NEW ‘The Evil Within’ Footage Leaks Out, Watch It Before It’s Taken Down! [UPDATE]

This video probably won’t stay up for too long, so I suggest checking it out before Bethesda tears the video down. Youtuber GammersStyle has posted a video recorded during one of the behind-closed-doors press showings of Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s The Evil Within. The only gameplay we’ve seen so far has revolved around Sebastian’s trying to escape from a chainsaw-wielding maniac — this video has all new footage, including a bloody hall scene that’s more than a little reminiscent of The Shining and a brief look at that bloody four-armed boss lady.

It’s shoddily recorded and the cameraman has a nasty habit of only capturing the top half of the screen, but don’t let that keep you from enjoying a brief sneak peak of this crazy exciting next-gen horror game.

[E3 2013] ‘Wolfenstein: The New Order’ Trailer Alters History

In this brand Nazi-spanking new trailer for Wolfenstein: The New Order, bombs drop, stuff goes boom, and a man with a really deep voice narrates the whole thing. Unfortunately, this is mostly live-action, so you won’t see much of the game until it switches to gameplay at around the 1:30 mark. It looks… gritty. I’m wondering how much of the supernatural element will translate to The New Order, if any. That’s always been my favorite thing about the Wolfenstein series. Check out the new trailer after the break.

New ‘The Evil Within’ Screens Emerge

Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s next game is The Evil Within, a horror game that aims to bring horror back. Where did it go? No one knows. We haven’t seen much of the game outside of an unnerving live-action trailer and a bunch of screenshots, and today, we can add a few more screenshots to that list. It looks terrifying, and we can look forward to hearing more from the game at E3 next month.

In the meantime, you should definitely check out my The Evil Within wish list.

6 Things I Want From ‘The Evil Within’

All this talk about the next generation of consoles has gotten be excited for the next generation of video games. Oh, the Xbox One lets us watch TV on our TV? That’s neat and all, but I’d much rather hear all about the amazing games I’ll be playing on it.

The Evil Within is one of the more exciting next-gen horror games we have on the way — of which there are many — as it’s being developed by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s Tango Gameworks studio. It’s also being published by Bethesda, the house of Skyrim, who also happen to be involved in another mysterious next-gen horror game (potentially two) called Doom 4. So what would I like to see from the game that’s aiming to “bring horror back to its roots?” Let’s dig in.

‘The Evil Within’ Will Bring Horror Back, Says Mikami

There’s no shortage of exciting horror games coming out over the next year or so, with one of the more highly anticipated titles being the freshly unveiled The Evil Within. We know a good deal about it, even though it’s still a ways off. We know it’s the first game by Tango Gameworks, helmed by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami. We know it’s coming to current and next-gen consoles sometime next year, courtesy of Bethesda, and that it sounds terrifying. More after the break.

New ‘The Evil Within’ Screens Reveal Sebastian’s Partner

About a year before its official unveiling, I claimed Shadows of the Damned could “reinvent the horror genre.” Now, obviously it didn’t do that. I still fell in love with it, even if it never really found an audience. I’ll refrain from saying the same about Mikami’s next project, The Evil Within, but what I will say is that it could very well be an amazing action/survival horror game. Mikami knows the genre, so I have faith that he’ll be able to produce something we’ll all be able to enjoy.

I hope you’ve been enjoying this steady trickle of information about the game, because it isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. After the break I have a few more screenshots, which reveal Sebastian’s partner, Joseph Oda.

Bethesda May Have Another Horror Game In The Works

It hasn’t even been a week since the official unveiling of Mikami’s The Evil Within and it sounds like Bethesda may have another horror game in the works, but shhh, this one’s still a secret.

A new multi-platform title called Endless Summer was recently rated MA 15+ by the Australian Classification Board for “strong horror themes and violence.” I suppose there’s a chance it’s a code name for The Evil Within, though knowing what we do about the game, I’m having trouble believing that. What do you think this could be?

Here’s Nearly 40 High-Res Images From That Creepy ‘The Evil Within’ Teaser

Shinji Mikami, one of the minds behind Resident Evil and Dino Crisis, unveiled his next game last week, a “pure” survival horror game titled The Evil Within. The live action teaser was definitely one of the more unsettling debuts I’ve seen for a horror game, though that’s unsurprising seeing as it’s the work of the extremely talented Kyle Cooper, who has worked on American Horror Story, The Walking Dead and Se7en. I decided to go through the teaser and capture nearly 40 screenshots from it, which you can enjoy in all their deeply unnerving glory after the break.

More ‘The Evil Within’ Details Emerge Along With A Glimpse Of The Asylum

In their preview of Mikami’s The Evil Within, German news site PC Games unveiled an exclusive look at the asylum where at least the beginning of the game takes place. Between this and IGN’s reveal, it seems as if Bethesda only wants to drip-feed us information on this game via exclusive looks. That’s a pity.

Yeah, it’s a screenshot, but it’s something, and that’s better than nothing, right? I also have some clarifications and new info on the story details we reported on last week. More after the jump.

Some Very Exciting ‘The Evil Within’ Details Trickle Out!

