It’s Decided, ‘Resident Evil: Revelations’ Has The Best Unlockable Costumes

Capcom really hat outdone themselves with the unlockable costumes in Resident Evil: Revelations. Jill and Keith look deliciously cheesy, but Chris’s costume is particularly unforgettable. I really hope Capcom releases a batch of Chris pin-up posters, because this is just too good.

I’d say more, but I’d rather you checked them out for yourself. I wouldn’t want to say too much.

‘Resident Evil: Revelations’ On Wii U Isn’t Just An HD Port

Capcom is bringing Resident Evil: Revelations to every serious gaming platform later this month, but the console Capcom looks to be pushing the hardest is the Wii U. Where the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Revelations bring with them a few new features and remastered visuals, the Wii U version offers all that and a couple exclusive features that make full use of the console’s unique controller and Miiverse, all of which you can see in the trailer I have waiting for you beyond the break.

The 5 Best ‘Resident Evil’ Games!

With Revelations coming to nearly every console on the planet in just three short weeks (May 21), I’ve been thinking — what are the best Resident Evil games? I wanted to rank the entire series, but then I remembered there are significantly more games in Capcom’s legendary horror franchise then there are in Silent Hill. I’ll also freely admit I haven’t played every game released to-date, nor do I have the time (or the will) to go through the few I missed to see where they place.

So, out of sheer laziness, I decided to choose the five best games and rank them from “worst” to best. Check out my list after the break, and feel free to disagree and offer your own in the comments! READ MORE

Capcom Cancels Multiple Games, Shifts Focus To In-House Development

Lately, Capcom has been outsourcing the development of many of their games to third parties. Slant Six did Operation Raccoon City, Ninja Theory had DmC: Devil May Cry, Lost Planet 3 is coming from Spark Unlimited, etc. Unfortunately, Capcom isn’t very happy with how these games have been performing. The company confirmed a “special loss” of ¥7.2 bn ($73.3 MM) after cancelling multiple titles that were in development at third party studios. They’re blaming the significant loss on “excessive outsourcing” of low quality games, slow digital expansion, and poor marketing.

Devil May Cry and Resident Evil 6 fell way short of expectations; DmC sold 1.1 million units of Capcom’s 2 million target, and RE6 performed even worse (relative to expectations), after selling over 2 million less copies than what they expected. Ouch.

There’s Some Hope Left For ‘Resident Evil 1-3′ On PC

Capcom may be working on bringing the original Resident Evil trilogy to PC, though it may be down the road a ways. On the company’s Unity forum, Capcom USA senior VP Christian Svensson said “We have been trying to get [Capcom Japan] to let us update [Resident Evil 1-3] to run on Win 7/8 and then get them out on more digital marketplaces for PC, but dicussions [sic] have been ongoing for more than a year and we’ve not made progress.” So there’s definite plans to bring them to PC, even if it may not happen for some time.

It’s been a while since I last played Resident Evil 3 — I don’t even own it anymore — so I’d very much like to re-experience that game again. What about you, which Resident Evil would you most like to see on PC?

‘Resident Evil: Revelations’ Is Now Available On The Nintendo eShop

If you’re finding it difficult to wait for Resident Evil: Revelations to make its way to the PS3, PC, Xbox 360 and Wii U in May, now you can grab it digitally through the Nintendo eShop. No longer is Revelations constrained to retail, like a Pikachu given a Thunderstone, it has evolved.

If you’d rather see more from the upcoming HD port, I recommend watching some of the gameplay Capcom’s been drip-feeding us over the last few months. I have a new story trailer, or if you’re feeling frisky you can watch the over-sexualized Rachel do her thing.

New ‘Resident Evil: Revelations’ Gameplay Centers On Rachel

In the upcoming HD port of Resident Evil: Revelations, Capcom is making Rachel playable. After watching her kick kick a literal boat-load of slimy monster ass, I can see she’s more than capable of handling herself. What I’m not so sure of is how practical that outfit of hers is. Is her plan to distract the monsters with her cleavage long enough to line up a shot? See Rachel in action after the jump.

No New Content Planned For ‘Resident Evil: Revelations’ On 3DS

In a thread on the Capcom Unity forum, a fan asked if there were any plans to make Rachel playable in the 3DS version of Resident Evil: Revelations, as is the case for the upcoming console and PC port. Capcom’s Corporate Officer/Senior Vice-President Christian Svensson squashed any hopes 3DS owners might still have for DLC, saying “Sorry guys, but there are no planned updates for the 3DS version of Revelations. We’ve added a fair amount of new content to the new edition which is fairly common to do.”

If you want the port’s exclusive goodies, it looks like you’ll have to re-purchase Revelations when it comes to the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U on May 21st.

Watch Coach Bring The Bazooka Pain In This ‘Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2′ Crossover Trailer

Today, Resident Evil 6 comes to the PC, and it’s bringing with it some exclusive content. This includes an exciting — and free — Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2 crossover that infuses the PC version of RE6 with the cast and a couple of the enemies from L4D2. Coach, Nick, Ellis and Rochelle will be playable in the Mercenaries No Mercy mode, where the Witch and Mini Tank will appear as enemies.

The crossover begins on April 5, but you can purchase Resident Evil 6 right now on PC for #29.99 (€29.99/£19.99). See the crossover in action after the break, along with a fresh batch of screenshots from the Onslaught mode.

