For those of you in the States (or abroad, too, I suppose), happy Independence Day! I don’t know about you, but I like to celebrate July 4th with sweet deals on video games. It just so happens that online games retailer GOG.com is hosting an epic Summer Sale that also happens to be ending (with a bang) today.
There are hundreds of games on sale, but some of the horror highlights include Slender: The Arrival for $4.99, Miasmata for $3.74, Alan Wake and Alan Wake’s American Nightmare for $8.98, Zafehouse Diaries for $2.49, and System Shock 2 for $4.99, among many others.
Black Friday is the one day of the year where your chances of getting great deals at your local retailer are about as good as your chances of getting curb-stomped by a fellow shopper on your way to the electronics section. I can understand the allure of getting stuff on the cheap, but as a self-proclaimed geek with alarmingly brittle bones who avoids confrontation like the Bubonic plague, I don’t cherish the idea of fighting my way through a tidal wave of angry shoppers like I’m Brad Pitt in World War Z so I can get an HDTV for half off.
This is where Cyber Monday comes in, because you can get many of those same deals without the hassle of waiting in lines for hours between that guy who obviously hasn’t showered in at least a week and the old lady with the crippled leg who looks sweet but really brought that cane as an instrument to bash your fucking head in the second you put your hands on something she has her Glaucoma riddled eyes on. So if you’re like me and none of the above sounds like a meaningful use of your time, you should definitely read on for all the best video game deals Cyber Monday has to offer.
UPDATE 1: I’ve added deals from Newegg, Xbox Live, and a few more courtesy of Best Buy.
Craving some sweet, undead action this week but don’t have the money to spend on games like Red Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare expansion or Left 4 Dead 2′s The Passing DLC? Well, look no further because it just so happens that all this week Xbox Live is having some spectacular deals on zombie-themed content, including the aforementioned DLC, Stubbs the Zombie, Twin Blades, and even Dead Rising 2: Case West.
Savings! Savings! Savings! (I’m channeling my inner car salesman, the type you see in those awful commercials) For the full list of deals and the newly dropped prices of these games and DLC head past the break, just make sure you bring your wallet so you can get in on this hot action. READ MORE
