Beware Of Isopods In This Exclusive Clip From ‘The Bay’!

Roadside Attractions has shared with us a new and exclusive clip from Barry Levinson’s eco-horror The Bay. The found-footage horror was originally to be released via Lionsgate, but will now hit theaters November 2 from Roadside.

The clip involves some nasty tongue-eating isopods, which are actually real! They eat a creature’s (fish, whales even) tongue and sit there in place of it absorbing all of the incoming food. More on that here!

Starring Will Rogers, Steven Kunken, Kether Donohue, Frank Deal, Christopher Denham and Kristin Connelly, “Two million fish washed ashore. One thousand blackbirds dropped from the sky. On July 4, 2009 a deadly menace swept through the quaint seaside town of Claridge, Maryland, but the harrowing story of what happened that Independence Day has never been told–until now. From Oscar(R)-winning director Barry Levinson and the producers of Paranormal Activity and Insidious comes this nerve-shredding tale of a small town plunged into absolute terror. The authorities believed they had buried the truth about the tragedy that claimed over 700 human lives. Now, three years later, a reporter has emerged with footage revealing the cover-up and an unimaginable killer: a mysterious parasitic outbreak. Told from the perspective of those who were there and saw what happened, The Bay unfolds over 24 hours though people’s iPhones, Androids, 911 calls, webcams, and whatever else could be used to document the nightmare in Claridge.

New ‘Excision’ Clip Coughs Up Blood In “Dream Sequence”

Richard Bates, Jr.’s Excision hits Blu-ray and DVD October 16th. The film features “Nip/Tuck”‘s AnnaLynne McCord as a delusional high school student with aspirations of a career in medicine and who goes to extremes to earn the approval of her controlling mother. Now we have a new clip from the film called “Dream Sequence”, which doesn’t have much to do with that. But it does have people coughing up blood!

Life sucks when you’re seventeen. Alienated teen Pauline (AnnaLynne McCord) struggles with the pressures of fitting into high school, pleasing her parents and a burning desire to lose her virginity. With a grotesque curiosity for the darker side of life, Pauline is considered a social outcast by everyone around her. Enticed by flesh, she retreats into her own fantasies and hopes to become a great surgeon…that is if she doesn’t go mentally insane first.

Bonus features on the Excision Blu-ray and DVD include an audio commentary, a behind-the-scenes featurette and collectable O-card packaging (for the DVD). Head inside for the clip and the box art! READ MORE

Watch People Scream During ‘Paranormal Activity 4′!

Paramount Pictures has released their (now annual) “audience reaction” clip for Paranormal Activity 4. It looks like a lot of the stuff you’re seeing in the clips is actually in the movie this time, for those people who were disappointed with the perceived bait and switch that PA3 pulled.

This fourth film from creator/producer Oren Peli utilizes modern technology as it follows a family that lives across the street from a group of witches. In theaters October 19, Catfish duo Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, who helmed the third film, direct once again.

[TV News Bites] New Clips From “Dexter” And “The Walking Dead”, New Posters For “The Following”!

Earlier this morning we brought you a preview of next week’s “Dexter” (Episode 7.03), entitled “Buck The System.” But that wasn’t enough! Now we’ve got our first look at Yvonne Strahovski as Hannah McKay in an additonal clip from that episode.

Next up is a clip from the first episode of Season 3 of AMC’s The Walking Dead which kicks off October 14. This one features our gang trying to figure out some sh*t on a map. Not one of the show’s most compelling moments, but you know you like it all.

Last but not least (ok, kind of least since we haven’t seen the show yet – fingers crossed) are some cool new character posters (via EW) from “The Following”, the new Kevin Williamson created, Kevin Bacon starring, serial killer show from Fox. It starts airing this January.

[TV] Next On “Dexter”: Episode 7.03 “Buck The System”

“Dexter” returned to Showtime two weeks ago for its highly anticipated Season 7 premiere. I was sort of impressed that they didn’t dodge the question at hand and that they dove straight into the process of looping Deb into Dexter’s “Dark Passenger”. While I haven’t seen last night’s episode yet, the Season 7 premiere – while not great – was a step up from the awful Season 6. Maybe this show can get its groove back?

