Have you ever locked eyes with a child and instantly decided that kid is the Devil’s spawn? The kid stares back at you with its wee beady eyes, soulless and black, as if it’s peering deep into your soul? I’m sure I’m not the only one that looks at stranger’s offspring this way, but I’ll admit my opinion on the mini-people is a little skewed.

I have to admit I haven’t played through the entire “DEAD SPACE” video game, but I have seen the animated film “DEAD SPACE: DOWNFALL”, and I liked what I saw. Obviously so did many other fans out there as “DEAD SPACE” has become a wildly successful franchise. That success is about to reach further yet as yesterday the folks at EA Games and Tor Books announced plans for yet another prequel with “DEAD SPACE: MARTYR”. When I say comic adaptation of a video game series, a Pavlovian response in most readers is to cringe and/or vomit. One of the few adaptations not to do that was last years’ Dead Space comics(which is currently in paperback.) Well the team that brought you that is back to go back to the hell filled with necromorphs with Dead Space: Extraction out September 9. This should be pretty fun but I am sad it’s only a one shot…synopsis after the break.

Bloody Disgusting’s game of the year 2k8 Dead Space is going to be coming out for the Wii sometime later this year. E.A. had an earnings call for the 3rd quarter of 2009 and that’s where that bomb was dropped. And it was promised Dead Space for Wii would be just as creepy and brutal as it was when it came out for the other platforms.

What is “Steam” do you ask? Well, if you know what Xbox Live Marketplace is, and the Playstation Network is, that that’s pretty much all you need to know. If you don’t know what any of those are, then let me try to break it down for you. You can go to “Steam” or store.steampowered.com and you can purchase and download games, full video games right from the website, download them to your computer and play them right there. Takes out the middle man of you having to go to the store and buy the game.

Though it may be cliche’ to say, “well oh gee, I never though 2008 would be as good as 2007 for horror games” bla bla bla, well it was. Yes last year BioShock demolished the competition, but with the amount of epically amazing games this year, I think the race will be a little less 1 sided.

I’ve got the 6th Dev. diary, which is all about zero g, and what they did to get it just right, it’s pretty incredible. Also have a bunch of concept art. They are interactive episodes, that allow you to explore on your own, and check different things out. A more hands on look into the world of Dead Space. Every week on Monday there will be a new episode released until the game is released on October 21st. Here is all the info you need to know.

“No Known Survivors is an experiential site that allows visitors to explore the narrative world of Dead Space. Over nine weeks, the site employs interactive components, 3D animations, voice acting, original video and animation, as well as Papervision 3D technology to tell two equally tragic four chapter stories. The First, “Misplaced Affection”, is the story of an organ replacement technician who falls hard for a capable female security officer. The second, “13″, tells of a sleeper agent who makes the wrong decisions for the right reasons. For an exclusive look behind the scenes of the launch check out IGN complete with exclusive assets including lost audio logs between a doctor and her patients, organ replacement forms, and video of the 3D body parts.

We worked really close with the studio team on this for story and creative, and have used some technology here on the execution that is really necessary in bringing an interactive narrative to fruition online. Dead Space Downfall is the name of the animated feature film they have coming out, release date is still unknown. I’m assuming the movie will come out before the game, also considering the movie is between the comic and the video game. So in correct order of story line it goes, comic, movie, game. Check out the main character in action in this 1st video, and you even get to see him jumping from wall to wall in zero gravity. They explain in the second video that you cant just shoot these monsters dead, you have to take them apart piece by piece. If you shoot out the legs, they crawl at you, shoot one arm out, guess what, still one more arm to rip you open with. You have to take them down and make sure they stay that way.