If you’re only just getting here, Shinji Mikami’s mystery survival horror project Zwei was officially revealed as The Evil Within. We’ve seen a particularly unsettling trailer and a batch of awesome screens, but actual details are scarce. We know it’s a survival horror game with action horror elements, loads of puzzles, an emphasis on item conservation, and that it’s coming to the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and next-gen consoles. It might also be the last game Mikami directs.

Thanks to a few savvy people on NeoGaf, we now know more about this game. Details after the break.

These ‘The Evil Within’ Screenshots Sure Are Freaky

Earlier this morning, Bethesda officially announced The Evil Within with a creepy live-action trailer, sans any gameplay. I’m not a fan of trailers that show nothing of the game they’re advertising, because even if the trailer is amazing it doesn’t accurately represent the game.

Thankfully, we’ve also been given a batch of deeply unsettling screenshots that show off what the game will actually look like. After looking through them, The Evil Within looks strikingly similar to Resident Evil 4, which Mikami helmed back when he was with Capcom. The camera, combat, even a few of the enemies and locations. Check them out after the break!

Bethesda Scraps Plans For ‘Rage 2,’ Confirms ‘Doom 4′ Is Coming To Next-Gen Consoles

Id Software has been very quiet on the Doom front lately, and we now know why. Bethesda recently confirmed that development on Doom 4 completely started anew back in 2011, with id scrapping what they had because they weren’t happy with it. Constant delays are rarely good for a game, with games like Duke Nukem Forever, and more recently, Aliens: Colonial Marines getting panned by (most) critics and fans.

Bethesda’s Pete Hines provided some explanation as to why it happened, “An earlier version of Doom 4 did not exhibit the quality and excitement that id and Bethesda intend to deliver and that Doom fans worldwide expect,” Hines said. “As a result, id refocused its efforts on a new version of Doom 4 that promises to meet the very high expectations everyone has for this game and this franchise. When we’re ready to talk about the Doom 4 id is making, we will let folks know.”

Shinji Mikami’s ‘Zwei’ Is Still Coming, According To Bethesda VP Of Marketing

It’s rarely a good thing when a game is announced only to go completely silent for a year or longer. Zwei is on the verge of becoming one of those games, as it’s been mostly quiet since its reveal last April. Since then we’ve heard very little from Mikami and his Tango Gameworks studio, leading me to question if it’s still coming. As the creator of the Resident Evil franchise, Shinji Mikami still has quite a few horror fans — myself included — who are looking forward to seeing what he does next. If a recent tweet from Pete Hines, VP of PR and Marketing at Bethesda, is anything go by, the game isn’t in trouble yet.

After a fan questioned him on the game’s status, Hines replied saying [It's] Going very well. Everyone here who has seen it and played it is very excited about what Shinji and Tango are up to.” Hopefully we’ll get to see something from it soon.

‘Dishonored’ Sold Better Than Bethesda Expected, Could Become A Series

It looks like player reception of the recently released Dishonored has matched its critical reception. In my review I likened it to BioShock for its atmosphere, dystopian Steampunk setting, and even the combat, which feels similar to the uniquely satisfying plasmid/weapon combination. It looks like the two games could soon share something else in common — Dishonored could soon get a sequel that I’m not entirely sure it needs. Bethesda hasn’t disclosed exactly how many copies have sold so far, but it’s performed well enough to warrant the consideration of a sequel. Of course, BioShock 2 was a solid enough game, even if it didn’t quite have that feeling of newness its predecessor did. Either way, I’m sure a Dishonored 2 would be a great game. What do you think?

Doom 3 Is Getting Remastered In The BFG Edition, Coming This Fall

It’s difficult to believe Doom 3 came out eight years ago, but the fact that it’s already been long enough to warrant a remastered edition makes me feel old. It might not have been the revolutionary horror game many fans expected it to be, an expectation accumulated over the many, many years fans had to wait for it, but it was still an excellent action/horror game. Now Doom 3 is getting the remastered treatment with the BFG Edition, due this fall for the PS3 and Xbox 360. It will include some brand new levels, the Resurrection of Evil expansion, Doom 1 and 2, 3D support, 5.1 surround sound, and the ability to have a flashlight and a gun out at the same time. How sad is it that out of all those new features, the promise of a flashlight with all my guns is the one I’m most looking forward to? Head past the jump for the debut trailer! READ MORE

Quake Fans Prepare Yourselves, Quake 4 Is Coming To The 360

There isn’t much to say about this besides, YES! Quake 4 will be re-released in retail for 20 dollars. The game came out back in 2005, and on June 19th it can be yours once more on the 360. Since Bethesda bought id Software it looks like re-releasing old id games is on their list of things to do. Not a bad thing. Especially if these games offer online support. Does Quake 4? I have no idea, but one can dream.

[OMFG] Skyrim Goes Metal In The Modern Age

I’ve been hooked into Skyrim for the past several weeks. Something about slaying dragons and crafting Daedric armor (f*cking impossible to find daedra hearts) is just so badass in my mind. Hell, the Dead Pixels fellas loved it. Just check out their review.

But one thing the game didn’t have was some killer metal. And lord knows that metal makes any game better!!! So a couple of fellas decided to put together a video of what it would be like to be the ultimate metal Dovahkiin. Oh, and of course they used B.C. Rich guitars. After all, those things look like weapons no matter what the context.
