What’s your pleasure? I hope it’s a piano cover of Christopher Young’s Hellraiser theme because that’s what you’re gonna get! It was done by YouTube user Tron91 and really captures that subtly creepy and haunting atmosphere that Young (A Nightmare On Elm St. 2, Drag Me To Hell, Sinister) so brilliantly crafted into the score. It even got Clive Barker’s stamp of approval! Check it out below. READ MORE
Originally titled “New Genesis”, Clive Barker was asked to change the name of the series due to some legal issues with DC Comics. Boom! Studios has released further details on what is now being called “Next Testament”. Hellraiser: The Dark Watch #3 brings in such fresh energy and original ideas into the long-lasting mythology. In a bold move, Clive Barker and Brandon Seifert’s reboot of the “Hellraiser” franchise will please longtime fans, while newcomers will be able to catch up with the history. Aimed as a standalone issue, if you haven’t read any of “The Dark Watch” issues, this is definitely the one to pick up. READ MORE
A few days ago I sat down and rewatched Clive Barker’s Lord Of Illusions, a film that I feel doesn’t get enough credit with many horror fans. I was first interested in this movie when I saw the poster for it at my local movie theater. Something about that image enticed me and it was always on my mind. When I was old enough, I rented the VHS and sat down to watch this supernatural-horror-meets-film-noir that I’d been eager to see for years. Much to my chagrin, it was awful. Full of plot holes and jarring edits, it was a mess of a film. Being a big Clive Barker fan, I was crushed. READ MORE
We recently announced the coming of Boom! Studios new comic series from Clive Barker, intended to be called New Genesis (article here). Apparently this knotted the panties of the folks at DC because New Genesis is the name of the planet of the New Gods in the DCU. However, it’s important to note that the term “New Genesis” has apparently not been trademarked, says Bleeding Cool.
What will the series name be now? Your guess is as good as ours. READ MORE
Hellraiser: The Dark Watch #2 explores its very own mythology while taking unexpected twists and turns. This is a bold and fresh step in reinventing Clive Barker’s “Hellraiser” franchise. For fans of Hellraiser 2: Hellbound, an old and unexpected face returns to the storyline. READ MORE
There is something very violent yet erotic about the music of Nine Inch Nails. Mixing harsh, electronic tonal elements with organic flavors, there might not be a more perfect movie franchise to compare it to than the Hellraiser series. That’s why the below video of Nine Inch Nails “Happiness In Slavery” (taken from the Fixed EP) mixed with footage and clips from Hellraiser II: Hellbound seems to work so beautifully. Given the stamp of approval from Clive Barker himself, it’s definitely worth checking out.
As a new chapter begins, Hellraiser: The Dark Watch #1 expands on the mythology that was originally set forth in Clive Barker’s novella, “The Hellbound Heart.” This is a continuation of Barker’s original vision of horror and a fresh start for the “Hellraiser” franchise. New readers are about to discover the mass of terror that happens when you solve the puzzle box. READ MORE
Clive Barker has a brand new original comic series coming out from BOOM! Studios that imagines God returning to Earth. Though Barker has written many comics, New Genesis is his first original comic story. The series is co-created by Mark Miller, who describes the series saying, “if God were to come back and tell you how we all got it wrong and what everything really meant.”
“New Genesis” with feature artwork from Haemi Jang (“Hellraiser: The Road Below”). The series will run for 12 issues beginning in May, 2013. More details below. READ MORE

They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery. While many people think that what Lady Gaga does is unique, others claim that Madonna (amongst others throughout history) has done it before. Regardless of any of that, Gaga certainly takes a lot of inspiration from the horror genre. It’s obvious in her music videos as well as in her…well, let’s just say in her odd dress assortments.
Now, horror legend himself Clive Barker has gone to his fans via his Facebook about one of her over-the-top masks, asking if they think she took inspiration from one of the greatest horror icons of all time: Pinhead. Now, the mask doesn’t resemble Pinhead from the films. However, when one reads the description of Pinhead from Barker’s The Hellbound Heart, suddenly things start to click a bit more.
Here’s the description from the book: “Its voice, unlike that of its companion, was light and breathy-the voice of an excited girl. Every inch of its head had been tattooed with an intricate grid, and at every intersection of horizontal and vertical axes a jeweled pin driven through to the bone. Its tongue was similarly decorated.” (Hellbound Heart, Ch. 1)
Check out the mask below and lend your thoughts in the comments. READ MORE

You can all rest easy. With the final issue of Clive Barker and Mark Miller’s Hellraiser coming to a close next week with issue #20 (preview here), the future of the franchise at Boom! Studios was uncertain until now. USA Today broke the news that “Witch Doctor” scribe and writer of “Hellraiser: The Road Below”, Brandon Seifert, will be collaborating with Clive Barker for a brand new ongoing “Hellraiser” series titled “The Dark Watch”. Tom Garcia will be taking on art duties for the series, and it is confirmed that it will pick up where the series leaves off.
Seifert assures that the series will also be easy for new readers to jump in, saying, it “picks up with familiar characters in unfamiliar roles, and I’m making a big effort to make it accessible for new readers.” Seifert was keen to note that the original story, “The Hellbound Heart” and the original films have always been a huge influence on him, and he plans to explore the world that Barker has created. “Hellraiser: The Dark Watch” kicks off in February 2013. It’s been a crazy week for Boom! Studio’s Hellraiser, and it all comes down to this. Issue #20 is officially the final issue of the ongoing “Hellraiser” comic from Clive Barker and Mark Miller. Boom! promises more “Hellraiser,” but the publisher is keeping hush hush regarding the new series (teased earlier this week). Regardless, below we’ve got the exclusive preview for “Hellraiser” #20. Earlier today we reported that the current Clive Barker Hellraiser ongoing was canned. Well, apparently not so much. BOOM! Studios just sent out a new teaser image for “Hellraiser”, the file name of which was Hellraiser_DarkWatch. The teaser reads, “The Pinheads will finally meet…in hell,” which leads me to believe the series is not in fact over, but continuing strong. Absolutely no word as to who will be writing and illustrating the series. Check out the colorful teaser below. READ MORE
It is not a good week in hell. First Vertigo gives “Hellblazer” the axe, only to create a way less interesting version of Constantine in the DCU. Now, BOOM! Studios rips out the hearts of horror fans by bringing an end to Clive Barker’s current Hellraiser ongoing. The series has been a favorite of the BD staff for quite some time, and there’s no real explanation as to why it’s getting canceled…I had to find out via Bleeding Cool. The book ends with issue #20 this month.
Just in time for the 25th anniversary of the classic Clive Barker horror film Hellraiser, a limited-edition reissue of Christopher Young’s memorable score for both the first film and it’s sequel, Hellraiser 2: Hellbound, has been made available for pre-order. All music has been remastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland.
There is something visually disturbing on almost every page of Hellraiser #19. The story arc is layered with subplots and the illustrations are eerily atmospheric. This “Hellraiser” series continues to be an ambitious effort. Back at the helm, Clive Barker maintains his original vision of terror and gore that was established in his novella, “The Hellbound Heart”. This issue will make you forget about the previous sub-par sequels that have plagued the “Hellraiser” franchise. READ MORE
As you gear up for Halloween, many of you likely have a list of films you always watch around this time of year. Chances are Clive Barker’s Hellraiser is on that list.
