A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
Jocko Sims (pictured; Crash, White Space, Something Is Killing Tate) has joined the cast of Fox’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, opposite Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Kodi-Smit McPhee and Gary Oldman, Variety reports.

We’ve got our first behind the scenes look at Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to Twentieth Century Fox’s 2011′s hit franchise reboot Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
Matt Reeves is currently directing the sequel, which has already enlisted Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, and Gary Oldman playing some human characters with Judy Greer and Andy Serkis (and many others) playing the chimps. These photos from the Daily Mail cropped up after a shoot in the woods that presumably features both humans and chimps, since Russell and Clarke look normal and Serkis is wearing the mo-cap dots.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, in theaters May 23, 2014, continues the story of how ultra-intelligent simian Caesar (Andy Serkis) presides over the fall of human civilization. After the apes break out of their facility, a virus breaks out that causes the collapse of human society. The new project is taking the story to the next level, with the apes on the path to emerge as society’s new rulers.

Coming off Carrie, Judy Greer, pictured below, will be donning a motion-capture suit to play the female chimp Cornelia in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to Twentieth Century Fox’s 2011′s hit franchise reboot Rise of the Planet of the Apes, reports Vulture.
Says the site, Cornelia was briefly introduced in the first film (where she was played by dancer Devyn Dalton) as a potential love interest to Andy Serkis’s lead ape Caesar, but the role will be expanded in the Matt Reeves–directed sequel, which has already enlisted Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, and Gary Oldman to play some of the new human characters.

Keri Russell (Dark Skies, Felicity) has been cast (presumably as a human) in 20th Century Fox‘s Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. Per Variety, she’ll be playing the female lead even though no additional details are available.
The followup to Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes is to be directed by Cloverfield and Let Me In‘s Matt Reeves.
Russell joins Kodi Smit-McPhee, Gary Oldman, Andy Serkis and Jason Clarke in Fox’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel in theaters May 23, 2014. “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes continues the story of how ultra-intelligent simian Caesar (Andy Serkis) presides over the fall of human civilization. ParaNorman and Let Me In‘s Kodi Smit-McPhee has been cast as one of the leads in 20th Century Fox‘s Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, reports Deadline.
The followup to Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes is to be directed by Cloverfield‘s Matt Reeves, who also helmed Smit-McPhee in Let Me In.

Jason Clarke, a breakout actor thanks to his astounding performance as a CIA agent in Zero Dark Thirty, has signed on to star in 20th Century Fox’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The film will be directed by Cloverfield‘s Matt Reeves, as previously reported. Much of the plot is being kept under lock and key but it is set 15 years after the events of 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which starred James Franco. One focus is on the group of human scientists who are struggling to survive alone in San Francisco. Another aspect of the story is the struggle of intelligent ape Caesar, played by a returning Andy Serkis, to maintain dominance over his kingdom.
Peter Chernin, Dylan Clarke, Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa are producing the movie, which is currently working off a script by Mark Bomback. Apes is targeting a spring shoot for release on May 23, 2014.
In an interview with MTV, actor James Franco dropped the bomb that he may not join the cast of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to the Apes prequel, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, in which Franco played the scientist that gives Caesar his mental strength.
“I was going to be a small part of the next one,” he reveals in talking about returning to his role of Will Rodman. “There was a moment when Rupert Wyatt was going to direct the second one. A lot of the human characters that were in the first movie were dead in the sequel that Rupert was going to direct. But there was one scene, between Caesar and my character, maybe even just like on a video that was left behind, but then a lot of things happened, like [former Fox co-chairman] Tom Rothman who was a big part of the first movie, left. Now Rupert’s not a part of it so I don’t know. My guess is I won’t be in it. Nobody’s talked to me since Rupert left.”
Let Me In and Cloverfield‘s Matt Reeves has since come aboard to direct, and Andy Serkis is the only name to be attached to star. There’s no need to be alarmed because it’s just too soon to say Franco won’t return, which is why it’s a bit odd that he’d even imply that’s the case. Shooting is set to begin in the first quarter of 2013 with a release set for May 23, 2014.

