Set in a future in which malevolent creatures threaten the earth, the planet must band together and use highly advanced technology to eradicate the growing menace.
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
Here’s yet another gigantic banner for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, this time depicting a battle between a Jaeger and monster.

I love this behind the scenes glimpse (via IGN) at Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim because it shares and explores one of the movies most interesting concepts. If you’re a Jaeger pilot, your co-pilot has to know everything about you. Literally. I think this is the key to lending the film some immense human relationship stakes without having to break away from the action too much, the film combines the two.

We live in a time of monsters, teases this new promo image from Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim. The still also shares a look at one of the film’s monsters, which really gives perspective as to how large they are.

This is what I’m talking about. Warner Bros. have just released what they’re calling the “main trailer” for Pacific Rim and it’s f*cking monstrous! This – even more than the awesome Wondercon Trailer – has my dying to see the film. I love the color, I love the imagery and I love those damn Kaiju.

Warner Bros. have just released a new Pacific Rim image via Twitter that puts an enormous Kaiju skull on display in what looks like a museum! The tagline reads, “What once evoked fear now inspires awe.”
Also check out some new evidence of the first Kaiju attack on August 11th, 2013; the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco appears to have taken some serious damage.

Warner Bros. has just released the most epic theatrical banner of all time, using a series of monsters and robots from Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim to complete the spread. It’s so large you could wrap it around the entire planet (not true).

Hot d*mn. Warner Bros. is really going for it this week in regards to pimping the Guillermo del Toro-directed Pacific Rim, and I can’t blame them. Massive movie. This poster, described as the “main” one, is more of the same but still pretty cool regardless.

Warner Bros. has decided to kick the PR into high gear for the Guillermo del Toro-directed Pacific Rim.
After blowing our minds with the Con trailer premiere, we now have a tremendous banner that sizes up the enormity of the battle ensuing on July 12. I’m a huge fan of Robot Jox and think this looks like the next best thing since 1987!

Warner Bros. Pictures finally released the Wondercon trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim yesterday and it 100% reinvigorated me. I was starting to worry that this was just going to be another, almost boring, “summer blockbuster” when this new footage came along and convinced me that it would be anything but. I also learned (and re-learned) a few things about the film that effectively killed all the second guessing I’d been doing, so I figured I’d jot them down.

Remember when Warner Bros. Pictures debuted footage from Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim at the WonderCon in Anaheim, CA? The movie news community got wet and exploded into a Twitter orgasm that both excited me, but also left me apprehensive. These days everything is overblown, which makes it incredible difficult to know what’s actually mind-blowing.
This morning Warners released the Con footage, which is basically an elongated trailer bursting with awesome. It’s like the 1989 Robot Jox mixed with Cloverfield, Godzilla and Jurassic Park, only injected with steroids. What you’ll see doesn’t have that “generic” Transformers look, where robots get hit and fall all over a city. Instead, Pacific Rim flexes its muscles with unique set pieces, stunning settings, and even a shockingly smart premise: the humans are getting their asses kicked Die Hard style!
Pacific Rim, in theaters July 12, is clearly going to be del Toro’s coup de grâce. READ MORE
Warners has released a new official one sheet for Guillermo del Toro’s (apparently awesome) Pacific Rim. This one teases the size of one of the giant Jaegers as it strides down a destroyed city block. Also, I’m thankful this isn’t another viral image.

…And that’s because of the Kaiju. The rush of excitement I had at the beginning of this spot, at a shot of the Kaiju that I’d already seen, reminds me that while I may not be salivating over the robot stuff in Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, I’m definitely stoked for the giant monsters.

Why? Because it tells me something about the explosive dangers of piloting a Jaeger. It combines what they’ve been doing the past few days with some actual information that makes me curious about the film’s robots. Warners is rightfully doing everything they can to sell Guillermo del Toro’s (apparently awesome) Pacific Rim, and this is no exception. I’d expect to see a lot more of this stuff in the next few months.

Warners has released even more “viral” marketing for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, this time warning of Kaiju in Japanese. Still want to see the movie, still unmoved by the campaign. I can’t wait for the Wondercon footage.

Warners has released some “viral” marketing for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, and I’m not sure how excited it’s supposed to get me. Don’t get me wrong – I’m DYING to see the movie, especially after hearing the Wondercon footage described. It’s just that images like these don’t make a dent in terms of my anticipation (nor do they make me want to see it less, on the otherhand). It’s just… neutral.

I’ve been becoming more and more skeptical of Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim as Warner Bros. has been releasing poster after poster of the film’s Jaeger robots. To me, I started to think it was going to be just another Transformers movie. Apparently, it’s not. Apparently, it’s off-the-wall amaze balls. Here are a few tweets out of the WonderCon panel where del Toro showed off some new footage from the flick set in a future in which malevolent creatures threaten the earth, and the planet must band together and use highly advanced technology to eradicate the growing menace.
Erin Maxwell of Variety writes, “Pacific Rim is everything I ever wanted from every movie ever made. Thank you. #wondercon2013”
Melissa Molina stated: “#PacificRim footage was f–king amaaaazing. I need to see this movie NOW #wondercon”
Devin Faraci of Bassass Digest uses all caps to express his excitement: “A JAEGER HITS A KAIJU IN THE FACE WITH A CARGO SHIP IN THE PACIFIC RIM WONDERCON TRAILER.”
Chris Eaton adds: “#pacificrim is no Cloverfield the 2 minutes shown @WonderCon blew that film out the water”
Warner Bros Pictures added a little bit of juice, “Guillermo del Toro says each time he sees #PacificRim, he still has a “sh*t-eating grin” on his face, and it’s “absolute heaven.” #WonderCon”
Hopefully the new footage hits the Web tomorrow. Until then, we’ll wait patiently for July 12 when the world wages war against giant monsters! READ MORE
