I can’t even believe how happy I am to enter the New Year. These 2013 horror movie preview lits were a lot of work, but well worth it. Over the past several days we’ve shared with you all of the great genre films we’ll be seeing in theaters next year, everything from a new Evil Dead to a new Sin City and Machete.
With the end comes the indie films, and the leftovers, which includes various titles from Magnet, Anchor Bay, IFC, among a few that could end up premiering at the 2013 film festivals. A new project on the horizon that has the potential to be pretty cool is Safari, a found-footage thriller gearing up to start shooting on October 15th in Johannesburg, South Africa. Directed by Academy Award nominee Darrell Roodt (Little One, Yesterday) and written by Dark Was The Night scribe Tyler Hisel, the pedigree is right for this one to be a cut above.
The film “centers on a band of American tourists, stranded and hunted in the heart of the South African wilderness. Their struggle to survive the elements and the vicious predators lurking the African plain is documented by the video cameras meant to record their vacation.” Rocky Myers (Vamp U) and Kim Argetsinger (Foreign Exchange) are set to star.
I recently spent some time on the set of Hisel’s Dark Was The Night and that film, directed by Jack Heller, looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. So fingers crossed on this one!

With principal photography set to wrap any day now on the production from Caliber Media Company, Sundial Pictures and Preferred Content, I can tell you that I recently flew to Southampton to spend some time on the set of Dark Was The Night.
Directed by Jack Heller (Enter Nowhere), the upcoming creature feature’s script, from Tyler Hisel, appeared on the 2009 Black List of best un-produced scripts under the title “The Trees”. The film stars Lukas Haas (Brick, Inception), Kevin Durand (“Lost” Real Steel), Heath Freeman (Skate Land), Sabina Gadecki (Freaky Deaky, “House Of Lies”), Bianca Kajlich (Halloween: Resurrection, “Rules Of Engagement”) and Nick Damici (Stake Land, Premium Rush).

Caliber Media Co., Sundial Pictures and Preferred Content have started production on the talked-about thriller script, Dark Was the Night with lensing taking place this coming Sunday, February 19th.
Kevin Durand (Real Steel, Robin Hood) and Lukas Haas (Contraband, Inception) will star in and battle with a never-before-seen monster in director Jack Heller‘s upcoming horror feature. The script, from Tyler Hisel, appeared on the 2009 Black List of best un-produced scripts, a rarity for the monster genre, under the title “The Trees”.
