A transport ship containing 40 passengers heading to other worlds for, among other reasons, settling, New Mecca, and for one passenger, Riddick, another cell. The ship encounters a tiny meteor storm and crash lands on a barren planet with only 1/4 of its complement surviving. Survival is tough with Riddick on the loose and no water in sight. “It’s about an FBI agent who uses technology to track a spy across the world only to learn that the spy is more of a demon than a man. That chase leads our FBI agent into the lower circles of hell, at least psychologically speaking.”

Riddick

Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy. The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

Full Length Trailer For ‘Riddick’ Antes Up On Creatures, Bounty Hunters And… Brightness! New Poster Added!

David Twohy and Vin Diesel have reunited for Riddick, the third film in the Pitch Black franchise, and we finally get the first full length trailer (via Machinima) after a brief tease two months ago! I imagine this will be attached to Fast & Furious 6, whose existence Diesel likely used as a bargaining chip to get this film made.

Finally! A ‘Riddick’ Image That’s Not Brown!

While I enjoy Vin Diesel’s Facebook image updates for Riddick, they’ve been a bit monochromatic. Now he breaks up the brown look with a bit of blue in this new image from the David Twohy directed sequel due in theaters September 6 from Universal. Diesel writes, “It has been 9 years since the Chronicles of Riddick was released… all along I knew I would eventually have to return to that dark place, the mind of an Alpha Furyan…

Karl Urban, Nolan Funk, Jordi Molla, Matt Nable, Katee Sackhoff, Bokeem Woodbine, Dave Bautista, Conrad Pla, Raoul Trujillo, Nolan Funk and Keri Hilson fill the cast in which “Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy. Another Rainy ‘Riddick’ Image Adds A Weapon To The Arsenal

Universal Pictures’ Riddick reteams Pitch Black director David Twohy with star Vin Diesel as the title character of the sci-fi trilogy. And, as is his routine at this point, Diesel has released a new still from the film himself.

Mercenaries figure pretty heavily into the plot of David Twohy’s Vin Diesel starring Riddick, and here are a few of the badasses on his tail. See if you can spot the former MMA fighter in the group! Hint, he’s one of the ones who’s not Nolan Funk (or David Twohy)!

Riddick also sees the return of Karl Urban (Star Trek) as Vaako and introduces to the series previously announced cast member Jordi Molla as Santana, the arrogant captain of the mercenary ship; Matt Nable (Killer Elite) as Boss Johns, a man looking for answers; Katee Sackhoff (TV’s Battlestar Galactica) as the Nordic mercenary Dahl; and Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall) as bounty hunter Moss. Rounding out the cast are Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption), Conrad Pla (Immortals), Raoul Trujillo (Apocalypto), Nolan Funk (Aliens in America) and two-time Grammy Award-nominated singer Keri Hilson.

Vin Diesel Shows Us ‘Riddick’! Again! Neat!

RiddickYo20212 Vin Diesel Shows Us Riddick! Again! Neat!

Vin Diesel has taken to Facebook again for another update on Riddick. Personally, I’m sure you guys would like to see some pics that give us a sense of scope on the project. Not just picture after picture of the character. But I could be wrong.

Per the thesp, “First time I posted about Riddick was back in 2009, Facebook was fresh… They were asking me to come to the headquarters to talk about this new concept of communicating with fans. I was proud to lead that wave, yet all I was doing, was opening up about my passion – film. So this picture of our 2012 production of ‘Riddick, is a cool victory for all of us… it shows that studios can be influenced by your voice.

Katee Sackoff, Jordi Molla and Nolan Funk all star in the second sequel to Pitch Black that’s in production under the command of franchise director David Twohy.

Vin Diesel Looks Like Riddick in ‘Riddick’

DieselRiddickLand12012 Vin Diesel Looks Like Riddick in Riddick

With Riddick back in production some steady news is starting to emerge from the set. David Twohy is currently directing the Vin Diesel starrer which recently resumed production after taking a two-month hiatus to deal with production cost issues.

Most recently Vin posted a pic of himself in character on his Facebook page, most likely giving the unit publicist a heart attack.

With the Fast And The Furious franchise at a commercial peak, it looks like Diesel is able to get passion projects off the ground. This includes big budget sequels to films that didn’t do that great at the box office to begin with.

We know that Katee Sackhoff plays Dahl, a Nordic mercenary tracking Riddick. We also know that Jordi Malla plays Santana, a mercenary who heads up an eight-man crew tasked with finding and killing Riddick. Nolan Funk‘s role remains a mystery.

Who Is Nolan Funk And Why Is He In ‘Riddick’?

I always forget that Riddick is actually happening. But it is! David Twohy is currently directing the Vin Diesel starrer which recently resumed production after taking a two-month hiatus to deal with production cost issues.

Who is Nolan Funk? Per Variety he’s a fellow who “can be seen next in the Bold Films pic ‘Evidence’ and just wrapped the co-lead role in the ABC Family pilot “Intercept.”

Why is he in Riddick? I have no idea. Neither does Variety it seems. We know that Katee Sackhoff plays Dahl, a Nordic mercenary tracking Riddick. We also know that Jordi Malla plays Santana, a mercenary who heads up an eight-man crew tasked with finding and killing Riddick.

Maybe Funk is another guy tracking down Riddick? Or perhaps he’s an intergalactic anime karaoke star? Because he’s kind of got that Robotech pop star thing going on in the pic below. READ MORE

Katee Sackhoff Confirmed For ‘Riddick’

Back in October Bloody Disgusting exclusively reported that Katee Sackhoff (White Noise 2: The Light, Growl, The Haunting in Georgia) was in talks to star in Riddick for Universal Pictures and director David Twohy. Deadline confirms this evening that talks continue for her to play the female lead opposite Vin Diesel. The “Battlestar Galactica” alumna will play Dahl, a Nordic mercenary tracking Riddick (Diesel).

Variety adds that Spanish thesp Jordi Molla – who came close to nabbing the coveted villain role in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek 2 – is taking his sinister sneer to another sci-fi franchise, as he’s in negotiations to play the villain opposite Sackhoff in the untitled pic. He would play Santana, a mercenary who heads up an eight-man crew tasked with finding and killing Riddick.

Production on the second “Pitch Black” sequel recently resumed after a two-month hiatus while the producers finalized financing. READ MORE

A Jackal of Concept Art From ‘Riddick’

While production picks back up in Montreal, star Vin Diesel has been posting new concept art from the David Twohy-directed Riddick, the third film in the trilogy that will star both Diesel and Karl Urban.

Andreas Apergis, Katee Sackhoff (White Noise 2: The Light, Growl, The Haunting in Georgia), Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall, Devil) and WWE wrestler Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption) have all been given offers. Add Matthew Nable (K-11, Killer Elite) to the list as “Boss Johns”. Apergis would play “Krone”, commander of the dark theocracy. Sackhoff would pay “Dahl”, a Nordic merc tracking Riddick.

We’ve also previously reported that there’s strong interest in both Cliff Curtis (Live Free or Die Hard , The Fountain, Training Day) and Holt McCallany (Alien 3, Fight Club) as “Santana” and “Vargas”, respectively.
