New Pics From ‘Manborg’ Highlight The Epic-Ness

We’ve got some new stills for Manborg, the cult favorite sci-fi/fantasy homage coming to select theaters and DVD on April 30, from Dark Sky Films and they underscore just how much of a bizarre pastiche this film is. I’m hoping I love it!

The armies of hell have taken over the Earth, and all that stands in the way of the villainous Count Draculon and humanity’s total extinction is a motley crew of misfits led by the mighty Manborg: a warrior who’s half-man, half-machine, but all hero.

Once a young soldier killed during the first war against hell, Manborg (Matthew Kennedy, Lazer Ghosts 2) reawakens in the future, rebuilt as a walking weapon and mankind’s last hope. Struggling to learn the secret of his origins, Manborg unwittingly befriends a post-apocalyptic Australian punker (Conor Sweeney, Heart of Karl), a knife-wielding vixen (Meredith Sweeney, Father’s Day) and a kung fu master before finally squaring off against Count Draculon (Adam Brooks, Father’s Day) in a desperate and bloody bid to take back the Earth.

This campy, comedic action flick, which Variety called “enjoyably ridiculous,” is also an affectionate and clever tribute to fan favorite ’80s films and videogames like The Terminator, RoboCop and “Mortal Kombat.” READ MORE

New Trailer For ‘Manborg’ Ups The Ante!

We’ve got a second trailer for Manborg, the cult favorite sci-fi/fantasy homage coming to select theaters and DVD on April 30, from Dark Sky Films – and it’s even more fun than the last one (which is also included below).

[BD Review] ‘Stitches’ Is Destined To Be A Cult Classic!!

Fantastic Films and MPI Media Group (Hatchet II, Stakeland, The Innkeepers)’s horror comedy Stitches, directed by Conor McMahon, is currently out on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD – and I certainly recommend it! So I’m taking the time to re-post Mr. Disgusting’s review to remind you of the film’s potential!

And while the filmmakers let the good times roll, when its time to get to business, they f*cking deliver. Stitches is a relentless and brutal slasher that’s not only ultra violent, but also off-the-wall gory. But the icing in the ice cream cake is how original the death scenes are taking the genre to an entirely new level (think Killer Klownz weird).

[Video Interview] Conor McMahon And Tommy Knight On The Kills Of ‘Stitches’ And A Potential ‘Stitches 2′!

I loved Stitches almost as much as Mr. Disgusting (read his review). I recently sat down with the film’s writer/director Conor McMahon and one of its’ stars, Tommy Knight to talk about preserving character in a slasher full of inventive kills. We also touch on the possibility of Stitches 2.

Years after a cruel kids’ prank during a birthday party for 8-year-old Tommy (Tommy Knight, Doctor Who, The Sarah Jane Adventures) left hired clown Richard “Stitches” Grindle (Ross Noble) dead on the kitchen floor, the childhood friends gather to plan a birthday bash to end all bashes. But they haven’t counted on the degenerate jester rising from the grave to seek vengeance on the children who mocked him and caused his grisly, untimely end. Now Tommy and his teenage friends are on the run from an undead jokester who’s ready to use every trick in the book (and many that aren’t) to exact his revenge. McMahon delivers a delirious slasher epic, a hilariously twisted and blood-soaked tale of one very bad clown with a talent for making balloon animals – but with one very hideous difference.

Head inside for the interview! Stitches is available now on VOD, Digital Download, Blu-ray and DVD from MPI /Dark Sky Films. READ MORE

Nick Damici To Go Through Some ‘Late Phases’

Nick Damici (Stake Land, Premium Rush and the upcoming We Are What We Are remake) is set to play the lead in Late Phases the upcoming production from MPI’s Dark Sky Films and A Horrible Way To Die producer Zak Zeman’s company Site B. The werewolf tale will be directed by Adrian Garcia Bogliano (Penumbra, Here Comes The Devil) and was written by Eric Stolze (Under The Bed) and shooting is scheduled to start shooting in 2013.

‘Late Phases’ will tell the story of Ambrose McKinley, a blind war veteran, who moves into a community where the residents have been dying in increasing numbers – oddly, all have supposedly been the victims of dog attacks. But after barely surviving his own attack on his first night there, Ambrose discovers that the assailants are not just canines – they are entirely different and far more terrifying.

Per Zeman, “Nick Damici fits perfectly into this role. Combining forces with MPI and Glass Eye will bring ‘Late Phases’ to a whole new level“.

[BD Review] Brad Thinks ‘Stitches’ Is Destined To Be A Cult Classic

Fantastic Films and MPI Media Group (Hatchet II, Stakeland, The Innkeepers)’s horror comedy Stitches, directed by Conor McMahon, is heading to UK cinemas on October 26. Brad (Mr. Disgusting) recently had chance to see the film, and he’s raving about it!