Mark Bomback, whose writing credits include Live Free or Die Hard, Total Recall and the forthcoming The Wolverine, has been tapped to work on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, says THR. Matt Reeves (Let Me In, Cloverfield), stepping into the shoes originally worn by Rupert Wyatt, is directing the sequel to Fox’s 2011 hit, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, with the new movie continuing the story of how ultra-intelligent simian Caesar presides over the fall of human civilization. Andy Serkis is returning as Caesar. Fox has set a May 23, 2014, release date.
Now in theaters February 7, 2014, CBM has anded a slew of new behind-the-scenes paparazzi shots from RoboCop that feature Joel Kinnaman as the title character on his motorcycle, as well as a futuristic police cruiser. Director Jose Padilha reimagines the tale of part man, part machine, all cop starring Joel Kinnaman as the title character, Gary Oldman as the scientist who creates RoboCop, and Samuel L. Jackson as media mogul Pat Novak.
Airing October 26 on NBC is the failed pilot presentation of “Mockingbird Lane“, the reboot of “The Munsters” that will now air as a TV special. We’ve received the synopsis and TVLine presents the first ever cast photo. “Sweet little Eddie Munster (Mason Cook) is a normal kid about to enter the horrors of puberty. Truth is, he’s about to discover that for him becoming a teenager means growing hair in truly unexpected places — as in all over his body — every time the moon is full! Eddie’s got it pretty good though. His loving, supportive, run-of-the-mill family includes his mom Lily (Portia de Rossi), the daughter of Dracula; his dad Herman (Jerry O’Connell), who brings new meaning to “Frankenstein”; and Grandpa (Eddie Izzard), who would give Dracula a run for his money if he weren’t actually Dracula! Of course then there’s creepy cousin Marilyn (Charity Wakefield), who’s really the odd one because she’s so completely normal.” This new, reimagined version of the classic 1960’s comedy “The Munsters” is based on executive producer Bryan Fuller’s (“Pushing Daisies,” “Heroes”) script and was directed by executive producer Bryan Singer (“X-Men” film series, “House”).
Lastly, we’ve landed full synopses and banners for NBC’s “Hannibal” and “Do No Harm.” READ MORE
If Rise of the Planet of the Apes wasn’t sweet enough, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes just kicked it up a notch.
Cloverfield and Let Me In helmer Matt Reeves has (correctly) been set to direct Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, the 20th Century Fox sequel to Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, reports Deadline. Reeves was atop the list to replace Rupert Wyatt, and the other names I’d heard were in contention were The Disappearance Of Alice Creed helmer J Blakeson, 28 Weeks Later helmer Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, Take Shelter director Jeff Nichols, Pacific Rim helmer Guillermo del Toro, The Impossible helmer Juan Antonio Bayona and Looper helmer Rian Johnson.
Fox production president Emma Watts was in a spot when Wyatt exited (which Deadline revealed September 17), but they’ve gotten a good director here in Reeves, who last helmed the remake Let Me In. Reeves was also attached to helm The Twilight Zone movie at Warner Bros, as well as This Dark Endeavor, with Mean Creek writer/helmer Jacob Aaron Estes writing the script for Summit Entertainment. The studio fully expects to stay on track and make the May 23, 2014 release date that Fox announced in May.
Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver already turned in a script that is much liked by the studio and the film’s producer, Chernin Entertainment. It’s a natural extension of the first film, which grossed $483 million worldwide and seamlessly set up the apocalyptic sequel plotline.
Earlier today Cloverfield and Let Me In director Matt Reeves exited Warner Bros.’ The Twilight Zone project. Now we may know why…
20th Century Fox has come up with a short list to replace Rupert Wyatt as the director of Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. Deadline reports that Reeves is atop the list, along with The Disappearance Of Alice Creed helmer J Blakeson, 28 Weeks Later‘ Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, Crazy Heart and Mud director Jeff Nichols, Pacific Rim helmer Guillermo del Toro, The Impossible helmer Juan Antonio Bayona and Looper helmer Rian Johnson.
Those directors will be meeting with Fox production president Emma Watts to fill the plum post that Wyatt exited. Wyatt is said to have been uncomfortable about making the May 23, 2014 release date that the studio announced in May.
20th Century Fox, already undergoing seismic changes with Tom Rothman’s year end exit, might have a major director to replace on one of the studio’s most important film franchises. Deadline is reporting that Rupert Wyatt, who helmed the superb franchise reboot Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, will leave the sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Wyatt’s exit is similar to the same reason that Gary Ross stepped out of Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Wyatt didn’t feel comfortable making the May 23, 2014 release date that the studio announced in May.
Fox declined comment. The studio likes the script that Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver have turned in, and they are gearing up to make the date in a movie where the apes take over.
The first grossed $483 million worldwide. The sequel continues the story set forth in the critical and commercial hit prequel featuring simians that are given human intelligence and subsequently break out of their facility. At the same time, a virus breaks out that causes the collapse of human society. The new project is taking the story to the next level, with the apes on the path to emerge as society’s new rulers.
We’ve got a few release date announcements that starts with Twentieth Century Fox’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel that will infect theaters come May 23, 2014. Director Rupert Wyatt returns as does star Andy Serkis as the ape “Caesar”. Amanda Silver, Rick Jaffa, Scott Burns penned the screenplay that “Continues the story set forth in last year’s critical and commercial hit movie featuring simians that are given human intelligence and subsequently break out of their facility. At the same time, a virus breaks out that causes the collapse of human society. The new project is taking the story to the next level, with the apes on the path to emerge as society’s new rulers.”
Not horror, and the only time we’ll report this, Fox will be reaching into moron’s wallets and plucking $15 to watch a post-converted 3-D version of Roland Emmerich’s 1996 sumer epic Independence Day, which starred Will Smith, Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum. It opens July 3, 2013. We hope this single mention will help save you a handful of cash. “The aliens are coming and their goal is to invade and destroy. Fighting superior technology, Man’s best weapon is the will to survive.”
Laslty, Buena Vista revealed that Stephen Spielberg’s Robopocalypse, penned by Drew Goddard, will not blast into theaters April 25, 2014, almost a year later than originally planned. Based on the novel of the same name by Daniel H. Wilson, the plot explores the fate of the human race following a robot uprising.
