Now making theatrical rounds is Birdemic 2: The Resurrection, the James Nguyen-directed sequel to his legendary and infamous Birdemic that brings the luscious Whitney Moore back to the battle, alongside Alan Bagh, Chelsea Turnbo, Rick Camp, Brittany N. Pierce, Eric Swartz and Colton Osborne.
Bloody has an exclusive clip entitled “Bird-Splosion” that features an awful awesome climatic shoot out with the birds/eagles/vultures/whatever. But what makes this clip so epic is that it was shot on the backlots of Universal Studios California, specifically on the set of the Jaws ride! Does hilarity ensue? You tell us!
“A platoon of eagles and vultures attack Hollywood, California. Why did the eagles and vultures attack? Who will survive? Bill is a struggling filmmaker; Gloria is an aspiring actress. Rod, a Silicon Valley millionaire, finances Bill’s film, a dream come true until eagles and vultures attack Hollywood and it’s up to Rod, his girlfriend Nathalie, new friends and old to mount the resistance. Who will survive? Birdemic II, you asked for it.” READ MORE
Director James Nguyen talked with “This Week In” about Birdemic II: The Resurrection, his hotly anticipated sequel to Birdemic: Shock and Terror. He explains that this movie will be about a flock of eagles and vultures that attack Hollywood — who will survive?
He also talks about his new office on Sunset and La Brea in California, which he hints the origins of La Brea (Spanish for tar) and the tar pits play a pivotal role in the movie.
Alan Bagh confirms he will return as “Rod”. The plot circles around a character named Bill filming an independent film and trying to make it in Hollywood. James Nguyen also talks about how the movie is a romantic-thriller.
But the icing on the cake is the second video, where he talks about “mastering” 3-D…
Legend. Virtuoso. Prodigy. Master of his craft. No matter what title you choose to bestow upon director James Nguyen, the fact remains that he is the man responsible for one of the most unimaginable feats of moviemaking in the history of modern cinema: Birdemic: Shock and Terror. The cult movie sensation that defined a generation. Now, following a prestigious, sold-out run across North America and Europe, this extraordinary film is coming to DVD/Blu-ray via Severin Films, with extras including deleted scenes, interviews, featurettes, and audio commentary courtesy of Nguyen and stars Alan Bagh and Whitney Moore. In anticipation of the release, B-D was recently afforded the opportunity of chatting with Nguyen – unquestionably the “Master of the Romantic Thriller” – to discuss in great detail his breathtaking modern masterpiece of killer bird horror. See inside for the full interview.
Remember that ‘Birdemic’ trailer that had some heavy nu-metal/industrial music playing towards the second half? No? Well watch it at the link above to refresh your memory! Anyways, that song was penned by nu-metal band Chamber of Pudd and is entitled, you guessed it, ‘Birdemic (This Is)’. The video definitely has that ‘Birdemic’ quality about it, so if you’re into that kind of thing, this is right up your alley.
Here’s a quote from singer/songwriter King Pudd: ”The film really resonated with me. I had a girlfriend who was my world who passed away… she was dead to me anyway… the details are too painful to rehash in my warped mind but she had a bird. I took the bird after she died. Cared for it. But it was really fucking mean. And scared me. But I could relate with me locked in my cage of rage and that bird locked in a cage of cage in a fucking rage. We were mirror images in a fucked up world.”
Don’t forget to pre-order your copy of ‘Birdemic’, coming out on DVD and Blu-Ray on Feb. 22nd.
