Standalone ‘Day Z’ Game Confirmed To Be Coming Later This Year

It started off as a mod for Arma II, but later this year Day Z will be getting its very own standalone release, courtesy of Arma developer Bohemia Interactive and the original mod’s creator. We first heard about it in August, and now we know the game is coming later this year. It’s a nebulous window, but not everyone has been happy with Resident Evil 6, so perhaps this could be another chance for disgruntled gamers to get their zombie fix. Dogs Are On Their Way To Help Make Your Days In ‘Day Z’ A Little Less Lonely

Unless you’ve found a group of survivors to hang with, Day Z can be a pretty lonely game. Soon that will no longer be the case, as the next update will bring with it a much-needed level of companionship in the form of dogs. Before you get too excited, these furry friends aren’t only here to make your job of surviving in Day Z’s zombie-infested post-apocalyptic world a little easier. My therapist says this is totally normal. What’s also normal, cool even, is if you were to click that Read More button so you can watch a substantial bit of gameplay from the next update.

Thanks To Bohemia Interactive, The ‘Day Z’ Mod Won’t Be A Mod Much Longer

By now, you’ve undoubtedly heard of the post-apocalyptic zombie mod Day Z, which has gained momentum over the last four months as gamers have flocked to see what it’s all about. It’s quickly become a big reason to check out the military simulator Arma II–the game it’s a mod for–and Arma developer Bohemia Interactive is well aware of this. The developer has announced it’s working on a standalone game based on the mod that will follow Minecraft’s model by releasing “fast iterations with the community alpha available for a heavily discounted price.” If you’d rather continue enjoying the mod, fear not, as they’ll continue updating it while the standalone game is in development. Has anyone here had the chance to play Day Z yet, and if you have, what do you think?
