You can’t keep a good monster hunter down, especially when she carries the sass and swagger of Tim Seeley’s Cassandra Hack. Partner that with the brash and equally sassy Bomb Queen, and you have yourselves a recipe for nothing but sheer awesomeness. For further proof of this you can check out the following 6 page preview. One of the trademarks of Tim Seeley’s ubber popular “HACK/SLASH” has always been the fact that the monthly will often implement the help of some of horror’s favorite icons. Recently that has been missing from the title, but come November the Image crew will be more than making up for it as they team-up with writer/director Adam Green for “HATCHET/SLASH”, the series’ all new 2011 annual, and the first from the publisher. Below you can check out all the killer deets and get your first look art the cover art…
WRITTEN BY: Benito Cereno
ILLUSTRATIONS BY: Ariel Zucker-Brull
COVERS BY: Tim Seeley, Mark Englert, and Ariel Zucker-Brull
“The biggest stars in comic book horror meet the biggest star in independent horror films as Cassie and Vlad meet Hatchet’s Victor Crowley! In the Louisiana Bayou, the murderous ghost of Victor Crowley is maiming tourists in creatively horrible ways. But in his blind murderous rampage, he may have created something worse than himself! Now, Cassie and Vlad are back in New Orleans, and it won’t be long before baseball bat meets hatchet and deformed mutant meets deformed mutant!”
“HACK/SLASH ANNUAL” Drops November 2nd From Image Comics! (MSRP – $4.99)
Do you hate “THE JERSEY SHORE”? Okay, rhetorical question, but do you have disturbingly vivid daydreams almost everyday about the cast of the show being murdered in some sort of sadistic manner involving a butcher knife and a waffle iron? Okay…maybe that part is just me…however it appears as if Tim Seeley and the “HACK/SLASH” boys do too, and beyond the break you can check out all the gory action with a 4 page preview of the first issue of the newest story-arc in the series, “FAME MONSTER”. It’s that time of the week again! Welcome to the weekly previews for June 22nd, 2011 here at Bloody-Disgusting.com! The truth is everyone would read all the books if they had the time and money, but in reality most of us don’t. Here you will find a little taste of some major comics being released each week, my take on them, and, as always, feels free to discuss below. Whether you have been into comics since you were a little one, or are new to the game, I’m here to help you decide which books are for you. I’ve picked out some comics I feel will stand out in the coming week and listed them under their respective publisher, with over a dozen previews of some of your favorite books such as CAPTAIN AMERICA, BATMAN: GATES OF GOTHAM, 68, HACK/SLASH, and more. One of the things that makes Tim Seeley and Daniel Leister’s “HACK/SLASH” so endearing is the fact that it is always conscious of the events of the real world, and isn’t afraid to take a ‘stab’ at them in the way only Seeley and Leister can. (You thought we were going to say boobs, didn’t you? Perverts.) The perfect example of this is the newly released advance cover artwork for some of the upcoming issues of the monthly from Image Comics, one of which featuring the loose likenesses of the “JERSEY SHORE” cast. Below you can check out the covers and see for yourself.
With C2E2 2011 ending, we had to get in one final interview for all of our readers before we could feel right about leaving the convention. That interview, of course, was with the always awesome Tim Seeley and Daniel Leister, otherwise known as the dynamic duo that bring you Image’s “HACK/SLASH”! The guys (who are always happy to update the hordes of Graphic Content faithful) sat down with myself and Johnny_Trouble to talk about ALL of their many projects, including “HACK/SLASH”, “WILD GAMES”, their work with Halo-8, and so much more. Inside you can check out the interview and get ALL the exclusive content, as brought to you the way only we can. Read on for the skinny!
As Tim Seeley and Daniel Leister’s “HACK/SLASH” continues to make strong showings on the sales charts, one would begin to wonder if the acquisition of the series by Image Comics could be the comic book equivalent of the Lou Brock trade of the 1960′s. (Baseball reference…anybody?) Inside you can check out a brand spankin’ new 6 page preview of the second issue that hits stands this week. Read on for the skinny!
With Cassie’s “FIRST MANIAC” out of the way, series creator and scribe Tim Seeley can now focus on getting back into the series he left off months ago with his old publisher’s Devil’s Due within the pages of the first official issue of “HACK/SLASH” from Image! The book went on sale today, but inside you can get a look at a third variant cover and a 5 page preview. Read on for the skinny!
This week Tim Seeley and illustrator Dan Leister dive head-first into the past of Cassie Hack’s monster side-kick, Vlad, with the one-shot event from Image entitled “ME WITHOUT YOU”. The book dropped yesterday, but if you are one of those crazy people who have yet to pick this puppy up, we sort of have you covered with a 4 page preview. (Note-We cannot provide nor restore your dignity. Sorry.) Read on for the skinny!
Next Wednesday Tim Seeley will be continuing what is possibly the best arc yet of his fan favorite ‘HACK/SLASH’ series with the third issue of ‘MY FIRST MANIAC’, and to get fans pumped Image Comics has released an expanded 9 page look at the title that you can check out if you make the jump. After an absolutely abysmal week for new comics (Hey don’t blame us for no pick of the week, because frankly, there was nothing worth recommending) last week due to the holiday, comic book fans can rejoice as the Summer push is finally upon us, and this week you will have plenty of great titles to choose from. However, if you are looking for a sure fire way to drop $4s and feel great about it afterwords, then look no further than our BD Pick Of The Week this week, “HACK/SLASH: MY FIRST MANIAC”! Inside you can read the first 5 pages and also read our official review of the book that awards it with a rare 5 Skulls! How’s that for a ‘why you should care’? Read on for the skinny!
When Tim Seeley made the announcement that he would be taking his flagship title “HACK/SLASH” away from publisher Devil’s Due and moving over to Image Comics, there was a very positive outcry amongst fans of the series who saw the move as a step in the right direction for their beloved series. It is true that under DDP the title felt as if it were being held down, and with many issues finding themselves pushed back or delayed from their original release dates it was apparent that change was needed. With the final issue of “SUPER SIDEKICK SLEEPOVER SLAUGHTER” that was released last month, Tim has decided to boldly go where he has never gone before: into the origins of his iconic heroine, Cassie Hack.
