Who honesty would’ve thought that a cartoon on Adult Swim would result in a real band doing real tours and releasing real albums? And yet that’s exactly what happened, resulting in Dethklok’s Dethalbum breaking records as the highest first-week album sales for a death metal act before Dethalbum II broke that record. As silly as that sounds, it’s reassuring for this metal fan to know that people can relate to metal, even if it’s in as ridiculous (read: awesome) a format as Metalocalypse.

And now the band returns with, you guessed it, Dethalbum III. Packed with 12 blistering tracks, does this album meet my expectations or fall short? Find out below. READ MORE

Adult Swim Announces ‘Metalocalypse: Dethklok Dethalbum III’ Details

Adult Swim has released details for the third album from Dethklok! Entitled Metalocalypse: Dethklok Dethalbum III, the album will be coming out Oct. 16th while a limited edition vinyl will be released Nov. 6th. There will be four versions of the album: regular release, digital release, clean release, and deluxe edition CD/DVD combo. The deluxe edition features a 32-minute documentary on the making of the album, as well as music videos and more.

The album is once again co-produced by show co-creator Brendon Small and Ulrich Wild. Artist Antonio Canobbio, who did the cover art for The Dethalbum and The Dethalbum II, once again provides cover art. Below you can see the cover art as well as the official track listing (the first song makes me think someone needs to see a doctor IMMEDIATELY).

Season 4 of Metalocalypse will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on Oct. 30th. READ MORE

Metal Injection caught up with Metalocalypse co-creator Brendon Small to discuss his upcoming solo album, Galaktikon, as well as what fans can expect from the upcoming season of Metalocalypse. Turns out that members of Soundgarden and 3 Inches of Blood will be lending their voices as well as actors Jon Hamm (Mad Men) and Werner Herzog (Aguirre, The Wrath of God, Nosferatu the Vampyre). Coinciding with season 4 of Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse, April will see the release of Dethklok creator Brendon Small’s Galaktikon. Described as “high stakes intergalactic extreme rock”, the album seems to be something that Dethklok fans can definitely get into but is also diverse enough to attract new crowds and listeners. 
Today, Crave Online got a stream of one of the tracks entitled On My Way. My only complaint is that the first thing I noticed was how boxed the audio file was. There were no dynamics to be found anywhere. The song kicks in and the volume never changes once. Am I right? Am I wrong? You can hear the song below and give me your thoughts.

Dethklok’s Brendon Small Presents Galaktikon

Brendon Small, the mastermind behind Dethklok, the band on Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse, has announced the upcoming release of his side project Galaktikon. The album will come out this April and coincides with the Season 4 premiere of Metalocalypse. 
“This album should be thought of as an audio comic book, an over acted chamber drama, a ridiculous premise that takes itself way too seriously all the way to the end,” states Brendon Small.

Brendon Small paired with Dethklok drummer (legendary metal drummer) Gene Hoglan (Strapping Young Lad, Testament, Fear Factory) and Dethklok bassist Bryan Beller (Steve Vai, Mike Keneally band) as well as Dethklok engineer and mixer Ulrich Wild.
