I’ve Already Decided I Don’t Want To Play ‘Basement Crawl’

Hello, my name is Adam, and I have a fear of clowns.

Polish developer Bloober Team has unveiled their next game, a mysterious PS4 exclusive launch title called Basement Crawl. We don’t know really anything about it outside of the above picture of an intensely freaky clown and the strong possibility that this creepy little bastard may or may not be chasing my screaming ass through a basement. I’m going to go ahead and hand over all future coverage of this game to TJ from now on — I need to go turn on every light and start thinking happy thoughts.

Eli Roth’s ‘Clown’ Finds Parents, Shooting Underway

Peter Stormare (Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters, Fargo) and Laura Allen (From Within, The Collective) will also star in the Eli Roth-produced Clown, THR adds this afternoon.

Produced by the Hostel and Cabin Fever director, and to be distributed via Dimension Films, production is underway in Ottawa.

The film co-stars Andy Powers, Christian DiStefano, Elizabeth Whitmere and Matthew Stefiuk.

Jon Watts is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Christopher D. Ford. It became an internet “thing” when a spoof trailer circulated back in 2011. In it, “A loving father dons a clown outfit, wig, bulbous nose and pancake makeup to entertain at his son’s sixth birthday after the clown-for-hire is a no-show. Unable to take off the clown garb, dad’s personality changes in horrific fashion. He and his family race to break the curse of the evil outfit before he undergoes a complete transformation into a homicidal killer with over-sized shoes.

Clown is scheduled for release next year.

[TIFF '12] Dimension Closing In On Eli Roth Projects ‘Aftershock’ And ‘Clown’

Eli Roth (Hostel, Inglourious Basterds ) is having a good TIFF! Deadline is reporting that Dimension has picked up both two of his producing projects at the fest. His completed starring feature Aftershock (which is soon having its world premiere at the fest) and his yet-to-be-filmed Clown. This means we’ll be seeing both of them in theaters at some point, as a wide release is part of the deal.

Per Deadline, “Bob Weinstein’s Dimension Films is near a deal to acquire ‘Aftershock’, which is screening here, and ‘Clown’, which will start production soon. These are two Eli Roth-produced genre films. Roth stars in ‘Aftershock’. I’ve heard that the minimum guarantee commitment is upwards of $2 million for each film, plus a guarantee of a wide theatrical release.

In Aftershock, “In Chile, an American tourist’s vacation goes from good to great when he meets some beautiful women travellers. But when an earthquake ravages the underground nightclub they’re in, a fun night quickly turns to terror. Escaping to the surface is just the beginning as they face nightmarish chaos above ground. Starring Eli Roth and Selena Gomez.

In Clown, “a loving father dons a clown outfit, wig, bulbous nose and pancake makeup to entertain at his son’s sixth birthday after the clown-for-hire is a no-show. Unable to take off the clown garb, dad’s personality changes in horrific fashion. He and his family race to break the curse of the evil outfit before he undergoes a complete transformation into a homicidal killer with over-sized shoes.

The Toronto International Film Festival runs from September 6th-16th.

New Horror Anthology Gives You Two Choices, ‘Scary Or Die’

Scary Or Die looks like it could be kind of fun. The brainchild of filmmaker Michael Emanuel, Scary Or Die is an anthology of five different, seemingly pretty wacky, horror tales.

From the official site, “A flesh-eating clown desperately trying to protect the person he craves the most, A dirty cop and a hit gone wrong with a vengeful Necromancer, a beautiful but mysterious woman and a lonely man looking for love in all the wrong places, a gruesome blood splattered uprising of Illegal Mexican Zombies, and a Cajun conjure grandfather whose gift of never ending love goes terribly awry… ‘Scary Or Die’ is a unique experience in horror filmmaking certain to fulfill all your twisted horror film experience needs.

Written and directed by Emanuel and starring teen hearthrob Corbin Bleu, the segment titled ‘Clowned’ tells a story of young street hustler Emmett, who gets bitten by a clown at a birthday party and begins to undergo a Kafkaesque metamorphosis with horrifying consequences.
Also starring are international film star Domiziano Arcangeli, Bill Oberst Jr., Christopher Darga, Alexandra Choi, Elizabeth DiPrinzio, Shannon Bobo, Charles Rahi Chun, Andrew Caldwell, Shawn Caulin Young and Nicole Moore

Slipknot’s Corey Taylor And M. Shawn Crahan Shot In The Head?

livingbreathingfilmspaperlogo Slipknots Corey Taylor And M. Shawn Crahan Shot In The Head?
Slipknot‘s Corey Taylor and M. Shawn Crahan have released a short film entitled Thy Shalt I to promote their film production company Living Breathing Films. The short film depicts Corey and Shawn being bound, their heads covered with potato sacks, and walking through a dead forest. Let me reiterate: A LOT of walking. As thrilled as I am that two obvious horror fanatics are putting themselves into the film/TV world, this is not a good start. The shots are overly long with no real creative angles as well as unnecessary rehashing of previous footage. For a 15-minute film, it could easily have been trimmed down by at least half. Check it out for yourself below.

Can Slipknot Make Up Their Mind?

slipknotlivephoto Can Slipknot Make Up Their Mind?
In a recent interview with Kerrang! magazine, Slipknot percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan stated that the band will be recording another album: “No one will push it, because it’s going to be a big one. It’ll be closer to ‘Iowa’, but it’ll be sadder and crazier. And really thought provoking, it could even be conceptual. We’re still taking some time to reflect on our brother [Paul Gray]. Everybody needs to be collecting thoughts so they can get it out and no one has really had time to collect thoughts yet. But we’re the fucking ‘KNOT. And when we come out, you’ll know your band is done.”
However, singer Corey Taylor has many times said that he is unsure if the band will record another album. In fact, speaking to the same magazine in August, Taylor said, “It’s still too soon. At least that’s how I feel. I’m not ready to make a Slipknot album.”
Guys, no offense, but you all need to get your story straight within your own camp before releasing conflicting stories. I’m all for a new Slipknot album but I need to see every member have the same energy and conviction as the other. Take your time, collect your thoughts, grieve, do what you need to do. Then come back and show me what you all can do. I know you’ve got it in you.

Slipknot’s Clown Posts Video For Black Dots Of Death Project

Slipknot‘s Clown has released a video that is meant to discuss his Black Dots Of Death project. However, the video is such a garbled mess that I couldn’t watch more than two minutes before shutting it off in disgust. After hearing ‘Let’s Get F**ked Up‘, I didn’t have high hopes. Now, whatever hopes were remaining are dashed. I’m happy for Clown that he’s expanding and still doing work, but I just can’t get on board with Black Dots Of Death. Anyone of you guys into this?

Eli Roth ‘Clown’ Short Becomes Feature, ‘Aftershock’

Back in October we brought you a pretty awesome Halloween treat: a mock trailer for Clown, which was assembled using Eli Roth’s name as the crux for the joke. While it was funny, it was actually a pretty sweet idea for a feature as it followed a dad who puts on a clown costume for his kid’s birthday, only to have it transform into an evil clown creature. The treat is now a full blown bag of candy as a feature film version was financed, with Roth coming aboard to produce. You’ll find the full details inside, along with info a second project, Aftershock, which takes place following the Chilean earthquake.
