With the digital age of comics thriving, there sure have been some issues over the past few months. It began a month ago when Apple asked French comics distributor Izneo to remove over a thousand titles from the app due to content issues. Then began the whole “Saga” fiasco, which turned out to be ComiXology trying to stay in line with Apple’s guidelines. The “Saga” ban was blown out of proportion and eventually the issue in question was put back on the device. However, Bleeding Cool reports that now some other titles have been removed from the iOS app. READ MORE
People flocked to local comic shops this past Saturday to get their hands on some free books, courtesy of Free Comic Book Day. Most shops limited the number of books you were allowed to take, and some people just couldn’t make it to the shop. So here are links to some of the free comics in case you missed out on the fun. Titles below include “Metaphase”, “The Steam Engines of Oz”, “Aphrodite XI”, and a few more. Bleeding Cool for also has some free embedded books that are worth checking out. READ MORE

This time you have to sign up in advance before April 19th 11:59 PM on their special promo site. Why they don’t give away only a few books per day, I don’t know. So head on over, sign up, and grab as many as you can before the inevitable happens. READ MORE

ComiXology has just announced the release of “Submit” – comiXology’s self-publishing platform for independent comics creators. This is a massive game changer in the comics industry that will allow indie creators to get there work out to the rest of the world via digital distribution.
Any creators can simply upload their comic book and graphic novels for approval at no cost. ComiXology does the rest of the work, including transforming the book into guided view mode, and making it available on comiXology’s website. Hop on the noir/horror train before you miss it. READ MORE
