[BD Review] ‘The Revenant’ Feeds Off The Funny Bone

The days may seem at their darkest, but still, you must not give in to fear. Whether the knife is against your throat, or the rapist is about to enter, you must not give up hope. You have one last chance in Hell. And do not be surprised when that moment arrives in the form of the undead. Not a zombie, or a vampire – but a revenant. The Revenant.

Originally running the festival circuits thru 2009, this multi-award winning horror comedy took years to get on the shelf. Regardless of that process of decision making, we have, bestowed upon us now, The Revenant, from special effects artist gone director, D. Kerry Prior. And while I am not a fan of the horror comedy in general, this film pierces a direct tap into the funny bone, and feeds off it relentlessly. READ MORE

Children of the Corn (remake) (V)

From co-writer/producer/director Donald P. Borchers comes the resurrection of the most unholy shocker of all: It’s 1975, and a young married couple – Vietnam vet Burt (David Anders of ALIAS and HEROES) and preacher’s daughter Vicki (Kandyse McClure of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA) – are driving cross-country straight into the heartland of Hell. Here in Gatlin, Nebraska, the town’s bloodthirsty children – led by the boy preacher Isaac and his teen enforcer Malachai – have slaughtered all adults by command of He Who Walks Behind The Rows. Now two new Outlanders have arrived…and The Time Of Sacrifice is at hand. Preston Bailey (DEXTER) and Daniel Newman co-star in this brutal and chilling re-imagining of King’s infamous tale, featuring graphic footage not seen in the Syfy Channel broadcast.

Starring Monica Keena (Freddy Vs. Jason, “Entourage”), David Anders (“Alias”) and veteran horror actor Tim Thomerson (Trancers, Dollman), Left In Darkness illuminates the story of Celia (Keena), a troubled girl whose tortured past places her in spiritual and physical limbo. But for her, it’s just the beginning: Trapped in a netherworld between sanctuary and damnation, Celia must now battle the demons – including hordes of horrific Soul Eaters – that prowl the Afterlife. Is the spirit of her recently deceased grandfather (Thomerson) trying to lure her to an eternity of suffering? Can her guardian angel (Anders) safely lead her to the other side? Is there any way to go towards the light when your soul is Left In Darkness?
