How are you? Are you feeling okay? You’re staying hydrated I hope. We’re in the middle of the dreaded summer drought, where the sun reaches its maximum sun burn-inflicting power, and the heat seems nearly inescapable. But what makes all this worse is the lack of new releases. So while we’re hiding inside our houses careful to keep our pale gamer skin away from the sun’s glaring eye, anxiously waiting for autumn to arrive and save us with its slew of big releases, we have to find other things to keep our energy drink fueled minds busy.
Luckily, this is a rather great time for big news. June gifted us with E3 and all the goods that comes with it, and now we have arguably the second biggest event for gamers and geeks: Comic Con. So, assuming your mind hasn’t been fried by that evil yellow ball we call the sun, why don’t you read on to get caught up on the biggest happenings with Left 4 Dead, Resident Evil, Dead Space, Alan Wake, and slew of other amazing titles that will have you screaming like a tween girl (or grown man, no one’s judging here) at a Justin Bieber concert, assuming you’ve kept hydrated. Visceral Games the masterminds behind Dead Space, and the upcoming Dead Space 2 are planning on releasing Dead Space Ignition before the release of 2. This game will be a prequel to Dead Space 2, bridging the gap between the 1st and 2nd game. They are looking to release it on the Xbox Live Marketplace and Playstation Network sometime in the fall. Dead Space 2 will be released January 25th, 2010 for the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.

Dead Space 2, one of the games I am the most excited for. And they are delivering at E3. The game gets a release date, January 25th, 2011. Issac is back, they’ve given him a voice, and a nice refreshing case of dementia.
There will be a limited edition for the Playstation 3 that will include Dead Space Extraction, the prequel to Dead Space that came out on the Wii. This has been a heavy week for horror fanatics with several amazing and even startling new headlines regarding some of our favorite franchises popping up every week. Of course, for those of you who bought Alan Wake, you probably haven’t noticed any of these headlines, so I’m here to give your mind an intellectual massage. What does that mean? Several days ago I received something in the mail from E.A. A rorschach inkblot that looks something like the one you see in the preview window of this video below. It is covered in “alien” writing that glows in the dark and can be seen under a black light. It also came with a card that mostly spoke of patient 1544C, or Issac. There was some alien writing on it that begged to be deciphered.
After remembering seeing a chart in Dead Space that translated the alien letters into the English alphabet, I searched the interwebz with the help of my partner in Dead Pixels Podcast crime, found the chart, and deciphered the message. “The sickness is the cure! The cure is the sickness!” Still bewildered we googled a found out that something was going to happen today. And there it is above! That’s my story, and now I bow out gracefully. READ MORE

This has been one helluva exciting couple of months, especially if you enjoy slaying unbaptized babies (and possibly little girls, depending on how you play your games), zombies, and non-zombies. In case you hadn’t noticed this already, BioShock 2 and Dante’s Inferno are finally out and may be just what we need to tide us over until the new Resident Evil 5 and Left 4 Dead DLC come out over the next couple months.
But that’s not all, oh no it isn’t, you may have seen some Gears of War in your Lost Planet 2? Well, now there’s also a little bit of Resident Evil in there to make that game even better. As Alan Wake nears its May release date we’ve been given some more details on the game including a very cool new trailer. Finally it happened. After the huge fail that was Dead Space Extraction (though a great Wii game), E.A. had to quickly redeem themselves. They announced early this morning that Dead Space 2 is definitely happening. There will be more info on the game in this months Game Informer Magazine, which hits shelves December 14th.
“We’re thrilled to jump back into the series, making the next chapterin Isaac’s journey,” said Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer of Dead Space 2. “The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it. There are still loads of Necromorphs that need killing. In Dead Space 2, not everything is exactly as it seems.
