Anchor Bay Entertainment and Dimension Films announced today the 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD release of the campy comedy-horror film, Piranha 3DD. Piranha 3DD (Piranha 3 Double D)

After the terror unleashed on Lake Victoria, the pre-historic school of blood thirsty piranhas are back. This time, no one is safe from the flesh eating fish as they sink their razor sharp teeth into the visitors of summer’s best attraction, The Big Wet Water Park. Christopher Lloyd reprises his role as the eccentric piranha expert with survivor Paul Scheer and a partially devoured Ving Rhames back for more fish frenzy. David Hasselhoff trades in the sandy beaches of “Baywatch” to be a celebrity lifeguard at the racy water park. Prepare for double the terror, double the action and double the Ds.

[Interview] Danielle Panabaker And David Koechner Talk Family Chemistry, Gore And ‘Piranha 3DD’

The John Gulager-directed sequel Piranha 3DD arrives on VOD and in limited theaters June 1 from Dimension Films. A few days back I caught up with stars Danielle Panabaker (Friday The 13th; “Maddy”) And David Koechner (Anchorman; “Chet”), whose characters in the film suffer an estranged stepfather/stepdaughter relationship when Chet turns Maddy’s favorite childhood waterpark into an orgy hotspot. The actors have good comedic chemistry offset as well, which you can glean from my interview with them.

There’s something in the water… again. And this time no one is safe from the flesh eating fish as they sink their razor sharp teeth into the visitors of the best summer attraction, The Big Wet Water Park.” It promises twice the terror and double the D’s.

Reteaming Gulager with Feast writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, the bloody sequel is jam-packed with stars including Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka, David Koechner, Meagan Tandy, Paul James Jordan, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Hector Jimenez, Adrian Martinez, Clu Gulager, Gary Busey, Katrina Bowden, Christopher Lloyd, Ving Rhames, Paul Scheer and even David Hasselhoff.

Russian Teaser Trailer For Animated ‘Hotel Transylvania’

Russian Teaser Trailer For Animated Hotel Transylvania

While we wait for something official here Stateside, we’ve just now embedded the Russian trailer (no subs, sorry) for Genndy Tartakovsky’s Hotel Transylvania 3D, Sony Pictures Animation’s 3-D family monster pic in theaters September 21.

Welcome to the Hotel Transylvania, Dracula’s (Adam Sandler) lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free from meddling from the human world. But here’s a little known fact about Dracula: he is not only the Prince of Darkness; he is also a dad. Over-protective of his teenage daughter, Mavis, Dracula fabricates tales of elaborate dangers to dissuade her adventurous spirit. As a haven for Mavis, he opens the Hotel Transylvania, where his daughter and some of the world’s most famous monsters – Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more – can kick back in safety and peace. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem – but his world could come crashing down when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.

Miley Cyrus, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, David Spade, David Koechner, Steve Buscemi, and Molly Shannon also star. READ MORE

3piranha3dd031512 NSFW: Double The Ds In Piranha 3DD Red Band Trailer!

‘Nothing333′ just tipped us off to the red band NSFW trailer for Dimension Films’ Piranha 3DD, the John Gulagar-directed sequel swimming into theaters and VOD June 1. The footage is similar to the leaked international trailer, but there’s a bit more nudity, and a great one-liner from the Hoff!

The sequel, penned by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, continues down the path of “ridiculous” as the piranha this time make their way into swimming pools, pipes, plumping and such at a newly opened waterpark named “Wilderness Waters”! The race is on to save the town from these flesh-eating creatures that are leaving a bloodbath in their wake.

Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka, David Koechner, Meagan Tandy, Paul James Jordan, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Hector Jimenez, Adrian Martinez, Clu Gulager, Gary Busey, Katrina Bowden, Christopher Lloyd, Ving Rhames, Paul Scheer and David Hasselhoff all star. READ MORE

Another Peek At Adam Sandler’s ‘Hotel Transylvania’

I’m not against animated fare or stuff geared at kids, but I just can’t muster much enthusiasm for Genndy Tartakovsky’s Hotel Transylvania 3D. Full Trailer For Piranha 3DD Better Than Entire Remake

We’ve just now landed the full official trailer for Dimension Films’ Piranha 3DD that I personally think is better than Alex Aja’s 2010 remake. Miley Cyrus Exits Animated ‘Hotel Transylvania 3D’

A rep for Sony Pictures has confirmed to EW that Miley Cyrus is no longer set to voice Mavis, the daughter of Dracula (Adam Sandler), in the Sony Picture Animation production Hotel Transylvania.

The studio had no comment on why Cyrus was leaving the film, and Cyrus’ rep did not immediately return a request seeking comment.

It was reported last November that Cyrus had joined the production to play the teenage daughter of the famed vampire, who constructs an elaborate resort for things that go bump in the night as a way of protecting his daughter from the real world.

The rest of the cast includes Kevin James as Frankenstein, Fran Drescher as the Bride of Frankenstein, David Spade as the Invisible Man, David Koechner as Quasimodo, Cee Lo Green as Murray the Mummy, and Steve Buscemi and Molly Shannon as a pair of werewolves.

