Singer Chrysta Bell has released a video for “Bird Of Flames”, a song that features director/musician David Lynch. The video, directed by Chel White, is a haunting, surreal vision in which a writhing, undulating dancer moves around a ball of lace from which, later in the video, Bell is born. The song comes from her album This Train (iTunes). You can watch the beautiful video below.
Bell explains, “Adding my vocals and making it a duet was incredibly meaningful to me and gave the song a new dimension. We knew we wanted a video, but finding a way to visually capture the uplifting yet darkly penetrating energy of the song was going to be a challenge. Chel White’s sublime talent for unusual, compelling and thought-provoking imagery was beautifully matched for the music. He did a magnificent job.” READ MORE
Yesterday brought you the free summer sampler from Century Media Records. Chock full of heavy tunes meant to tide you through the summer months, it’s a great way to listen to a bunch of new artists without having to shell out your hard earned dollars.
But what if you want something that isn’t as intense or heavy? What if you want to ease back and just mellow out a bit? Well, Stripmall Architecture is here for you! Featuring Rebecca Coseboom, the singer of DarkDriveClinic (review), this six-track EP is full of dark pop-synth tracks, including a cover of “Rockin’ Back Inside My Heart”, which comes from Twin Peaks and was written by David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti.
The EP can be downloaded here at a “Set Your Own Price” cost. If you think it’s worth some money, by all means throw them a bone! Otherwise, make sure to spread the word so that they at least get the exposure.
There’re two new videos today that I want to bring to your attention. The first is the official video for David Lynch‘s Crazy Clown Time, which comes off his album of the same name (review). The video is definitely NSFW as it features a woman with her breasts bared for a good majority of the video. That being said, it’s undeniably a Lynch video. With strange characters, bright colors and odd imagery, the music and visuals fit perfectly.
The second video comes from legendary doom metal band Saint Vitus. Coming off their upcoming album Lillie: F-65, you can check out the video for Let Them Fall below. This album will be their first release in 17 years. The video is directed by Michael Panduro who brought us the fantastically disgusting Ohrwurm video by Cephalic Carnage.
David Lynch has released a short teaser of the recording sessions for his upcoming album Crazy Clown Time. Filmed just like one of his movies, the teaser is somewhat foreboding, thanks in part to the background music. Check it out after the jump and enjoy!
Crazy Clown Time will be released Nov. 8th in the US and Nov. 7th in the UK. You can pre-order the album on iTunes and Amazon.
If there was one major surprise announcement last year it was that legendary director David Lynch was going to be releasing an electronic album. After years of directing some of the most surreal and mind-boggling films of our time, Lynch decided to enter the music world with a collection of 14 songs on an album entitled Crazy Clown Time. We’ve got all the information on the album here.
After the jump, you can find a widget that allows you to hear the title track as well as download the song FOR FREE! I’m not really seeing anything wrong with this arrangement, so you should hop on it just as I did. Messily, followed by restraining orders.
Bilateral, the third studio album from Leprous, is easily one of my favorite releases this year (review here). The mix of prog with metal combined with a vintage feel but a modern sound all came together to create an album that I just cannot stop listening to. So I was beyond excited when I got the opportunity to chat with vocalist/keyboardist Einar Solberg. We discussed the album, the sounds and tones used, the artwork, and Einar’s thoughts on horror. Check it all out after the jump!
Late last year, I wrote an article about legendary director David Lynch (Blue Velvet, Eraserhead, Twin Peaks) wanting to compose and release a music album. Originally, the album was supposed to be released in June, but due to situations arising, the release date was pushed. Well, full details for the album, entitled Crazy Clown Time, have emerged and it’s sounding very impressive!
The album will be released on November 8th via Sunday Best Recordings and will be available for purchase at retail outlets in both physical and digital formats, including a Collector’s Edition CD; iTunes exclusive with video; and a double LP set with bonus tracks.
Lynch states: “The love of experimenting with sound and music is what’s driving this boat. All of the songs on the album started as a jam. The jams eventually found a form and lyrics appeared.”
Famed director David Lynch (Blue Velvet, Mulholland Dr., Elephant Man, Twin Peaks) will be directing Duran Duran in an upcoming live stream concert on March 23rd. The concert is the kickoff to the second year of the American Express Unstaged series. In addition to the amazing visual live show that is being planned, fans can submit photos and art which will be showcased on surreal displays throughout the night. The live stream will begin at 10pm EST/7pm PST from the Mayan Theater in Los Angeles, California. To watch it, keep your eyes peeled on Duran Duran’s official YouTube channel.
This concert comes a day after Duran Duran releases their 13th studio album, All You Need Is Now and two years after their last tour. What do you guys think? I’m kinda terrified to watch Hungry Like The Wolf as seen through the eyes of David Lynch. READ MORE
Director Travis Betz (Joshua, Lo, The Dead Inside) has put together a video for David Lynch’s ‘I Know’. You can check out the video HERE and, if you like it, make sure to vote for it in the hopes that David Lynch himself will select it as the official music video.
Personally, I think the video looks extremely polished, has some great cinematography going for it and it fits the music very well.
David Lynch, the man who has directed such amazing films as Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, The Elephant Man, Eraserhead and one of the greatest TV shows ever, Twin Peaks, is releasing Good Day Today/I Know today exclusively on iTunes. You can hear samples HERE.
From David Lynch: ”In all my films, I have always been very involved with all that one hears. The creation of this record was a natural extension of my love of sound and music. I am very happy to be with Sunday Best with the songs Good Day Today and I Know. This feels like a good partnership – and I’m looking forward to everyone having a good day today.”

The body of a young girl (Laura Palmer) is washed up on a beach near the small Washington state town of Twin Peaks. FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper is called in to investigate her strange demise only to uncover a web of mystery that ultimately leads him deep into the heart of the surrounding woodland and his very own soul.
Is it a nightmare or an actual view of a post-apocalyptic world? Set in an industrial town in which giant machines are constantly working, spewing smoke, and making noise that is inescapable, Henry Spencer lives in a building that, like all the others, appears to be abandoned. The lights flicker on and off, he has bowls of water in his dresser drawers, and for his only diversion he watches and listens to the Lady in the Radiator sing about finding happiness in heaven. Henry has a girlfriend, Mary X, who has frequent spastic fits. Mary gives birth to Henry’s child, a frightening looking mutant, which leads to the injection of all sorts of sexual imagery into the depressive and chaotic mix.
