When I look back on this past year in music I took into consideration the albums I was looking forward to, the albums I didn’t see coming, and the songs that got stuck in my head all day. It’d really hard to do a retrospective but after serious consideration I finally got the the list right. Enjoy.
About a month ago it was announced on Bridge 9′s website that post hardcore act Crime In Stereo had broken up. The news sucked and the worst part is there wasn’t an official reason as to why and the only info that was available was just that, that they had broken up. Today the band’s guitarist Alex Dunne shed some light on the band’s break up as well as their final video for the song “I Am Everything I Am Not” off their full length ” I Was Trying To Describe You To Someone”.
“We’d like to thank everybody for the kind words and well wishes.
Many of you are requesting that we reveal the reasons behind the breakup. Like any divorce, there’s no one reason. It’s the cumulative effect of many problems left unchecked/unresolved over the course of years. Many of these reasons are personal and we ask that you respect our decision to move on. We appreciate the support that’s been given to us over the years, and we feel truly blessed to have done this for so long. I think the longevity of Crime in Stereo was more a testament to you than it was to us.”

Sadly I woke up to find out about this today. A lot of bands have broken up this year but I’m especially bummed about these guys. As of now no one knows yet why the band has broken up but hopefully they will all still pursue futures with music. Earlier this year Crime In Stereo released their fourth full length “I Was Trying To Describe You To Someone” which is definitely a phenomenal record and definitely one to be proud of as their last release. As soon as details come about what cause this break up I’ll have it posted until then you can read my interview from earlier this year with lead singer Kristian Hallbert HERE.
One of the coolest things about writing about music for a website is getting to interview bands you really appreciate. Recently I got to catch up with Kristian Hallbert of Crime In Stereo to talk about to talk about their new album “I Was Trying To Describe You To Someone”.