Genndy Tartakovsky (Star Wars: Clone Wars) is directing the film, which is slated for release on September 21, 2012. READ MORE

UPDATE: ‘Piranha 3DD’s’ Release In Question As UK Dumps Sequel Direct-To-Disc

UPDATE: Piranha 3DDs Release In Question As UK Dumps Sequel Direct To Disc

Update: Having spoke with people involved with the film, Dimension U.S. fully owns Piranha 3DD and will be the first to release it (potentially spring 2012) worldwide. Other markets will follow. Thus, the following story is bunk.

According to the British Video Association, Dimension Films’ Piranha 3DD, the sequel to the remake that reteams Feast director John Gulager with writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, has been pulled from its UK theatrical slot and instead will be dumped direct-to-disc on March 9, 2012. While the news is being downplayed on other websites, this definitely has repercussions here in the States. In other words, if Dimension Films is to release Stateside, it’ll need to be in theaters before March 9.

This sounds a bit fishy. More news as it comes in; until then, inside you’ll find the UK synopsis for the flick starring Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka, David Koechner, Meagan Tandy, Paul James Jordan, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Hector Jimenez, Adrian Martinez, Clu Gulager, Gary Busey, Katrina Bowden, Christopher Lloyd, Ving Rhames, Paul Scheer, and even David Hasselhoff. PFFFFT: ‘Final Destination 5′ Poster Banned in UK Because It Makes Kids Visually Upset

fd5posterban120811 PFFFFT: Final Destination 5 Poster Banned in UK Because It Makes Kids Visually Upset

We live in a society that’s driven by fear, yet people freak out and complain over stupid (poorly designed) movie posters. Go figure.

The poster campaign for the DVD release of horror movie Final Destination 5 has been banned in the U.K. by the Advertising Standards Authority for upsetting children, reports THR.

The ad watchdog ruled that the poster, which shows a skull being shattered by steel rods driven through its mouth and eye sockets, must not appear again in its current form after upholding a slew of complaints from adults with upset children.

Welcome censorship.

The Warner Bros. release has been advertised by the imagery on posters on the side of buses and on billboards on the London Underground tube network. The campaign ran in August this year ahead of its August 26 rollout and the ASA received (a measly) 13 complaints that the poster was distressing and unsuitable for children to see.

Three people who complained claimed that their young children had become visibly upset when they saw the ad on a bus. These people are overprotective morons, IMO. READ MORE

[User Reviews] Write Your ‘Final Destination 5′ Thoughts Now!

The day is here and Warners and New Line Cinema’s hugely anticipated Final Destination 5 is now in theaters everywhere. Featuring real 3-D by James Cameron protege Steven Quale, “in this fifth installment, Death is just as omnipresent as ever, and is unleashed after one man’s premonition saves a group of coworkers from a terrifying suspension bridge collapse. But this group of unsuspecting souls was never supposed to survive, and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group frantically tries to discover a way to escape Death’s sinister agenda.

As you saw earlier this week, I raved about the experience, stating that “it truly, whole-heartedly, genuinely, and without a shadow of a doubt IS the best [sequel in the franchise].

But enough about me, Bloody Disgusting is a community, and your opinions hold equal weight to myself and our staffers. So take some time and write your own review to tell all of BD what YOU thought. Does Death still have it?

[Special Feature] ‘Final Destination’: Not So Final After All!

Death. It’s the most final of words; even in the thesaurus it is synonymous with words like ‘finish’ or ‘exit.’ To death, there’s no beginning, middle and end. There are no more birthdays, no more promotions at work. And that’s what makes death so damn terrifying- the fact that it’s all unknown. The fact that there really is nothing to look forward to once the clock stops ticking.

I was in high school when Final Destination hit theaters. I didn’t even bother to go and see it; I figured it was another cookie-cutter example of a teen slasher flick. From the sound of it, I was certain it would be some guy dressed as father death slinging a scythe around. Boy, was I wrong. It was an original; not necessarily a masterpiece, but a breath of fresh air amidst masked killers and by the book adolescent cinema. Now, here we are, eleven years later and looking dead in the eyes of ‘Final Destination 5′, the latest installment in the franchise. While most of us had tuned out after the massacre that was 4, those who believed in the idea stuck it out- and, thanks to their perseverance, this one is coming out smelling like roses. Some are going so far as to argue that this film is going to be the best of the series; while others, at the very least, have bestowed best sequel honors on the film. Since I haven’t seen the film yet, I can’t pass judgement- but our very own Mr. Disgusting actually liked it. Knowing how much he loves the series (probably as much as I love Justin Bieber), this is quite the compliment; and certainly a reason for me to be there this weekend.

In honor of Final Destination 5< ?a> (review), I took a trip down memory lane with story elitist Jeffrey Reddick, producer Craig Perry, and the man himself, actor Tony Todd; after all, if it weren’t for Flight 180, this bridge over troubled water wouldn’t exist.

[Review] ‘Final Destination’ Suspense Overload!

This Friday Warners and New Line unleash Final Destination 5, their 3-D sequel that takes a sharp turn and makes some major changes (for the better). While I’m curious to see where other critics stand on Death’s latest game of cat and mouse, I personally thought it was a triumph, which is saying a lot for the fourth sequel in a franchise.

It’s suspense overload that had me squirming in my seat like a 5-year-old watching “Barney”. Quale squeezes every ounce of air out of your body and leaves very little room to breathe… It truly, whole-heartedly, genuinely, and without a shadow of a doubt IS the best [sequel in the franchise].
