Blu-ray Review: ‘Vanishing On 7th Street’

Dear everyone that hates Vanishing On 7th Street,

We’ve seen eye to eye (… well, probably) on many things in the past – we gleefully grimaced at zombies being killed to Queen’s `Don’t Stop Me Now’ in Shaun Of The Dead, got extremely creeped out by May, and collectively face palmed during the entirety of Platinum Dunes’ Nightmare On Elm Street remake – but you seem to have a strong distaste for Brad Anderson’s latest film. Actually, that’s not right. Let me rephrase that: you vehemently despise this flick. And I, for one, am sort of baffled.

Within Temptation Announce Fifth Studio Album As The Unforgiving

Within Temptation, one of my favorite female fronted bands, has announced ‘The Unforgiving’ as their long awaited fifth studio album, which is tentatively scheduled for a March 2011 release. The album is going to be a concept album based on a comic book by writer Steven O’Connell (Bloodrayne, Dark 48). The band has redesigned their website to offer clues and images in anticipation of this release.

Also well known for their amazing live visual show, Within Temptation have commissioned Romano Molenaar (Witchblade, Darkness, X-Men) to create characters and scenery for ‘The Unforgiving’.

Guitarist Robin Westerholt comments: “On this album, we’ve taken a totally different approach. Each song on “The Unforgiving” was written along Steven’s narrative. The main characters of the comic are reflected in our songs. The concept pushed us and gave us the inspiration to come up with a new approach to our sound. It resulted in writing our best songs so far.”

Vocalist Sharon Den Adel adds in: “We have been big comic fans since our childhood. With this album, we felt the time was there to take a new step in our creative development, to take it further and broaden our horizon. Because of the concept, the songs are more diverse than ever before. It was the late 80’s when we started to read comic books, and that sound has certainly has left a mark on The Unforgiving.”

Darkness

Three weeks ago, just before the lunar eclipse, American teenager Regina
(Anna Paquin) and her family moved into a charming old house in the remote
Spanish countryside. Since then, nothing has been the same. Day by day, a
strange force seems to be pulling the family apart and Regina is the only
one brave enough to search for answers. But she is about to discover the
answers to all her questions lie deep within the walls of their new home.
Something has been waiting here for her family’s arrival. Something ancient
and wicked. Something looking for retribution. A force as bottomless and
hungry as the dark itself. Now, darkness is closing in on Regina’s family,
and she’s their only chance for survival.
