Paris I’ll Kill You

Darkness has descended on the city of Romance, and Death is coming for you in the most glorious way imaginable…

David R. Ellis, Xavier Gens, Joe Dante, Christian Alvart, Christopher Smith, Paco Plaza, Timo Vuorensola, Eron Sheean, Jorn Heitmann, Bjorn Stein and Mans Marlind all direct segments. Described as a look at the seedy underbelly of the city of love! The title is a spoof on the romantic portmanteau feature Paris, je t’aime (2006), which featured directors Gus van Sant, Alexander Payne, Tom Tykwer, Walter Salles and the Coen brothers, among others.

The Briar Lake Murders

Short: This group of reckless and self-involved “twenty somethings” quickly discover that disrespecting the locals can have disastrous circumstances…

Long:A group of rude and insensitive city kids take a weekend vacation to Briar Lake, a picturesque town overlooking a beautiful lake, which to most outsiders would appear to be a peaceful small town. Having zero respect for anyone outside of their group, they are confronted by the hostile and eccentric residents. Following a bizarre experience in the town’s diner, they quickly retreat to the protection of their borrowed vacation lake house, where they plan to let loose and celebrate their weekend out of the city.

After an unexpected visit from the local police, the long weekend is cut short. Two of the locals have been brutally murdered, and this group of “outsiders” become the prime suspects. When the string of murders spins out of control, the group must come together to unravel Briar Lake’s sordid past and uncover the hidden secrets.

A vacation is always fun until you die!

R.I.P. David R. Ellis (1952-2013)

An extremely sad bit of news today as reports are emerging that director David R. Ellis has passed away at the age of 60. Ellis got his start in Hollywood as a stunt coordinator (and stunt man), working on such films as 1978′s Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, Scarface, Lethal Weapon and Misery. He worked as a 2nd Unit Director on Waterworld, Deep Blue Sea and the first Harry Potter movie among other films.

But where he really earned our love was as the director of such fun, unpretentious films as Final Destination 2, Snakes On A Plane, The Final Destination, Cellular and Shark Night 3D. I particularly loved how he elevated the Rube Goldberg style traps in Final Destination 2. At the time of his death he was prepping to reunite with his Snakes On A Plane star Samuel L. Jackson on the film KITE.

Ellis passed away this morning in Johannesburg, South Africa. The cause of death is not known at this time.

In other development news, Silver Pictures is embarking on a Home Invasion. Produced by Joel Silver, Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman the film is said to be inspired by The Strangers, which Rona and Heineman worked on together a few years back. David R. Ellis Latest Name Attached to Clock Tower

With nine projects currently in-development, Shark Night 3D director David R. Ellis is a busy man. Although a live-action adaptation of anime Kite is his next project, Ellis has revealed details about two horror films on his “To Do List.”

Sara Paxton is attached to star in The Briar Lake Murders and Ellis, who’s directing, told Australian stringer Maria Lewis (@moviemazz) that the film follows a traditional killer in the woods storyline.

It’s a movie about these kids that go on vacation and there’s a serial killer out there,” he said. “It’s got a good script and good people involved; I’m just not sure how soon that’s going to happen.

The more interesting of the two sounds like The Thing-inspired Clock Tower which Ellis said is a “cool” supernatural horror. (Editor’s note: The project has been in development for over 6 years now and this is the first time it has been reported that Ellis is attached.) READ MORE

When Wakeboarding Goes Bad in Latest ‘Shark Night 3D’ Clip

I’m a little concerned about Relativity’s Shark Night 3D after watching the following second clip from the horror flick arriving in theaters September 2. BOTH clips tease deaths as a result of either waterskiing or wakeboarding. Hopefully there are some unique moments and it’s not just a series of “shark attacks boat” kills.

New ‘Shark Night 3D’ Imagery: Hotties in Bikinis and Big Fins

Up until today all we had was this awesome first photo from Shark Night 3D, the David R. Ellis (Snakes on a Plane, Final Destination 2, The Final Destination) directed thriller swimming into theaters September 2. Now, courtesy of a French distributor, by clicking the still below you’ll find an entire image gallery that’s got everything from sharks to Sara Paxton in a bikini. Win-win.

Arriving by boat at her family’s Louisiana lake island cabin, Sara (Sara Paxton) and her friends quickly strip down to their swimsuits for a weekend of fun in the sun. But when star football player Malik (Sinqua Walls) stumbles from the salt-water lake with his arm torn off, the party mood quickly evaporates. Assuming the injury was caused by a freak wake-boarding accident, the group realizes they have to get Malik to a hospital on the other side of the lake, and fast.

But as they set out in a tiny speedboat, the college friends discover the lake has been stocked with hundreds of massive, flesh-eating sharks! As they face one grisly death after another, Sara and the others struggle desperately to fend off the sharks, get help and stay alive long enough to reach the safety of dry land.
