With C2E2 2011 ending, we had to get in one final interview for all of our readers before we could feel right about leaving the convention. That interview, of course, was with the always awesome Tim Seeley and Daniel Leister, otherwise known as the dynamic duo that bring you Image’s “HACK/SLASH”! The guys (who are always happy to update the hordes of Graphic Content faithful) sat down with myself and Johnny_Trouble to talk about ALL of their many projects, including “HACK/SLASH”, “WILD GAMES”, their work with Halo-8, and so much more. Inside you can check out the interview and get ALL the exclusive content, as brought to you the way only we can. Read on for the skinny!
As we made the mad dash to end our coverage of the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, we were fortunate enough to sit down and talk briefly with Ben Templesmith (“30 DAYS OF NIGHT”, “WORMWOOD”, “CHOKER”) at his booth on the convention floor about putting the finishing touches on “CHOKER”, contributing artwork to “BLEEDOUT” for Archaia, the future of “WORMWOOD”, and more. Inside you can check out the interview and get all the details straight from the man himself. Read on for the skinny!
It is often times hard to take a glutted genre in a new direction, especially when it comes to the werewolf sub-genre. Though not as over populated as the zombie or vampire genres, the monster-by-moonlight spin is one that could desperately use some new life. Enter Christopher Mangun, co-creator of Archaia’s “FEEDING GROUND”. Chris was kind enough to sit down and talk about the series with us over the weekend, and inside you can check out the interview in its entirety. Read on for the skinny!
As publisher Archaia continues to push the envelope and bring comic book fans everywhere some of the newest and most original voices in the genres of horror and sci-fi, they also seem to be bringing readers some of the most promising stories as well. Case in point – Mike Kennedy, creator and author of the upcoming hardcover graphic novel, “BLEEDOUT”. The collaborative effort matches Mike up with some of the genres best and brightest illustrators, such as Howard Chaykin, Ben Templesmith, and Glenn Fabry, just to name a few. Mike was kind enough to take the time to sit down and chat with myself and Johnny_Trouble over the weekend at C2E2, and inside you can see the interview in its entirety. Read on for the skinny!
In this line of work there are many times when you are lucky enough to sit down and interview with someone who is such a treat to talk to that it leaves you walking away with one of those smiles on your face that lasts the rest of the day. One such interview was definitely Vertigo/DC scribe for “AMERICAN VAMPIRE”, Scott Snyder. The author sat down with me on Day 3 of the convention to talk about his ubber successful series, and even gave all of us here at Graphic Content a very appreciated shout-out. Below you can check out the interview, and we would all love to thank Scott sincerely for being such a great sport and taking the time to bring you (and us) some awesome new details on the past, present, and future of “AMERICAN VAMPIRE”.
Myself and Johnny_Trouble were fortunate enough to meet some great new faces at the 2011 C2E2 convention over the weekend on our excursion to Chicago with photo journalist JerryBaker, one of which being Dark Horse Comics Publicity Manager and all around nice guy, Aub Driver. Aub was good enough to sit down and chat with us about everything that the company will be bringing readers in 2011, from “HELLBOY”, to “DOLLHOUSE”, and everything in between. Below you can check out the interview and catch yourself up on what looks to be an exciting year in comics for the publisher, and a very special thanks to Aub for taking the time to sit down and talk with us.
As with most great things in life, the past couple of days seem like a blur. After taking countless pictures (all of which will be available soon), meeting as many cosplayers, fans, and friends (new and old), myself, Johnny_Trouble, and JerryBaker are finally nearing the end of our stay in the Windy City. However, we aren’t out of the woods yet, because we still have another action packed day ahead of us. Below you can check out our intro to the rainy, cold day that is C2E2: Day 3.
xfAdmittedly, when I first heard of the precariously titled ‘BOY WONDER’, I was skeptical on many fronts. The first being that I didn’t foresee a film by such a ‘Batmanesque’ title as ‘BOY WONDER’ to be a dark, twisted, pulse pounding vigalante film with plenty of violence to go around. However, after getting a chance to see the film this past week I have to say that I joined the ranks of the many critics who have handed the Indie such high praise. The film, directed by Michael Morrissey, premiered today at The Con, and inside you can get our exclusive interview with Michael as well as stars Caleb Steinmeyer (‘LOST’), and Zulay Henao (‘FEAR ITSELF’, ‘S.DARKO’)! It is always a nice change of pace when you get to discover new stories as well as old favorites. Take for instance Andrew Gaska’s ‘CRITICAL MILLENNIUM’. At the time that we were approached for the interview with the Archaia produced series, neither myself nor collegue Johnny_Trouble had heard of the Sci-Fi series before, much less read it. However, after reading all three books the night before, we both went into The Con this morning genuinely excited to sit down and chat with Drew, and we were not disappointed. Inside you can check out the full video interview with the scribe. Read on for the skinny!
After getting some much needed rest after the whirlwind that was day one, the fearless (except for men dressed as Emma Frost and Chicago streets after 2AM) Bloody-Disgusting.com Graphic Content crew hit the streets of the Windy City to head to the second day of C2E2. The crowds are predictably larger than that of Friday’s turn out, and if today is any type of barometer for what we can expect later on in the day, we are going to be in for a LOT of fun. Below you can check out our ‘pre-game show’ show of sorts where we get you (or make a valiant attempt) pumped for the insanity of Day 2…
One of the most prominent publishers at this year’s C2E2 Convention is without a doubt Archaia Publishing. The publisher, who has a massive set up right at the front of the showroom floor, was gracious enough to allow us to sit down with the delightful Chandra Free, writer/illustrator of their hit series “THE GOD MACHINE”. Inside you can see our entire sit down interview with Chandra as she talks about the trials of getting published, brevity in creativity, and how pressing forward and not giving up can sometimes payoff.
After a long 5 and a half hour drive, copious amounts of energy drinks, cigarettes, and random iPod playlists, the crew of Bloody-Disgusting.com’s Graphic Content made it to the showroom floor of the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo – C2E2! Thus far the convention has been a huge success, pulling in hundreds upon hundreds of passionate fans, talented artists/writers, and some of the industrie’s heaviest hitters. Below you can get a special look at myself, and interview contributor Johnny_Trouble live from the showroom floor just minutes before it was opened to the public, and inside you can get a look at some of the best (and worst) of day one so far. Read on for the skinny!
