… But will they finish it? Netflix premiered “Hemlock Grove,” from producer Eli Roth (who also directed the pilot) on Friday. And, according to the network, it went over like gangbusters.

Netflix issued the following statement, “On April 19, we launched all 13 episodes of Hemlock Grove, a horror thriller from Eli Roth, and we’re very pleased with its early performance. Hemlock Grove was viewed by more members globally in its first weekend than was House of Cards and has been a particular hit among young adults.”

But word of mouth on the show has been extremely mixed and I’m curious how the second weekend numbers stack up. I supposed this is the dawn of a new age… when it’s not just episode to episode ratings (which it is, I’m wondering what the percentage of people who finished the show will be) but 2nd weekend drops.

Netflix premiered “Hemlock Grove,” from producer Eli Roth (who also directed the pilot) today. As is Netflix’s business model, all 13 episodes are now available. I imagine some of you are working your way through the show right now. I haven’t had time to watch it yet (I’m hoping to check out at least a few episodes later today) but I want to know what you think. Is it any good? Also, how do you feel about the entire series becoming available at once? Is this how you want to consume your television?

Premiering April 19 on Netflix is Eli Roth’s “Hemlock Grove“ – and much like the incredible “House of Cards,” Netflix will launch ALL 13 episodes on the same day!

The first official clip was released this evening and gets things going with a howl! Typically, clips are exposition heavy and shy away from any of the big surprises… not this one! Watch as one of the film’s main characters transforms into a werewolf. You can tell they were really trying to impress the horror crowd, although some of the digital work cheapens it. Still, the practical goodies are hard to ignore. I think it still deserves a slow clap? You tell us…

The trailer for the first season of the Eli Roth’s Hemlock Grove has it the web. It actually looks like it could be pretty good! I dig the tone, it’s almost like what would happen if “True Blood” actually had a sense of menace (with a little bit of “Twin Peaks” thrown in)!

The pilot was directed by Eli Roth and co-written by Brian McGreevy. Dougray Scott and Famke Janssen also star in this new television series that will premiere exclusively on Netflix.

“Revolves around the murder of a young girl found close to the former Godfrey steel mill. With a date still to be set, Netflix has unveiled the artwork for their original series “Hemlock Grove“, from Hotel and Cabin Fever director Eli Roth. The show, “Revolves around the murder of a young girl found close to the former Godfrey steel mill. The suspects in her killing include Peter (Landon Liboiron), a 17-year-old Gypsy kid from the wrong side of the tracks, and Roman (Skarsgard), the arrogant Godfrey Scion, whose sister Shelley is disturbingly deformed and whose mother, Olivia (Janssen), is the beautiful and controlling grand dame of Hemlock Grove.” Dougray Scott, Famke Janssen, Landon Liboiron and Bill Skarsgard all star.

TVLine adds that Ellen Greene (pictured), who played one of Chuck’s shut-in aunts on Bryan Fuller‘s “Pushing Daisies,” is reuniting with the show’s creator on his new gig “Hannibal.” Greene will take on the recurring role of Mrs. Komeda, a novelist and member of Boston’s cultural elite. She’s also a pal of the titular cannibal, Dr. Lecter (played by Casino Royale‘s Mads Mikkelsen) which should protect her from becoming his lunch. Landon Liboiron is going from a time traveling sci-fi drama to a horror series as the former “Terra Nova” co-star has been tapped to join Netflix’s original series “Hemlock Grove,” THR has learned exclusively.

From director/executive producer Eli Roth, the 13-episode horror series is “set in a ravaged Pennsylvania steel town and begins with the discovery of a young girl’s body. As the crime goes unsolved and outlandish rumors mount, Roman (Bill Skarsgard) and Peter decide to find the killer on their own, confronting unspeakable truths about themselves and Hemlock Grove as the mystery unfolds.”

Framke Janssen is set to play Olivia, the otherworldly beautiful and controlling grande dame of Hemlock Grove. The Peter role has not been cast.

Netflix will make the first season of Hemlock Grove instantly available in early 2013.

Based on the book of the same name by Brian McGreevy, he will write and executive produce the series alongside EPs Eric Newman (The Last Exorcism, Dawn of the Dead), Lee Shipman (Harker, Zorro Reborn), Michael Connolly (How to Train Your Dragon) and Mark Verheiden (“Battlestar Gallactica”). TV: Famke Janssen Moves Into Netflixs Hemlock Grove

Variety is reporting that the beautiful Famke Janssen (100 Feet, X-Men, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters) and Bill Skarsgard will both topline Eli Roth’s gothic mystery Netflix series, “Hemlock Grove,” which is to be both written and directed by the man behind Cabin Fever and Hostel.

Netflix’s latest foray into original programming is based on the novel by Brian McGreevy. The 13-episode skein will be available to Netflix subscribers in early 2013.

“‘Hemlock Grove’ centers around the murder of a young girl in a ravaged Pennsylvania steel town.”

Gaumont International Television is producing.

“What’s most exciting to me is creating the series for Netflix, which as a feature filmmaker is like telling a story in a new medium,” Roth said. “Netflix as a platform is the perfect hybrid of cinema, television and social networking, with the creative freedom to go as dark as the story needs.” READ MORE