A Trailer To Fill You In On What’s Happening In ‘Resident Evil: Revelations’

Capcom is bringing Resident Evil: Revelations — easily the strongest of the four RE games released last year — to PC and consoles next month. ‘Resident Evil: Revelations’ Will Introduce New Enemies, Playable Rachel, Wii U Off-Screen Play

Capcom is doing a fine job making Resident Evil: Revelations for consoles enticing even if you already own it for the Nintendo 3DS. The upcoming high definition port will bring with it two new monsters, a playable Rachel in the cooperative Raid Mode, and Wii U-specific features. Only one of the two new monsters that are coming to the console and PC versions has been announced, and it’s called the Wall Blister. Yuck. If you’re planning on getting it on the Wii U, it will come with off-screen play, which means you can play it in another room while someone else uses the TV, and it will also make use of the console’s social network. See all that and more in the pretty substantial batch of new screenshots I have waiting for you after the jump.

In related news, Hunk and Rachel will both be playable at PAX East this weekend, alongside upcoming survival horror games Daylight and Outlast.

If You Don’t Own ‘Resident Evil 6′ Yet, The PC Version Is The One To Get

If you’re still on the fence about Resident Evil 6 or just waiting for its price to drop, Capcom is doing a fine job of making the upcoming PC version the one to get. If you pre-order the game on Steam before its March 22 release you will receive the DLC Season Pass, a digital artbook and soundtrack and Resident Evil 5 for free. If PC gaming isn’t your thing there’s the upcoming PS3 and Xbox 360 exclusive Siege Mode that’s basically Mercenaries with a lot more enemies thrown at you at once. Otherwise you can pre-purchase your PC copy for $39.99 on Steam right now.

Cool Off With ‘Lost Planet 3′ On June 25

Between the sun and its emphasis on “outside activities,” summer isn’t one of my favorite seasons. I prefer to be indoors, with something between me and that massive ball of fire and death that looms ominously in the sky above us. It’s a good thing Capcom has gamers like me in mind. Earlier today Capcom confirmed Lost Planet 3 will come to the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 on June 25 in North America and in Europe on June 28. The J’avo From ‘Resident Evil 6′ Has A Face Only A Mother Could Love

Some of the enemies in Resident Evil 6 may have bordered on comical — I’m looking at you, man with the giant chicken legs — but there were a few that were genuinely freaky. The basic enemy you come across in RE6 is the J’avo, a mutated, mostly-human creature that has freaky spider eyes and a fondness for sprouting fucking chicken legs. They’re ugly and I was always happy to put them down. Cosplayer Toten2 has taken the J’avo’s… unique face and brought it into the real world. The results are a little gross. Check him out after the jump!

Let’s Get To Know ‘Resident Evil’s’ Leading Lady With A Jill Valentine Retrospective

If you’re not as familiar with Ms. Valentine as you’d like to be and you have around ten minutes to get to know her a little better, this is definitely worth watching. Even if you’re crazy familiar with her and the Resident Evil games, it’s still interesting to see her character change over the years, from STARS officer to the badass, skin-tight suit wearing superhero Jill we know and love/hate today.

This ‘Resident Evil 0′ Cosplay Makes Me Nostalgic For The Old Days

Fans of the classic Resident Evil games have been clamoring for Capcom to return the series to its roots in survival horror since forever, it seems. More often than not, when you ask an RE fan what their favorite entry in the series is you’re likely to hear them say either RE1, RE2, or RE4. Unfortunately, Resident Evil 0 often gets overlooked, despite being an awesome game. ‘Resident Evil: Revelations’ Will Make Full, And Entirely Optional, Use Of The Wii U’s GamePad

The GamePad is arguably the most exciting thing about the Wii U, and like most new technologies, it’ll likely take some time to reach its potential. It’s understandable that many developers are still trying find uses for it that actually gives us a reason to purchase the Wii U version of a multi-platform game. ZombiU used it in an interesting way by forcing you to look away the screen during potentially dangerous situations for inventory management and things like that. Resident Evil: Revelations will use it in the same way, but this time it’s optional. Capcom is giving us multiple ways to play, so if you want to use the GamePad you can do that, or you can use a Wii U Pro controller. What platform will you be purchasing Revelations on?

HUNK And Jill Surface In This Brand New ‘Resident Evil: Revelations’ Footage

Capcom will soon be bringing the previously Nintendo 3DS exclusive Resident Evil: Revelations to pretty much every other console available right now, including the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U. Here’s Some New Footage From The PC Version Of ‘Resident Evil 6′ Coming Next Month

The latest and most polarizing entry in Capcom’s action horror franchise has been available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 since October, but PC fans still won’t get it until next month. In an effort to drum up interest in the upcoming PC version, Capcom has released some new gameplay footage from it that will look awfully familiar to anyone who’s played the game already, with a few exceptions. Capcom’s Working On Figuring Out Why ‘Resident Evil 6′ Fell Short Of Expectations

So far, five million copies of Resident Evil 6 have sold worldwide, and for most games such an impressive number would be a huge success. The high development costs and even higher hopes Capcom had for the title, that isn’t the case, as it comes about two million short of their expectations. So what went wrong? Why, poor marketing, of course.