If you’ve already seen last night’s episode, head inside for a preview of next week/s Episode 7.03, entitled “Buck The System.” In it “Dexter tries to bring Debra on board with his new target.READ MORE

[TV] Next On “Dexter”: Clip and Behind-the-Scenes Look At Season Premiere!

Just last night “Dexter” returned to Showtime in this highly anticipated Season 7 premiere that picks up immediately after the shocking Season 6 finale. In the episode “Are You?,” “Deb tries to cover up involvement in Travis’ murder; Detective Mike Anderson has an unfortunate run-in; Quinn and Batista make amends; LaGuerta rethinks the Bay Harbor Butcher case.” This morning Showtime has uploaded a seemingly important clip from the episode, along with a look behind-the-scenes. Also, take a break from work and check out the entire premiere here, for free, right now!

At the above link we’ve also scored a preview of next week’s episode, 07.02 “Sunshine and Frosty Swirl”: “When a local convict claims he has new information regarding a 15-year-old crime spree, Miami Metro sets out to unearth new evidence on the case. Debra attempts to cure Dexter of his killer tendencies. Meanwhile, the Mike Anderson case leads to the Ukrainian mob and a vengeful Louis won’t stop meddling with Dexter’s life.

A last piece of news for the fanatics: Website Vulture has an exclusive 1:1 interview with Jennifer Carpente who plays Deborah Morgan, about the big reveal that sets off the Season 7 explosion. Be warned that there are some pretty heavy spoilers. READ MORE

Two New Clips From ‘Frankenweenie’ Prove That “Edgar Knows” About A “Bigger Problem”

In Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie, a young Victor conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended, sometimes monstrous, consequences. In theaters October 5, 2012 from Walt Disney Pictures, we’ve got two new clips. One from IGN entitled “A Bigger Problem” that opens up the scope of the action as well as another new one entitled “Edgar Knows” in which Victor’s hunchbacked friend calls him out.

The voice cast includes four actors who worked with Burton on previous films: Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands), Catherine O’Hara (Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas), Martin Short (Mars Attacks!) and Martin Landau (Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow), while Charlie Tahan and Atticus Shaffer were later added. Over 200 puppets and sets were created for the film, and that several of the character names—Victor, Elsa Van Helsing, Edgar “E” Gore and Mr. Burgermeister— were inspired by classic horror films.

A heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.

A stop-motion animated film, ‘Frankenweenie’ will be filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D, which will elevate the classic style to a whole new experience.READ MORE

Walt Disney Pictures has released the first clip from Frankenweenie, Tim Burton’s latest animated feature in which a young Victor conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended, sometimes monstrous, consequences.

The clip looks amazing and the stop motion is gorgeous but the jury’s still out on Burton’s main weakness as of late – storytelling. Here’s hoping!

The voice cast includes four actors who worked with Burton on previous films: Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands), Catherine O’Hara (Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas), Martin Short (Mars Attacks!) and Martin Landau (Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow), while Charlie Tahan and Atticus Shaffer were later added.

New ‘Prometheus’ Viral Video And HD Download Release Date

Twentieth Century Fox’s Prometheus, Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel, hits Blu-ray next month. Earlier we were teased with this massive list of extra features that were approved for the UK release – and I still believe we’re waiting on US specs.

So what is this viral video then? It reminds me of the character pieces that were released leading up to the film’s theatrical release, so maybe this is some kind of Blu-ray hint? Does it key into any of the deleted scenes? Your guess is as good as mine. Also, for those not interested in extras (or actual 1080p resolution), 20th Century Fox is making the film available for HD download (iTunes etc…) September 18th.

Fox will release the Alien spinoff, starring Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Guy Pearce, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Benedict Wong, Emun Elliott, Patrick Wilson and Ian Whyte, on physical discs on October 11.
