Dead Rising 2: Off The Record Let’s You Play In A Sandbox

As we grow up, get jobs, and have tons of sex, we tend to forget the little things that used to make us happy. Things like playgrounds, the happy tunes of a nearby ice cream truck, and sandboxes. Thankfully, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record promises a chance for us to embrace our youthful selves in its newly unveiled sandbox mode. Alas, this mode doesn’t actually come iwth a sandbox, but that shouldn’t excidedly jumping up and down like a child who’s just been told they can stay up a little past their bedtime at this glorious news.

6 Dead Rising 2: Off The Record Lets You Play In A Sandbox

One of my biggest complaints about the Dead Rising series is the time limit. This fucker haunts you throughout the entire game, and if you make a single mistake, like say, underestimating the time it takes to get from Point A to Point B, then you’re punished severely. That sucks. It isn’t fun, and while I’m sure plenty of you like that, time limits make me angry (and you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry). Off the Record has just become a little more interesting to me with the unveiling of a time limit-free mode, because it means I can roam around, slaying zombies free from the shackles of father time. So how about you? Is this something you’re interested in? Is it? IS IT?! READ MORE

Returning to Fortune City Will Run You $40

Our second trip to the lovely necropolis of Fortune City will cost less than our first, as it’s been revealed that Dead Rising 2: Off the Record will cost $40, as opposed to the full price its predecessor charged. Good thing too, because this game looks like much of the same, but with a few new weapons and the return of a slightly heftier Frank West. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, I just would’ve liked to see them do something more with a franchise that has so much potential.

If anything, Off the Record looks like it’ll be just as ridiculous as Dead Rising 2, with plenty of crazy costumes for Frank to stuff his more expansive frame into. I’m sure that’s enough of an incentive for most people to return to the series. We won’t know for sure if Frank’s return is as glorious as his debut until the game releases sometime this fall for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. READ MORE

E3: Dead Rising 2: Off the Record Trailer & Screens

Is it just me or is today really fucking good for horror fans? I can barely keep up with all the horror news coming out of E3 today. Capcom is taking us on another trip through Fortune City with Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, a sort of retelling of the events from Dead Rising 2 with new missions, weapons, and all through the eyes of the original game’s protagonist, photojournalist Frank West.

It could be interesting so long as they fix the save system, add more checkpoints and – even though they won’t do it – remove the time limit, or at the very least, let us choose to play through the game at our own speed once we’ve beaten the game. It sounds like they’ve fixed the first two, so this might be a worthwhile purchase for Frank West enthusiasts or anyone who really enjoyed the second game. Head past the break for some screens! Dead Rising 2 Goes Off the Record With a Trailer & Some Screenshots

After the success of the Dead Rising 2 and its two downloadable expansions, Capcom is continuing to push out an amazing amount of new content related to Dead Rising 2. As opposed to a third expansion, this time they’re going with a full game. At Captivate, Capcom’s annual shindig that’s going on right now, they’ve unveiled the next installment in the Dead Rising series, entitled Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. It will answer the question of what Dead Rising 2 would’ve been like with Frank West behind wheel but it won’t come with a prologue (Case Zero) or epilogue (Case West) DLC like its predecessor. Once again we’ll take control of the photojournalist who starred in the original game as he embarks on his very own adventure in Fortune City. The game will come with a new arsenal of weapons, a fresh story and plenty of new environments.

But that’s not all. There will also be brand new enemies, vehicles, items, psychos and you’ll once again be able to use Frank’s camera to score Prestige Points depending on how well the photo scores in areas of horror, drama, erotica and brutality. Erotica? Too each his own, I suppose. Head past the jump for some more details on the upcoming game as well it’s trailer debut and a hefty selection of screenshots. READ MORE

Case West Brings More Zombie Action to XBLA Dec 21

Has the void left by The Walking Dead’s first season being over (until it comes back in October of course) left you fighting a burning desire for more undead kickassery? Good, because Capcom is here to satiate your lust for all things undead with the recently revealed Case West serves as an epilogue to Dead Rising 2 and will help bridge the gap between this game and its inevitable sequel.

1 Case West Brings More Zombie Action to XBLA Dec 21

Case West will be out on the 21st for 800 Microsoft Moose Dollars, just in time to sprinkle some much needed zombie killing atop your busy Christmas shenanigans. But that’s not all there is on the Dead Rising front, oh no sir, why don’t you head past the break for a little more. READ MORE

Dead Rising 2: Case West, All The Zombie Killing Assets You Need

Capcom is smart. They released Dead Rising Case Zero almost like an extended demo for Dead Rising 2, and it did amazingly. Well keeping that alive, sometime this month (supposedly) they will be releasing Dead Rising 2: Case West. Another bridging story in the world of Dead Rising, where our 2 heroes Frank West and Chuck Greene meet after the events of Dead Rising 2 and fight to survive together.

Lots of new weapon combos and fun to be had. The game will release on Xbox Live Arcade ONLY (Sorry PS3 fans), no price and no exact release date is yet known. Screens beyond the break. READ MORE
