‘The Last of Us’ Survival Edition And Post-Pandemic Edition Have Me Torn

Sony recently took to their official blog to unveil the two very special editions of Naughty Dog’s upcoming post-apocalyptic PS3 exclusive The Last of Us, and after looking at them both I’m a little torn. Coming exclusively to North America are the $79.99 Survival Edition and a $149.99 Post-Pandemic Edition, which is targeted at the “true collector.” Full details after the break.

Deep Silver Reveals ‘Dead Island Riptide’ Rigor Mortis Edition And Fan-Sourced Contents

Back in October, Deep Silver asked fans what we would like to see in the Dead Island Riptide collector’s edition. Now the votes have been tallied, and the contents of the very special Rigor Mortis Edition have been unveiled. The items that proved the most popular are definitely the cooler ones from the list, though I’ll admit I am a little bummed the microfiber screen cleaning cloth didn’t make the cut. Check it out after the break!

Metro

Pre-Order ‘Metro: Last Light’ For Extra Bullets, A Modified Gun, And A Special “Ranger Mode”

Oh, Metro: Last Light, why do you have to be so far away. Some say the world is ending this month, but I say the apocalypse won’t happen until March, and I cannot wait. I’m prepared, too. I have my survival plan worked out, I have a map of the Metro, and I’ve been honing my skills with various weapons in nightly Halo sessions. If you want to be as prepared as I am, you should consider pre-ordering the game.

Those who do will get the Limited Edition, which comes with the game, the Ranger load-out (extra military grade bullets!), a modified AKS-74U, and access to the “Ranger Mode.” If this interests you and you own a PS3, you can grab the digital version on PSN for a special theme and a free digital copy of Homefront when Metro: Last Light releases.

‘The Walking Dead’ Collector’s Edition Is Something I’d Very Much Like To Own

I own the first four episodes of Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead and I’ll undoubtedly be dropping the cash to get the finale when it releases in early December. Now, it looks like I’ll also have to spend the $69.99 for the Ultimate Badass Zombie Slayer Edition (not the real name, even though it should be), which includes all five episodes and The Walking Dead Compendium One with cover art designed by Charlie Adlard — a collection of the first 48 issues of Robert Kirkman’s award-winning comic book series. If you’re not into the comics, there’s always the basic $29.99 retail version that bundles the five episodes together.

Having never read the comic book, but always wanted to, the collector’s edition sounds fantastic. Unfortunately, it’s a Gamestop pre-order exclusive, and it’s doubly sad that we’ll have to wait until December 4th for it to release. Thankfully, there are plenty games between now and then to keep us busy.

Feel Free To Gorge Yourself On This New ‘Bioshock Infinite’ Trailer And Ultimate Songbird Edition Details

I’ll admit I’ve been getting a little worried about Bioshock Infinite after some key talent behind the title left Irrational Games — including AI lead Don Norbury and combat design director Clint Bundrick. It’s rarely good news when a game goes silent, but thankfully, this game has jumped back into the spotlight with a glorious new trailer and details on the incredibly tempting Songbird Edition. This special edition brings with it a 3-inch Murder of Crows vigor bottle keychain, a 5×7-inch lithograph by Jorge Lacera, a 25 millimeter, resin-cast Handyman figure, an art book, exclusive digital goods (digital soundtrack, avatar clothing, themes, etc.), and a beautiful 9.75-inch Songbird statue. Naturally, this is going to cost us an arm and a leg, but this might be worth the sacrifice.

The Ultimate Songbird edition will include all that for a $149.99 price tag, or you can grab the Premium edition that includes everything I mention, except the Songbird statue, for $79.99. Check out a picture of all the aforementioned special edition contents, as well as a gorgeous new trailer, after the jump.

Vote On What You Would Like To See In The ‘Dead Island: Riptide’ Collector’s Edition

When it comes to collector’s editions, do you prefer key chains over branded headsets? How about notepads versus luggage straps? If you feel strongly about any of that, now’s your chance to get your voice heard. Publisher Deep Silver is looking to the fans to help decide on the contents in the Dead Island: Riptide collector’s edition, and if the survey is anything to go by, the possibilities are practically endless. Of course, many of the options aren’t terribly exciting, that is, unless you’re particularly fond of microfiber screen cleaning cloths, pillow cases, or beach balls. If you’re interested, you should definitely go fill it out.

RE6

‘Resident Evil 6′ Collector’s Edition Contents Detailed, Probably Won’t Cost $1,300

Capcom is making Resident Evil 6 the most content heavy installment in their long-running series. It brings with it three campaigns that are each roughly 80% the length of the campaign in RE5. For those of you who skipped that game, you could beat it in about 3-4 hours, so it’s not quite as impressive as it might at first sound. Visually, the game looks incredible and looks to have grown a bit, at least

PureStyle

The $1,300 Resident Evil 6 Premium Edition Comes With Leon’s Jacket, But Really, Can You Put A Price On Style?

Apparently you can, because this brings with it one of the most outrageous price tags I’ve seen on a collector’s edition. You’ll need to drop 105,000 Yen, or $1,300 on the Resident Evil 6 Premium Edition, but it’ll come with Leon’s jacket, and that’s easily worth donating a few unnecessary body parts to your local black market. Now, this isn’t the fur-lined jacket he wore — fabulously, I might add — in Resident Evil 4.. Now Leon’s sporting a badass biker jacket, a jacket that instantly transforms its wearer into the type of man the president’s daughter swoons over, the type of man who cuts down hundreds of zombies without loosening a single hair from his altar boy haircut, the type of man who has a vast arsenal of witty one-liners cocked and ready for use at all times. The collection also includes four exclusive tablet covers, featuring Chris, Leon, Jake Muller (Wesker’s son), and a secret character.

Oh, and you’ll also get the game, but really, who cares about that? You’ll be far too busy basking in the warm glow of your friends’ admiration to actually play the game. If you feel like wasting a ton of money on something you could buy pretty much anywhere, I suggest you find something better to spend it on. Like anything. Seriously, anything. READ MORE

Dead Space 2 Collector’s Edition Has Me All Excited

I love Dead Space, I really do, but I rarely go out and throw down extra cash for collector’s editions of games, no matter how much I might love the goodies inside. This collector’s edition might change my mind though because the plasma cutter looks awesome.

21 Dead Space 2 Collectors Edition Has Me All Excited

While the gun might be the most enticing thing in this edition, assuming it’s not made of some cheap plastic that is; there’s plenty more being offered here to get excited about. Head past the jump to see nice big pictures of everything Dead Space 2′s Collector’s Edition has to offer when it ships in January.
