The Bride Revs Up For Some Family Dismemberment In Two Fresh ‘[REC]3 Genesis’ Clips!

The Bride Revs Up For Some Family Dismemberment In Two Fresh [REC]3 Genesis Clips!

To the dismay of Paco Plaza (who is a fabulous filmmaker), I wasn’t a huge fan of his solo-directed [REC]3 Genesis as he abandoned the found footage component of the franchise, while also injecting humor into an otherwise dead-pan serious trilogy (soon to be saga). Still, the Spanish-language film that opens in its home country next Friday, is pretty entertaining and has just enough blood and guts to warrant a viewing.

Getting fans in Spain hyped, Filmax has released another pair of clips from the blood-red wedding, one featuring the Bride (Leticia Dolera) as she rips the cord of her trusty chain saw and goes to work on an infected family member.

In other brief news, the quasi-prequel will be arriving in UK cinemas May 11, with a DVD/Blu-ray date unlisted for August. We can only assume Magnet will aim for a similar release plan theatrically, while Sony is completely unpredictable with home video (because they don’t give a sh*t about it; seriously). READ MORE

In other non-news, other sites are a bit behind on the news as we’ve been telling you for months that Magnet/Magnolia will release the sequel later this year on VOD and in limited theaters, while Sony Home Entertainment will then dump it to DVD.

Full Plot Details For Both [REC] Sequels, Genesis and Apocalypse!

Thanks to BD reader “RECFAN”, we’ve now landed the official plot crunch to Paco Plaza’s [REC]3: Genesis and Jaume Balagueró’s [REC]4: Apocalypse.

Leticia Dolera and Diego Martin star in Genesis, which is seeking a release later this year: In the film, the action now takes place miles away from the original location and partly in broad daylight giving the film an entirely fresh yet disturbing new reality. The infection has left the building. In a clever twist that draws together the plots of the first two movies this third part of the saga also works as a decoder to uncover information hidden in the first two films and leaves the door open for the final installment the future [REC]4 Apocalypse.

After the break we’ve posted the synopses for both films. READ MORE

The film, written by Luis Berdejo, stars Leticia Dolera and Diego Martin and take the infection to a wedding reception. Have your cake and eat it too (yeah, I went there). It looks like it’s going to be a red wedding (went there too). Two HD TV Spots for Warners ‘Contagion’

Hearing from various colleagues of mine that Warner Bros. Pictures and Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion most definitely dabbles in horror. Starring Matt Damon, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Laurence Fishburne, Josie Ho, Demetri Martin, Jennifer Ehle, Bryan Cranston and Elliott Gould, inside you’ll find the first two TV spots from the thriller infecting theaters September 9.

Montage of Madness in English-subbed ‘One Way Trip 3D’ Trailer

Bloody Disgusting has scored an exclusive look at the final English-subbed trailer for Markus Welter’s 3D horror slasher film One Way Trip, which focuses on a group of young people falling into the murderous clutches of a madman as they search for hallucinogenic mushrooms in Switzerland’s Jura Mountains. The best part about the new footage is that we finally see the group trippin’ balls, something promised in the title…

Described by the producers as “an intelligent slasher film with gothic elements and an unexpected ending,” the cast is headlined by Sabrina Reiter (star of both Dead in 3 Days films), Melanie Winiger, Herbert Leiser, and Martin Loos.

Eight young people drive to the Swiss Jura region, food and tents in the trunk. It’s autumn and high season for a magic mushroom that grows there – the reason for their trip. After a few problems they arrive at the desired location deep in the woods, the tents are set up, the mushrooms are collected and when it gets dark the party starts. Everything is fine until one of the youths wants to get beer and comes back with a blood-covered and smashed face. They don’t know what happened but need to find help. As they discover that their car has a flat tire and their phones don’t work, they seek shelter in a nearby farmhouse. But that’s just where they were supposed to go. In a nerve-racking countdown one after another gets killed by their dangerous haunters…

TV: You Want Zombie Deaths, ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 2 Has ‘Em!

One of the biggest complaints about the first season of AMC TV’s “The Walking Dead” was that there were only a handful of zombie deaths. It looks as if AMC and producer Frank Darabont have taken note…

Inside you’ll find the first official video clip from the second season that features star Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes losing his sh*t and smashing a zombie’s head in (he literally pummels it!)

The project is set among a group of zombie survivors of an apocalypse who are led by a police officer, Rick Grimes (Lincoln), in search of a safe place to live. In this latest season of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” TV series, the survivors arrive at Hershel’s Farm, where we will meet Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson), a vet (as in a veterinarian); his daughter, Maggie (Lauren Cohan); and Otis (Pruitt Taylor Vince), the middle-aged ranch foreman who’s such a sweetheart that he all but loses it when he accidentally shoots a fellow survivor. The new cast members join series regulars Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, Sarah Wayne Callies as Lori Grimes, Jon Bernthal as Shane Walsh, Laurie Holden as Andrea, Jeffrey DeMunn as Dale, Steven Yeun as Glenn, and Chandler Riggs as Carl Grimes.

The second season will consist of a 13-episode arc and will premiere this Fall on AMC.

Pictures’ Contagion, the Steven Soderbergh-directed thriller starring Matt Damon, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Laurence Fishburne, Josie Ho, Demetri Martin, Jennifer Ehle, Bryan Cranston and Elliott Gould.

Lesson learned: you’re filthy and touch your face way too much. This thriller looks pretty freaky and really ups the ante from viral thrillers from the past 20 years.

The pic follows the rapid progress of a lethal airborne virus that kills within days. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart.

It infects theaters September 9.
