TV: “Revolution” And “Midnight Sun” Bulk Up Their Casts

“Revolution” continues to cast up. The hour-long thriller penned by “Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke and exec produced by J.J. Abrams (Super 8, Let Me In) and Bryan Burk. The project is described as a “high-octane action drama that follows a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist.

Last week we reported that Giancarlo Esposito had been cast, now Deadline has the update that Billy Burke (Mr. Swan In Twilight, New Moon etcetera…) has joined the cast. As previously reported, Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Cowboys And Aliens) has been tapped to direct the pilot.

Also continuing casting is Midnight Sun, who as added David Harbour (The Green Hornet) to their ensemble. He joins previously announced thesps Julia Stiles, Emma Bell and Titus Welliver. Blu-ray Review: ‘Drive Angry’

If one were to compare Drive Angry and My Bloody Valentine 3D, they’d be hard pressed to explain how the collaborative duo of writer Todd Farmer and director Patrick Lussier have grown as artists. In fact, I’m confident that I could copy and paste my review of the former and reuse it for the latter. There’s no depth or greater meaning to the Nic Cage vehicle; it’s just intended as a wild 3D ride filled with death and destruction – and Tom Atkins! What’s really incredible about it is that in a post-Grindhouse world, someone had the balls to try and make yet another modern day, big(ger)-budget love letter to exploitation films.

Patrick Lussier directs from the original screenplay he co-wrote with Todd Farmer who previously collaborated with him on My Bloody Valentine 3D.
