace. Since then, their Uncle Lucas (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and his girlfriend, Annabel (Jessica Chastain), have been madly searching for them. But when, incredibly, the kids are found alive in a decrepit cabin, the couple wonders if the girls are the only guests they have welcomed into their home. As Annabel tries to introduce the children to a normal life, she grows convinced of an evil presence in their house. Are the sisters experiencing traumatic stress, or is a ghost coming to visit them? How did the broken girls survive those years all alone? As she answers these disturbing questions, the new mother will find that the whispers she hears at bedtime are coming from the lips of a deadly presence.

Jessica Chastain, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Megan Charpentier, Isabelle Nélisse and Daniel Kash all star. The pic is based on a short of the same name and was directed by Andres Muschietti from a script he wrote with Barbara Muschietti. Head inside for the clip! READ MORE

New Clips From ‘Warm Bodies’ Shuffle In Ahead Of Some Behind-The-Scenes Footage!

Summit Entertainment has just released 3 new clips and over 10 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage from All the Boys Love Mandy Lane and 50/50 director Jonathan Levine’s Warm Bodies. I really like the unique tone to the clips and I think this movie is using the zombie metaphor in ways that have previously gone untapped. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out Part One of my Set Visit, as Part Two hits tomorrow.

In theaters February 1, “Warm Bodies is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human – setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform the other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world.

Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Rob Corddry, John Malkovich and Analeigh Tipton all star. Head inside for the clips! READ MORE
