Trailer Premiere For Alien Abduction Horror ‘Dark Skies’

In theaters February 22 from Dimension Films is Dark Skies, the alien abduction horror film starring Keri Russell, Daniel Barrett and Josh Hamilton. The trailer premiered today, and while the aliens stuff on “American Horror Story: Asylum” is definitely scarier, this looks like it has potential (or maybe I was tricked by the Aliens score at the end?). I’m intrigued by the family abuse angle, which hightens the story a bit past where a film like Fire in the Sky went (although that it was one, if not THE scariest alien abduction film ever made).

Jason Blum through his Blumhouse Productions and Alliance Films are producing with Dimension on to distribute, we exclusively reported that the horror flick focuses on a 6-year-old boy who’s apparently been “marked” by an alien (living among us) for future abduction. It looks like it taps into some of the same themes of Fright Night, while also playing into child abuse (did the parents cause these marks on the child’s body?) READ MORE

‘Dark Skies’ Parts The Clouds With New Synopsis

Last month Dimension Films confirmed our scoop that they have acquired U.S. distribution rights to the supernatural thriller Dark Skies, written and directed by Scott Stewart (Priest, Legion). Jason Blum (Insidious) will produce through Blumhouse Productions alongside Alliance Films, which will fully finance the picture. Alliance Films will distribute in Canada, in the UK (via Momentum Pictures), and in Spain.

We already knew that the horror flick focuses on the parent’s 6-year-old boy who’s apparently been “marked” by an alien (living among us) for future abduction. Now the official synopsis ties into that description, “Dark Skies is a psychological thriller about a suburban couple whose lives become a nightmare when a terrifying alien presence enters their home each night to prey upon their children. Increasingly isolated from skeptical friends and neighbors, the couple is forced to take matters into their own hands to save their family.

Dark Skies stars Keri Russell (Mission: Impossible III, Grimm Love) and Daniel Barrett as the aforementioned suburban couple. The film is scheduled to go into production this summer.

‘Dark Skies’ Marks Two For Abduction Film

Dark Skies Marks Two For Abduction Film

Hidden within an article a few weeks ago it was revealed that Legion and Priest director Scott Charles Stewart would be getting behind the camera for Dimension Films’ Dark Skies, some sort of sci-fi horror that was being kept secret.

That’s never good enough for us here on Bloody Disgusting, which is why I put in a few calls and started digging.

Being produced by Blumhouse and Alliance Films, we’ve exclusively learned that the horror flick focuses on a 6-year-old boy who’s apparently been “marked” by an alien (living among us) for future abduction. It looks like it taps into some of the same themes of Fright Night, while also playing into child abuse (did the parents cause these marks on the child’s body?)

Keri Russell (Mission: Impossible III, Grimm Love) and Daniel Barrett are both in talks, BD also discovered. They would play the young boys parents, who are financially struggling to get by.

Blumhouse is responsible for the Paranormal Activity films, and the forthcoming The Lords of Salem, directed by Rob Zombie, Sinister, Area 51, Vigilandia, Not Safe For Work and Mockingbird. Wowsa! READ MORE
