If Only ‘Aliens: Colonial Marines’ Had Been As Amazing As Its CG Trailer

Excluding my thoughts on it, Aliens: Colonial Marines isn’t getting the best reception from fans right now. Even Mr. Disgusting is getting rid of his copy, and that’s never a good sign. I heard he once spent an all-nighter with Duke Nukem Forever, and loved every second. Look, it’s a flawed game, but the potential is certainly there. Some of that potential can be seen in this action-packed CG launch trailer, which is more fun to watch than a majority of the game was to play. Let’s watch it, enjoy it, and think about what could have been.

Not Everyone Is Happy With ‘Aliens: Colonial Marines’

The reviews are in for Aliens: Colonial Marines, and a majority of them are pretty negative. I enjoyed it, at least most of it anyway, but I can understand the disappointment. One fan is particularly angry with the direction Gearbox Software took with it, and whether or not you agree with him his video review is a fun watch. Check it out after the jump.

‘Aliens: Colonial Marines’ Review: Stay Frosty And Alert

Feel that? That’s the calm before the storm. Enjoy this, because by the time March comes along, hot new games will practically be coming out of the walls. Last week was all about Dead Space 3 (here’s what Brittany thought of it), and this week we have the similarly themed Aliens: Colonial Marines. Both are the third entries in acclaimed sci-fi horror franchises that feature co-op, a delightful blend of human and alien enemies, and they even start you off in outer space before crashing your unsuspecting ass on a nearby planet about a third of the way through.

‘Aliens: Colonial Marines’ Is Getting The Season Pass Treatment, “Bug Hunt” DLC Coming Next Month

This should come as no surprise, but if you’re easily startled, I suggest you sit down. Sega has confirmed that Aliens: Colonial Marines will indeed be getting a Season Pass. It will run you $29.99, or 2,400 MSP, and according to Sega that translates to a 40% discount off what you’d have to pay if you purchased everything it unlocks individually. The post-release support will include four add-ons for the game, the first of which has just been unveiled. It’s called Bug Hunt, and I’ll give you only one guess as to what that will be about, because that’s probably all you’ll need.

If you said it’s a survival mode that throws waves of Xenomorphs at you and your friends, than you were spot on, my friend. Bug Hunt will come with three maps for you to test your survival skills on. I’ve been playing the game for a couple days now, and so far I can say it’s significantly better than AvP, but you’ll have to wait for my review on Tuesday the 12th for more! (I know, I’m such a tease)

[Interview] Kevin Riepl On Scoring ‘Aliens: Colonial Marines’ And Living Up To The Legacy Of The Films

I recently had the opportunity to chat with composer Kevin Riepl, the man behind the soundtrack of the upcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines. Riepl’s work can also be heard in games like Gears of War and Unreal Tournament, as well as several horror films, including Silent Night and Cabin Fever: Patient Zero. Colonial Marines is a different beast in that its considered a sequel to Aliens, which obviously has a massive, devoted fan base, so there’s a definite bar to live up to. Kevin and I discuss those expectations and more after the break.

New ‘Aliens: Colonial Marines’ Multiplayer Trailer Channels ‘Left 4 Dead’

It isn’t difficult to compare the multiplayer offering in the upcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines to Left 4 Dead — the same comparisons were made for the multiplayer in Dead Space 2 — but they’ve has made it even easier by giving the Xenomorphs abilities any L4D fan is already too familiar with. An alien that spits acid? Sounds familiar. A kamikaze alien that likes to get in your personal bubble so it can explode, showering you in giblets? Yep. How about an alien that’s really big, can take tons of damage, and likes to brute force your unsuspecting ass right into a wall? Colonial Marines has that too. I’m not complaining, because it still looks fun, I only wish it were a little more original. See the multiplayer in action after the break.

The Fight For The Title Of Baddest Motherf**kers In The Galaxy Begins In This New ‘Aliens: Colonial Marines’ Trailer

I recently had myself a spectacular Aliens marathon — yes, I even watched Resurrection again — in order to prepar my mind, body, and soul for Aliens: Colonial Marines. I think it was successful, but I won’t know for sure until I get it in my hands next month. Developed by Borderlands developer Gearbox Software, Colonial Marines looks like an Aliens game. That’s important. It also looks freaky as hell, at least from the perspective of the marines. Check out a brand new trailer for it, after the break.

Not Everyone Is Coming Back Alive In This New ‘Aliens: Colonial Marines’ Trailer

Borderlands developer Gearbox Software is hard at work on what will hopefully be a good game based in the Aliens universe — it’s been too long since we’ve had one of those — with the upcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines. It looks creepy enough, and focuses on what made the films so terrifying: namely, the creepy, claustrophobic environments and the knowledge that something is totally hunting you. Check out a brand new story trailer, after the jump.

Don’t Forget To Stick Together In This New Survivor Mode Trailer For ‘Aliens: Colonial Marines’

Gamers have been waiting patiently for a great Aliens game for some time, and with each new trailer I see for the Gearbox developed Aliens: Colonial Marines I feel more confident that this could be the Aliens game we have been looking for (or this could be it too). In this brand alien-spanking new trailer, we get a good look at the new Survivor mode, which pits four marines against seemingly endless hordes of Xenomorphs. It looks like a mix of Left 4 Dead and Gears of War’s Horde mode, which I am all for. Check it out after the break.

These Marines Are So Screwed In These New Aliens Colonial Marines Screenshots

In the dark and dangerous world of Aliens: Colonial Marines there are a lot of ways you can die. The interesting thing is none of them are quick or painless. Seriously, there hasn’t been a single story of a marine dying in his sleep while dreaming about childhood memories of playing in the backyard with his dog on a warm summer day while his mom baked cookies and brewed lemonade. No sir, in Colonial Marines you can look forward to being burned alive, eaten, dissected, bisected, or experiencing any number of other gruesome deaths where that thing that’s trying to kill you will always give you plenty of time to think about just how slow and awful your impending death is going to be. Where was I? Oh yeah, here are some screenshots. READ MORE

The Aliens: Colonial Marines Cover Art Is Worth Drooling Over

Some might look at this cover art for the long in development Aliens: Colonial Marines to be nothing more than neat box art. Its eye-catching, there’s no denying that, but there’s more to it. You see, the marines are inside the xenomorph’s head, and that’s actually a metaphor for the complex relationship between the xenomorphs and the marines. I’m just kidding, the xenomorphs want to to tear the marines into pieces while they scream and fear-pee themselves, and there’s not much else to it.

E3: New Colonial Marines Screens Look Good

This game has been in development for a long time, and for a while there we thought the game had entered that dreaded place video games go when they’re put on hold. Fortunately, Aliens: Colonial Marines looks like it’s still on track, and we have developer Gearbox Software (Borderlands, Duke Nukem Forever) to thank for how good it’s looking right now. At the very least with Gearbox behind it I think it’s safe to say the game will be better than that awful AvP game from early last year.

1 E3: New Colonial Marines Screens Look Good

Until yesterday Colonial Marines has been pretty quiet, but that silence seems to have ended with the game’s E3 trailer debut and the possibility that it will be making its way to the newly announced Wii U. Sadly, while I do have some screenshots for you, I wish I could offer more as there aren’t very many to feast your big, beautiful eyes on. Yeah, I’m talking to you, you saucy minx. Head past the jump to check them out. READ MORE
