Hold The Phone, Buffy Star To Write Drusilla Comic!

Buffy saw a lot of characters come and go over the years, but perhaps the only non-central character to become a fan favorite was Drusila. She was a complete nutjob, throughout her 17-episode run, and it was only a matter of time before we saw her again. But the big surprise is that the actress herself, Juliet Landau, is writing the comic mini-series!

We recently saw Joshua Jackson jump from actor to comic writer with DC’s new Fringe series, so perhaps this is a sign of things to come. Drusilla is set for a five-issue run, picking up right where she left off in the show. You can expect the first issue to drop in June. Read on for the skinny

‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Remake Script Rejected Completely

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Remake Script Rejected Completely

That big-screen revamp of Buffy the Vampire Slayer has been dealt a setback — it looks as though the movie’s first-time screenwriter bit off more than she could chew, reports the LA Times.

Two sources close to the project tell the magazine that the script submitted this past summer by writer Whit Anderson fell far short of expectations and, in the end, was rejected completely.

A new writer is being sought but the entire endeavor may have lost some steam.

Back in November franchise creator Joss Whedon said of the project, “This is a sad, sad reflection on our times, when people must feed off the carcasses of beloved stories from their youths — just because they can’t think of an original idea of their own, like I did with my Avengers idea that I made up myself.” I guess that goes for the television series too? Anthony Stewart Head Thinks ‘Buffy’ Remake “A Horrible Idea”

It’s not just the film/show’s original writer/creator that’s speaking out, now one of the original “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” cast speaks out. Anthony Stewart Head, who played Buffy’s watcher Giles, had this to say about Warner Bros. Pictures forthcoming feature film: “It’s a horrible idea,” Head told the Huffington Post. “It’s a horrible idea in as much as Buffy was a great conceit. It was a great story. … I don’t feel that you can then remake that without the original creator on board. It doesn’t make sense. And I mean, somewhere down the line, I suppose sometimes … I suppose you could, but it never sits very comfortably. With someone like Joss, why would you want to? Well, I know why you want to. You want to make money. As he said recently, ‘I hope it’s good!’ [laughs] I love him.” The answer is: it happens all the time. In fact, the last reports claimed that Joss Wedon has turned down the opportunity to work on the project.

They All Lie, and Here’s Proof: Heather Morris IS Being Considered for ‘Buffy’

Back on December 12 the Hollywood Reporter was quick to publish a story debunking the possibilities of “Glee” star Heather Morris taking the reigns as the new Buffy the Vampire Slayer, adding Tweets by writer Whit Anderson and declaring a statement by Warners that “casting is not being discussed until the script is completed.” All lies! This has become typical protocol here in Hollywood, where we break a confirmed story only to look like complete assholes by the studios, writers, producers or stars. The fact of the matter is Morris is in fact in talks for the lead role: “They’re considering me! I found out and I almost peed my pants ’cause I was so excited!” she told Access Hollywood. Interesting stuff, considering how hard the studio and writer tried to convince us otherwise. Hopefully she’s not a moron and just responding to the Web gossip…

Debunked: ‘Glee’ Star Won’t Become ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’

While other horror sites continue to report this as fact, the Hollywood Reporter debunked the following news this past Friday. Warner Bros. insiders denied rumors that Heather Morris, “Glee”‘s ditzy cheerleader Brittany, is under consideration to play Buffy Summers in the studio’s big-screen reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Screenwriter Whit Anderson, via Twitter, also denied any casting rumors. “Careful what you retweet, loves. Inaccuracy can cause lots of unnecessary stress,” she wrote. When asked directly about the Morris casting rumor, first reported by sci-fi blog Blastr.com, Anderson replied: “We’re not even *thinking* about casting yet. The script isn’t even written!” she said in a tweet that was later deleted. Warners also told The Hollywood Reporter that casting is not being discussed until the script is completed.
